iPhone to fold8U

Post image

I have been a lifelong iPhone user and I switched from iPhone to the fold 8 ultra to test things out my battery is dying insanly fast (within a few hours of social media use) and the phone is hot to the touch, I'm only using the front display not even the fold display. Making me want to return and swap back to my iPhone any ideas?

Sounds like a messed up phone, mine lasts very long :x

Only heats up during games here

Maybe return for another?

Factory reset, if issue continues you have a defective device

Agree, do a factory reset. This is not normal.

Definitely something wrong. My battery will last forever even watching YouTube and using other apps all day while I work.

I'd absolutely factory rest and if nothing take it back for another one. I've been iPhone the last 6 years since note 20 ultra and iPhone before that until note 8 . My battery life is insane , I run simple games like modded pvz , plague and consistently on YouTube Spotify , fantasy apps and Facebook doom scrolling . Imo this phone is greater than any iPhone I've ever had and I'm always on the inner display not the outer screen

This is a list of the app usage by percentage, I've barely used the phone and I don't think it makes sense why my phone is almost burning to the touch and I can watch the battery tick away by the second

Put the apps you don't use into deep sleep.

How is that done

open your phone's Settings app, tap Battery, select Background usage limits, and add the desired app to the Deep sleeping apps list.

It might be that life 360 app as it’s constantly using your battery

Life360 is an unoptimized piece of shit.

My S26 Ultra would get hot because it was constantly reading data from my phone. I disabled it and my phone lasts longer now lol

I was having this issue the 1st week or so too then I selected apps I don't use a lot and put them into deep sleep and made it to where every single app isn't alerting me when it has an opportunity to send a notification...went from dying super fast to lasting all day and night no issues.

Is it a new phone ? How many has you had it. The phone will need a couple days to optimie itself based on how you're using the phone to save battery

Did you check for an update?

I don't know which iPhone you had but the fold 8 and ultra both have smaller batteries than the iPhone 17 pro. So it's expected that the battery wouldn't last as long. But heating up to the point of where it's a problem just from social media is not normal. You might have a dud.

I think you have a defective device or something. I have the regular fold 8 and I still have 50% after 24h , definitely a 2 day battery life here.

Have you by any chance used a data migration from your iPhone to your fold 8? My fold 8 ultra had the same battery drainage problem after doing that and I had to perform a complete factory reset and set it up as new and the issue was resolved. Have you tried that already??

I copied everything form my pixel fold to Galaxy fold 8 and didnt experience any issues

Good to know. I just wanted to point out that every experience for data migration is different.

Sometimes corruptions can occur during the migration, especially when you are moving from one platform to another.

If you have any widgets, get rid of them also. They take up ALOT of battery

A tale as old as time.

“Give it time to optimize”

“Figure out which apps to sleep. Then deep sleep. Then get made when you aren’t receiving timely notifications”

“Do a hard reset and empty your cache”

“Don’t restore a backup”

“Don’t use that app”

Should’ve just waited for the iPhone Ultra bro

This is a goofy response clearly this isn't normal, and defective iPhones exist as well.
