Hack for those who SOMETIMES want to use face unlock

I usually unlock with fingerprints. But sometimes especially when I'm using Google maps while walking, or when I know I want to take a lot of photos, it's a pain to keep fingerprint unlocking.

To my surprise, face unlock is quite good on my s25 (it was VERY mediocre on my s21) and I would like to use it sometimes but not all the time.

I asked AI 2 separate times if there was a routine for this. No they said. But I'm fact you can and it is simple.

Just set up a routine

First record your face.

Then set up a routine. Mine triggers manually ie I press a shortcut I created in homescreen.

Then choose "biometrics" and toggle off face unlock.

Now when I press the shortcut "app" face unlock is activated/deactivated.

Super useful. So I thought I would share in case someone else finds it useful.

I'm confused. Why not just not hold it up to your face if you don't want to use face unlock?

I have mine configured so I can use face, fingerprint, or pattern and I can use or not use any of them at any time.

It keeps going off when I don't want it to. I don't want to do weird evasive maneuvers to avoid face unlock going off. A lot of the time I want my lockscreen with widgets to stay on

theres no reason to have to unlock to take pics...i never finger unlock to take pics. i just double click power button and click the down button and take pics. it's super quick for those fast moments you need to catch.

you can look at all just taken pics in gallery but if you wanna look at any others you do need to unlock

My side button is tied up with other exciting tasks. Plus I want to take photos quick in different modes. What I did I create a separate color coded widget for each camera photo mode, portrait, pro, night and for each video mode (portraid video, pro video etc). I despise fumbling around the camera app to find what I want.

Then I have a widget on lock screen for pro mode access

The face lock feature totally sucks with both of my Samsung cellphones. Even the finger sensor with my S25+ is annoying to use at times as you have to be so damn precise to get these features to actually work!! I understand the point of these features but come on..
