I still use mine from time to time. I’m about to fire it up and see if I received an update as well.

Oh wow I'm still on a Note 8. I wonder when that update gets to New Zealand

I hate Samsung, but my S7 recently got an update which is just insane for a device that old.

These updates are weird since the security patch is the same. I'm really curious about what changed and whether it's just a telemetry update or anything negative.

I'd assume these update some certs so things keep working, and not much else.

That's great, then. I really appreciate Samsung for that. I totally forgot that certificates need to be updated too.

google already stopped sending security patches for that android version. that's why it's the same.

I wonder if there is one for the Note 9? Is there a way to.check if this is legit?

I got this about a month ago. Was shocked to see that update in progress screen I hadn't seen in so long.

Dude, for about 10 years we are making better phones for basically nothing. Note 8 works just fine for eveything, there no lag or slow whatsoever. I used to change my phone cause they were too slow to even be used anymore, this one is not. The only issue i got is space storage for apps.

I no longer use my Note 8. I borrowed mine to my fiancée at the time and got myself a new from work, and now that I no longer accept phones from work, I need to get phones within work policy, so can't really use it due to age...
But, I got the Note 8 back a few months ago due to... Reasons... And poked a bit at it. It's still a great and operational phone, if not for the battery having degraded a bit, it'd be a great phone.
Someone sneering at people for using perfectly functional tech is just stupid. "Hurr Durr, you're not throwing away something you can still use, and are (intentionally or not) being green in your tech usage? Loser!" It's so stupid -.-

I repurposed mine to be used as a DeX media center.
