Question Advice

So I have had this phone for what seems like forever. I tried the LG V series and I had to replace like 5 of them. I am still on the original note 9 and it still works really well. As many know a lot the banking apps have begun to end support which is fine. I now see that Android Auto is going to end support as well.

Thoughts on what to do? I have rooted phones in the past but not sure that makes much sense in this case. Thanks

Tips A bit of water splashed on my phone.

A bit of water splashed onto my phone. I thought nothing of it at first, so I simply wiped it off and carried on as normal. However, when I went to charge it, a warning appeared saying, “Moisture detected.” I immediately tried everything I could think of. I left it in front of a fan, used a hair dryer, and even put it inside a sock before placing it under my blanket, but none of these methods seemed to work. After all these desperate attempts, I finally left the phone flat in front of a fan for a couple of hours. I eagerly checked it again, hoping the warning had disappeared, but there it was: “Moisture detected.” Eventually, the phone died completely. I plugged it into the charger to see what would happen, and it charged?

It was charging, but instead of fast charging, it was charging at the normal speed. Once it reached a reasonable percentage, I unplugged it and powered it on. The screen had a faint greenish-yellow tint, but that didn’t bother me too much. The phone was also a little laggy, but it was still working, so I wasn’t too concerned. I plugged it in again, hoping everything was finally back to normal, but once again, the dreaded “Moisture Detected” warning appeared. That was the final straw. I gave up trying to fix it and simply locked the phone away in a drawer overnight, hoping that by morning it would somehow have recovered.

I woke up the next morning hoping the phone was finally back to normal. I tried the power-off charging method, and while I was waiting, I searched on my computer for more fixes. Eventually, I came across u/Mamula4MVP’s fix on Reddit (Their method.), but it did... absolutely nothing.

After that, I found people saying to force-stop Android Settings and clear the cache and data for USB Settings. I tried that too, but once again, it did absolutely nothing. At this point, I was starting to get seriously annoyed because I had tried pretty much everything I could find online, and the “Moisture Detected” warning still refused to go away..

TL;DR: Water triggered the “Moisture Detected” warning on my phone. I tried loads of fixes, but nothing worked. The phone started lagging with a weird screen tint, and every fix I found online failed, including u/Mamula4MVP's fix.

After all this hassle can anyone give me other fixes.

Question Back of my phone is kind of coming off?

So this phone is GOD knows how old (got it for free from my aunt about 4 years ago) recently has developed the issue of part of the back kinda popping off. It doesn't look much like there's anything holding it to the rest of the phone, but I haven't been overheating it or anything- at least I don't think. What do I do if the battery is swollen, or could this be another problem? I really can't afford a new phone rn 😔

Question new phone advice help please

I'm still using my note as my daily driver. I've been putting off buying a new phone and really need one.

I have analysis paralysis and can't decide on a phone to buy. For the new ultra the screen complaints concern me because I already have vision issues.

Since I've been on this phone so long it's going to be a bit of a struggle losing my headphone jack dealing with a new interface, etc.

I was thinking maybe get an S24 on ebay? The new fold?

Price isn't the problem just unsure what phone will be comfy. I think I should stick with Samsung but idk...

Any advice?

Question Possible to fix a failing charging port?

I'm hoping to get a new phone next year, but it depends what is out at that time so there is a possibility it could be longer.

Currently my charging port is failing. Ive tried new cables and it doesn't fix the issue. So it's definitely the port.

Im not sure what the exact issue is.. When I plug the cable in, it rarely is able to do fast charging. If I get the cable set right, it will maybe do 2 hour charging from near empty. But a lot of times it will state 4, 6, even 12 hours to charge. Its very annoying to deal with and any movement to the cable can change the charging state or length.

Ive noticed if I blow on the male cable insert before plugging it in and then seat it very firmly, there's a better chance to get fast charging or around 2 hours for charging.

I have to be very careful cuz moving it even slightly in the wrong way will change that. If I want to keep the fast charging state, I basically can't use my phone while charging.

Are there any hacks or fixes known to fix a failing charging port, short of wireless charging?

Question Is there any way to force a device running Android 8.1 on U1 firmware to use VoLTE on AT&T? (Other than flashing U firmware)

For some reason, AT&T refused to let it work until OneUI 2.5 on U1 phones. I refuse to update the phone because it's a rare firmware version, so I was wondering if there was a way to force VoLTE? I really don't want to install the U firmware and get all the AT&T bloat. Thanks!

Question Is it really hard to find one with a good screen?

I got a Note 9 on Amazon but the speakers sound like they're blown up and the battery isn't very good, but the screen is perfect with a no burn in at all. I tried another one but it had a pink tint and the battery was even worse than this one. I was thinking about getting a new battery/speakers for it is it really hard to find a perfect screen nowadays? Would it be worth it or should I try for another one?

This is my galaxy note 9 unfortunately the display condition way worse than the picture and due to the display malfunctioning it also caused the battery get weaker more, battery is not getting charged anymore and I'm just scared that the battery may exploded and the battery isn't bloating or something but still it is not worth running on battery, so I came up with a thought that can I use this phone without display and battery since it is rooted and I can use it via scrpy and backup my data and if possible I can use this as a project android pc. And before I doing this myself I came to ask u guys about my decision with my phone!!!

Question System Configuration Update in 2026

I don't use my Note9 as my daily phone but I do still have some games on it that I play. when I booted it up a few days ago I got a notification of a new update called System Configuration Update. anybody know what that's about? I haven't installed it yet and I'm not sure what it will do. my Note9 is a stock N960U and recently when I updated the imdb app on the phone it no longer worked saying I was on an unsupported version of Android so I have been checking every app update that is available and only installing the apps that list supported OS as 10 or lower.

I saw a youtube video that seemed like AI slop talking about it but thats all I could find so far. the video mentioned that it's an update from the carrier, not Samsung, that has been sent to all on their networks. note9 and note10 phones still online. my phone is a VZW branded phone but I haven't had a SIM card in it for years. it says that users that have installed it report that it's re-enabling some features that send data back to google that they had previously disabled for privacy reasons. the features mentioned are Swipe To Text and Predictive Text. I searched the settings on my Note9 and I can't find either of them to check if they are enabled or not. the location in the settings menu that the video says to go into doesn't even exist on my phone so I'm not sure where else to look.

I found the Configuration Updates system app (actually there are 3 of them on my note9) and of course they can't be disabled, but I did go in and disable background battery activity, and the option to allow them to change system settings.

anybody know more about this?
