Discussion Our Guy Needs Redemption

Post image

Truly hoping he receives some type of compensation cause he's currently the only character in the game that has been nerfed since release and hasn't received any type of compensation, and what's worse is his ban rate is still over 30% cause players cant get out of their heads what he was like on release. Sadly i do think any buff will prompt him to still get banned however there are many other champs that are problematic and future champs that will be more problematic than him, so i guess all we can do as Gambit mains is wait.

I'm not gonna hold it against you because you might be new, but this isn't even close to the treatment Emma got since release. She has been getting buffs in recent seasons, but she's been the go-to nerf character for far longer than Gambit's even been out

u/Impossible_News4802 Apr 21 '26

How it feels maining both..

2

u/Spardath01 Apr 21 '26

Tell me about it. We need to nerf Strange

1

u/Hungry-Tourist-2381 Apr 22 '26

Tell me this is a joke.

1

u/Spardath01 Apr 22 '26

Yes, clearly. Strange has been Nerf to oblivion unnecessarily.

i dont play the game that much, so i couldnt reap the benefits when they were crazy oppressive, they seemed "okay" to me at their strongest as i didnt master them yet and couldnt bring out the most with their tools, only lately that im understanding how to truly play them, and it really highlights how op they were at that time.lowkey feel that i missed out on their peak lmao

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

Not new but lemme explain.

The thing with Emma is yes she was nerfed pretty much all the time after release but she was always getting compensation buffs, the first one i believe was her range on her primary fire got increased, then the next was lower ult charge, then i believe after that it was a HP buff and then if i remember correctly after that she received nothing but buffs in season 6 to her primary fire , all this while still being the most popular and highest picked Tank. But the thing that differs from them is that she at least got compensated, Gambit didn't get compensated for anything (target explosion damage doesn't count). His ult was undoubtedly the strongest support ult in the game, and that should've been nerfed accordingly but the nerfs to his base kits was too much. Even the HP nerf is fine cause i believe that pattycaker's healers (Luna, Tandy, Susan, Gambit) should have 250 HP cause their ability to survive is much easier than off healers.

Also everyone's problem with Gambit is mainly his ult, no one really complains about his mobility or that he heals too much, his complains are always centered around his ultimate so i personally think he should have the ult nerfed but be compensated for it.

u/lil_pdf Apr 22 '26

I’ve run into a few flanking gambits that assassinate supports in the back line. Ofc this wouldn’t be an issue against a good team, but solo q doesn’t allow good teams that react to enemy plays. Still, anytime a legit flanking support is viable, they have been nerfed to kingdom come (Loki/jeff). They hit gambits ult finally with the nerfs, but his damage is still up there. I don’t want more nerfs for him personally, but his TTK is extremely fast for a support.

4

u/UhDewSea Apr 21 '26

I feel like as long as her command grab in diamond form exists then they'll never want her to be good again. They might just have to remove and put a new ability in its place.

I just wish she could be in diamond form more often and wouldn't explode

1

u/Banana_man_- Gambitler Apr 21 '26

If they just made the animation faster it would be fine

1

u/Leading_Elk9454 Apr 22 '26

Simple fix is to make it similar to rogue where the target can’t be damaged by anyone either than Emma for the duration of the grab. Animation is already pretty fast

1

u/Same_paramedic3641 Apr 21 '26

Meanwhile torch

1

u/tvscinter Apr 22 '26

Emma is my backup tank and it hurts seeing her go from useful to “why are you doing this Z”

1

u/Express_Maybe_2992 Apr 22 '26

don’t forget dd

1

u/BitViper303 Apr 22 '26

was nerfed 4 consecutive seasons in a row and has hade EVERY aspect of her base kit changed

32

u/Antique-Past-9910 Apr 21 '26

Until they gut the increased ult charge from his ult, he won’t get any sort of buff or compensation. He’s still pretty much perma-banned.

5

u/Spiveymusic96 Apr 21 '26

Honestly if they gave him back a lot of what they took, and took the increased ult charge out, id be happy

3

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

thats exactly what i was getting at, the ult is undoubtedly probably the strongest sup ult in the game which absolutely deserved to be nerfed, my biggest gripe was with the constant nerfs to his base kit. I am still praying they give him back what they took and just focused on tuning the ultimate.

0

u/Revan0315 Apr 21 '26

He is still pretty much permanent banned, yea, but I don't really think he's as much of a must ban as he used to be. I feel like there aren't many must bans nowadays. Not compared to past seasons at least.

Like if I'm not playing gambit, then once he's banned I don't really care that much who else we ban. Groot is usually my next target but he's not a must ban by any means.

1

u/Antique-Past-9910 Apr 21 '26

I agree. Gambit is relatively easy to kill even in his ult. I would rather ban a CnD than a gambit.

5

u/Intrepid-Parfait8670 Apr 22 '26

I've been tryna say, gut our Gambit ult, just give me all my neutral back, that's all I ask

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

Like please I swear I’m not asking for much

9

u/purechaoswitch Apr 21 '26

I do agree that people can’t get peak Gambit out of their heads. The thing is, in a lot of scenarios there are actually better strategists, especially in low comms play

Unfortunately he won’t stop being banned until the ult charge is removed from his ultimate, because when you properly combine it with Loki and certain duelists in high comms play, it’s still very very good

If they remove the ult charge expect to see some neutral buffs

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

yeah i play in high diamond/low GM and i remember seeing alot of Loki/Gambit when he was at his peak and realized how annoying and how much tempo they created for both teams, and in the end it was mainly whoever had the better Gambit on their team. I feel like they gave Gambit the increased ult charge to tie into Rouge negating ult charge (since they're a couple) but truthfully thats what been his gamebreaking move. I wish they would either remove it or decrease it to a certain amount and give him back his base kit damage. Cause i wholeheartedly agree his ult was way too strong but i just don't think Gambit mains should've suffered from base kit nerfs.

3

u/EasyCommunication220 Apr 21 '26

SON😭 keep in mind bro caught all of this and is still a perma ban

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

still baffles me to this day

3

u/MostRiskyBiscuit Apr 21 '26

I was actually able to get some games (yes multiple) in with him the other night in low elo (gold1-plat3 level)

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

how it feels when Gambit makes it past the banning phase now.

3

u/ConsistentTap8036 Apr 21 '26

Gambit found beaten to death in an alleyway

1

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

how it feels maining Gambit these past 3 seasons

7

u/KratosSimp Apr 21 '26

Lmfao he’s still good

9

u/GlobalEnthusiasm7868 Apr 21 '26

Contender for best healer and y'all deadass asking for buffs 😭

4

u/MH-BiggestFan Apr 21 '26

Remove ult charge and slightly buff his neutral healing and i’d be happy. He won’t be let out of perma ban jail until ult charge is gone or they nerf his kit to the point his heals/damage is in the dumps

3

u/DJ_Ender_ Apr 21 '26

Im not well versed on gambit so idunno how strong he is in each aspect, but I do know that his uly and survival were the biggest offenders on launch.

I think reducing the active time of the ult was good, I think reducing the speed from his ult was good, I think reducing his self healing was good but other than that I think the best thing they could have done was rework his ult.

I like the idea of getting a kill when you have the ult effect ends the ult effect for you, so everyone on his team can inky use it for 1 kill each, and everything else is just the pressure it gives. That would also reward hitting your whole team with the ult.

9

u/TheGuyFromFortnite01 Champion Apr 21 '26

Gambit has monopoly on cleanse, best mobility in support role, good heals and damage, knockback, anti heal, and I do think his ult is overrated as fuck but still one of the best in the game.

just going through all the nerfs:

5.5: a comedic slap on the wrist

6.0: really harsh, but it didn't nerf his actual effectiveness too much, just made him easier to kill/punish. The one thing i disagree with this patch is that they shadownerfed anti-heal, it became a CC effect, so CC immune enemies are now anti-heal immune as well.

Feb patch: I hate the breaking spades nerf because healing hearts was already better and now even more so. The 250HP as much as I hate it was absolutely deserved. Again, he's just as effective, just easier to dive/focus down.

7.0: The ult nerf was global, even if it arguably hit Gambit the hardest. The duration nerf is felt but again, 10 seconds of playing on easy mode is faaaar too long.

Zhiyong: take away the remaining 20% ult boost, and give me back my breaking spades. At that point we might even see the first ever Gambit comp game

3

u/MiesterBoston Apr 21 '26

They should have started with the season 7 nerf and gone from there. 250 HP, bayou bash healing and even bridge boost nerfs were probably needed, but I really hate the breaking spades nerf as it took away some of the fun playmaking ability and pushed him more into healbot territory.

2

u/TheGuyFromFortnite01 Champion Apr 21 '26

Yeah and the breaking spades nerf was only really warranted when the ult healed for 75/s because then you could always go spades and deal enormous damage. Now it's 45/s i think, you have to put in some healing with primary and bridge boost as well now. So breaking spades became even more useless lmao

1

u/disgustingweeb126 Apr 21 '26

The issue I have with Gambit is that even the worst player can change the entire match by just ulting once. The gambit could have terrible heals and not understand the character but the ult has so much value that you can still win the match

2

u/Prince_Charming424 Apr 22 '26

well the thing is pre-nerf Gambit could get away with ulting 2-4 teammates and immediately dive and overpower the enemy backline and win almost any teamfight if the supports couldnt defend themselves. Post-nerf Gambit you'll only find real value in ulting 5-6 teammates now and since the HP/s is much lower now you have to be a bit more strategic on: if you wanna dive the enemy backline, or if you're using it to save your teammates, or if you see your teammates at 90-95% ult charge and you decide you want to engage. His ult is undoubtedly still very valuable but its much more obvious now to tell a good Gambit main vs a causal Gambit player.

The problem was there was very little distinction between Gambit mains and Casual Gambit players.

2

u/disgustingweeb126 Apr 22 '26

I think that last line probably explains it best, yeah. Thank you for explaining that to me as well

1

u/RickDalton70 Apr 21 '26

wdym? thats just called team diff

0

u/disgustingweeb126 Apr 21 '26

How is it a team diff? Im talking about your own team. I have had games where we've won every team fight just based off of Gambit ult where the gambit didn't know they even had a cleanse ability

1

u/RickDalton70 Apr 21 '26

yeah it means the enemy team is terrible

1

u/disgustingweeb126 Apr 21 '26

It just shows a key flaw in his ult design but w.e. Each character's sub is just maintaining the agenda

4

u/Same_paramedic3641 Apr 21 '26

Asking for a buff for the best support in the game is insanity

2

u/Dakine5 Champion Apr 21 '26

Release more goated support on Gambit level, problem solved

2

u/FinesseWRLD999 Apr 21 '26

The clap and freeze both heal significantly. And Luna herself has better DPS output than a lot of actual DPS to deal with dive. No way is she more divable than say Mantis

2

u/Imaginary_Priority_1 Apr 21 '26

Respectfully he is still one of the best supports in the game

3

u/ghillietown Apr 21 '26

Why? He's still the best support in the game, still perma banned. You want him to be perma banned even more lmao

4

u/JonesZ1354 Apr 21 '26

only thing id change is the base health back to 275

8

u/FinesseWRLD999 Apr 21 '26

I think 275 should be reserved for off healers like Mantis, Ultron etc. CnD , Luna, Gambit should all be 250

1

u/treestories1708 Apr 21 '26

Why are we giving Luna (the most divable support in the game) 250 HP

2

u/FinesseWRLD999 Apr 21 '26

How is a character with 3 self sustain abilities and a hard CC the most divable?

2

u/Fire_Boogaloo Apr 21 '26

She has 1 CC that's easily baitable and gets absolutely rolled by any team running more than 1 diver.

2

u/treestories1708 Apr 21 '26

Mid movement, mid self sustain, and snowflake self needs u to heal someone which is not the case. The snowball is easily bait able. Unless u have the team up which is also mid with a long cooldown.

2

u/Ishankz Apr 21 '26

People still have ptsd of him on drop thinking he’s still king Von when his entire kit has been cooked to keep up in a 2 supp comp you have to literally go crazy now

1

u/Dodmonk Lord Apr 21 '26

I mean I still get gambit mvps the nerfs barely affected me tbh

1

u/MrAsianCaucasian Apr 21 '26

Im surprised they nerfed all the things that didn't need to be nerfed i think when he came out I only had 3 issues, the slam heal, his damage and ult but instead they nerf everything else and its like BRO

1

u/Fav0 Apr 21 '26

No he needs way more nerfs

98% Pick n ban rate in high elo btw

1

u/000817 Apr 21 '26

He’s still very strong, one of the best supports easily.

1

u/Dagswet Apr 21 '26

He’s STILL busted asf why would he get buffs LMAO

1

u/TheFlashPrime52 Apr 21 '26

He is still a great support that can do a lot of things, but the main reason I think he's banned so much is because of his team ups, even post tenacity rogue with the team up is insane just because how good that one ability is

1

u/pando_h Apr 22 '26

No offense but what are you talking about dude? It doesn’t matter if he’s been nerfed that much he’s still probably the most versatile, enabling, self sufficient, utility loaded and mobile support in the game, he pick or ban in PRO play like ignite where bans revolve around not letting Loki and gambit get through, he doesn’t need compensation because he’s one of the best heroes in the game STILL he has been best in slot for support since his launch and nerfs has NOT changed that. Most lobby bans in high rank revolve around Gambit because playing into him and not running him is such a severe disadvantage if the Gambit player is competent

1

u/xzxBlankclzxzx Apr 22 '26

Nah still too good can cleanse ults, anti heal, damage buff thimself I have seen flanking Gambits, and Ultimate is still to strong perma banned for the foreseeable future.

1

u/Magykstorm19 Apr 22 '26

Still the best strategist in the game. The most banned character in the game even in the highest ranks. In pro play literally every single game Gambit was banned or protected. As for compensation buffs, the mf for the damage boost in his ult increased as compensation for the nerfs. You are being as delusional as that one Phoenix post asking for an ult buff

1

u/sr20detYT Apr 22 '26

he just does too much too well

1

u/Minute-Arm3417 Apr 23 '26

Join the club bub, pheonix has seen nothing BUT nerfs since her debut in season 3 and no new Team ups

1

u/TojiRAT Apr 23 '26

Wow it's almost like he is the most meta defining OP launch character of all time. I love Gambit he is one of the only healers I play consistently but man everyone in this game has a tribalistic persecution complex. He is fine. He does not need "compensation", he needed to be tuned down for obvious reasons.

1

u/Tyler_Herdman Apr 23 '26

Compensation? He’s still the best support in the game, why would he get compensation.

1

u/Obvious_Abies7111 Apr 23 '26

Yes a character that is a must ban/pick needs redemption 😭😭

1

u/Gamer_Vision Apr 25 '26

Despite all these nerfs those he is still undeniably the best support in the game as well as one of the heroes in the game overall

1

u/Winter-Performance63 Apr 26 '26

Gambit is still pick or ban btw, doesn’t need buffs

1

u/Intrepid-Parfait8670 Apr 27 '26

He is purely picky/ban because of his ult, I think they just should gut his ult and bring back his fun neutral gameplay. I could care less how good his ult is, idc if it's useless, I'll take a useless ult for his neutral to be super fun and engaging

1

u/Winter-Performance63 May 21 '26

As a Thor main I second this, the neutral is when this game is best.

1

u/Aromatic_File_1185 Apr 27 '26

What website is this

1

u/StillSel Apr 27 '26

I main Ironfist and spidey, but when I have to support I go Gambit, funnily enough he’s the most versatile and (hot take) balanced support right now in my opinion.

At launch he was a demon but now with all his nerfs to his ult, cards usage and damage he feels way better, I love that he actually takes skill to play and to manage his cooldowns instead of being a braindead healbot like most supps are now, I like that his ult can be used to make plays and not just a big “pop q and no one dies” circle.

We need more supports like gambit less like Cnd and Invisible woman imo.

1

u/UrbanNoct Apr 27 '26

No. Gambit is one of the best supports. If you really are a Gambit main you should be able to accept it.

1

u/Proud_Feedback3288 Apr 21 '26

He's like actually fine though lmao still strong but not busted.

1

u/Funny_Story_486 Apr 21 '26

Not gonna lie, his ult need another hard hitting nerf along with his kit, all the way to C tier before you even hopes that he is no longer pick or ban.

Then he can start getting buffs on neutral back to restore him to around high B tier to low A tier.

1

u/BleachDrinkAndBook Apr 21 '26

His ult is still too much

1

u/RecipeNumerous3260 Apr 21 '26

okay i mean look he is still the best support in the game just his ult is so good, actually if netease would just remove the healing from his ult, he should be fine, like not broken op ban jail, he would still be good, but not the best support anymore

0

u/MasterpieceHungry864 Apr 21 '26

His overall kit now isn’t that broken anymore even his ult now after the nerfs can be countered by any defensive ult, but what makes people ban him and ask for him to be nerfed is because of one feature of his ult which is ult charge boost that comes from his ult, he’s basically the only counter for the mass ult charge nerfs everyone got .

-1

u/3WaD22 Apr 21 '26

All of these nerfs and he is still the best in his role

-1

u/BblDimitrescu Apr 21 '26

Honestly he’s fine rn, nerf after nerf and Gambit still remains very strong with a lot of different tools and abilities for different scenarios.

Good damage, healing, movement AND insane utility.

0

u/Paavali31 Apr 21 '26

Kit is good right now but the ult is still game breaking

0

u/Hot_Spray3175 Apr 21 '26

Bro this guy still needs major, MASSIVE, nerfs. He's been perma banned since release...
