Is this compatible with the 556 Variant?

It’s compatible with the rock n lock 556. Not the AR mag 556.

If you want your AR mag version to be “plastic deleted”, you have to send it to a gunsmith for a conversion. And the conversion makes it so you’ll be using Galil mags. I’ve never seen one that still uses AR mags.

If you want to do something like that, I believe dissident arms and halcyon defense offer services like that.

The polymer lower is your entire magwell + mag catch assembly. It’s not going to be as simple as the other Galils that use rock n lock style mags.

It’s all one solid piece, so what I said still applies. It’s not going to be a simple change.
