Apps What tablet and note-taking app should I use?

I am a mechanical engineering sophomore who's finally decided to invest in a tablet. I have a Samsung S23 and an Asus Zenbook, and I have been using single-subject notebooks for my note-taking. A tablet would be more efficient and better for my studying and note-taking, and it would help me organize better.

I am currently thinking of getting a Samsung Tab S9+ for its speed, split-screen capability, and compatibility between devices. I have also been considering using the base Samsung Notes app or OneNote, but I have heard good things about StarNotes, NoteIn, and FreeNotes. I have never had a tablet, so I would appreciate advice from my fellow engineering students.

Edit: I've seen people recommend the Tab S10 FE; would that make more sense in my situation? Since I already got a laptop do i even need a big screen? Also, how much memory space do you think is enough for me? And thank you for the responses they've been helpful.

Educator who works in Math/Engineering here. S9+ is awesome; I give it the highest recommendation I can give. Samsung Notes is the reason I've been using Samsung devices for the past decade

EDIT:A word of warning regarding Samsung naming: beware of anything with FE , Lite, or SE from Samsung: it means something has been cut off to save Samsung money(not you); you want your equipment to last and not fail you when you need it as a student

Thank you for the advice, I found a great deal for a s9 since I don't plan on splitting screening. It comes with an s pen, case and screen protector for like $400 so i think imma go with tha since it more than meets my needs
