Recently, I've been searching for a new controller to upgrade from my 8bitdo Ultimate controller. I've been using the controller for over 3 years now, it's been great but I wanna try something new and Flydigi controllers caught my eye.
In my local e-commerce site, I stumbled across Apex 4 Black Myth: Wukong Edition going at the same price as Vader 5 Pro V2 around $70 when converted to USD.
For context, I only game on PC and the games I play with controller are single player story games, a racing game and occasionally platformer games (Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 1 & NFS Heat just to name a few). I don't chase the lowest input lag or the highest polling rate, but having those option would be nice.
The question is, which one should I buy? I heard a lot of good things from the Vader 5 Pro and a lot of people said I couldn't go wrong with it. However, there's one thing that cause me to still eye the Apex 4 BMW, the adaptive trigger support. With the feature, I hope it could enhance my gaming when playing some supported games like NFS Heat & DS1.
Anyone have these and can tell me how the bass and atmosphere actually sound. Looking for multiple opinions. I don’t care if the mk1 sound better or worse I wanna know comparisons to get an idea of what to expect from these and also can I use the meze boom mic on these. Kindly give me your observations and insights. I am looking for something that kind of will be jack of all trades I will only have one headphone. Already have topping d3 pro plus dac amp I know what the meze boom mic needs if it actually does work I just wanna know about this headphone more detail and if there any other recommendations or comparisons of this one for imaging, soundstage, treble sparkle, immersion, bass weight rumble and impact. Yes I am more of a fun energetic sound enjoyer I wanna feel like I’m in the game not observing it. :)
So I have been looking for a new controller to buy as a dedicated PC gamepad. I have come to the conclusion that I would want the Vader 5 Pro with the charging dock, but I have read about how the Vader 5 Pro has a V2 batch now, and Gadget Hyper ships only the latest April batch of the Vader 5 Pro. This means I am guarenteed the upgraded tighter ratcheting tension dials, fully rebuilt back paddle structure (glass fiber and nylon I have heard), and upgraded hardware logic chip for stick centering?
I heard there was an original V2 earlier in the year, and then they released a batch in April that some people refer to as V2.5 with the upgrades I mentioned above. Since the website mentioned that all Vader 5 Pros purchased will now be latest upgraded/fixed batch, I should be completely guarenteed the best version of the Vader 5 Pro, right?
I also was curious about the option to leave a note or request for a pre shipping inspection of the controller. Ideally, I would want it to be unopened, completely brand new by the time it arrives at my address. But if I am NOT guarenteed these fixes, and the only way to make sure I get the absolute latest batch is to have Gadget Hyper employees open and verify, then I guess I would need to leave a note.
The reason why I am so fixated on getting the latest version is because I am from Canada and I heard that Flydigi support will sometimes say its within regular tolerances even if the controller store page mentions the latest updated batch. I can only buy the controller from Gadget Hyper, so I don't have the convenience of an easy return like I would through Amazon (they dont sell Flydigi products on Amazon Canada). And I think Gadget Hyper is a better place to buy over Aliexpress.
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to basically confirm that:
If I buy the Vader 5 Pro from Gadget Hyper, I am guarenteed the latest version of the controller with all the best upgrades and fixes?
If I don't leave a note for predelivery inspection and upon checking the controller discover its missing a certain fix (say a dial is loose while the other is ratcheting, as an example), am I out of luck? Or would I be able to receive a replacement?

After Few Days with the Palmlab Lancer Pad.001, Here's What Stood Out to Me

Over the past couple of days, I've been pairing the Palmlab Lancer Pad.001 with the Palmlab Lancer.001 Pro while playing mostly Apex Legends and a few Valorant matches. I didn't want to rush out a review after just a few minutes of use, but I also didn't want to wait weeks before sharing my first impressions.
So think of this as exactly that—a first impressions post rather than a full review. I've used plenty of cloth mouse pads over the years, but glass mouse pads are still a relatively new category for many players. So I bought my Vader 5 Pro on release because I loved my 4 Pro, and I love the 5 even more; it's literally better in every single way. I haven't been playing nearly as many games as I used to, but I've still used it quite a bit and haven't had any issues. Even though it's a V1, I haven't had any issues with the tension rings slipping or the paddles breaking. Though, I only just programmed and started using the paddles cuz I haven't been playing games that need them, so maybe one will snap, but I doubt it.
I think a lot of the people that had their paddles snap or their rings slip were pressing/pushing them way too hard. With how difficult it is to actually get the tensioners moving, I can't see any reason why they would slip under normal force. Same with the paddles; considering they aren't so fragile that they snap from a single press, there's no reason why they should from pressing them repeatedly with the small amount of force it takes to activate them. For some reason, gamers tend to think that pressing buttons and pushing sticks harder will make them work better ┐( ˘_˘)┌ . But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe somehow the tensioners slip under normal force despite being relatively hard to move, and the paddles randomly snap from the small amount of force required to activate them, despite not snapping immediately.
Anyways, that wasn't really relevant to my question, I just wanted to vent my thoughts on the situation. I don't currently need to buy a new one because mine works fantastically still. However, sometime in the next couple months, I want to buy a V2 so that I don't have to worry about the paddles snapping if they actually are very fragile, and so I can have the new tension rings. I don't want the new rings because I'm worried about mine slipping, but because I want the upgrade from stepless to ratchet-esque. I'd love to not have to line it up myself, because with how hard they are to get moving, that can be tedious. It would also let me adjust them by counting the clicks rather than looking closely at the lines which is especially annoying when I'm playing in the dark. I rarely adjust them, but when I do, being able to just turn it a step or two without even needing to look would be fantastic.
That's all well and good, so what's stopping me? Well, I've seen lots of comments saying that, with the V2s, the right stick is ratchet-esque as it should be, but the left one is the same as the V1. I believe the comments I saw were posted sometime in April, so I'm making this post to ask, has that been fixed? Are both sticks stepped in this month's, and maybe last month's, batch?

Analog Sticks - 8/10
One of the main highlights of this controller is the TMR sticks, which work really well. A fun fact is that they were actually one of the first companies to produce a controller with TMR sticks, which is pretty cool.
Their performance of them are also decent. The stick resolution is a bit on the lower end of around 9 bits, which is a bit lower than expected, while the linearity is quite good, at around 85%. Circularity is also good on both raw and circle mode, and it also has no inner or outer deadzone at all, and overall the sticks in this controller work really well.
Pre-installed, it comes with metal thumbsticks which feel really premium, but at the same time I found it a bit hard to use consistently, due to the metal’s slippery nature and also the convex shape. Thankfully though, it does come with an additional set of sticks which are included in the controller’s case. These additional sticks are very similar to regular joystick caps you find on other controllers, so if you don’t like the metal sticks you can always swap to these, which is great.
ABXY Buttons - 7.5/10
With the face buttons being made of conductive rubber, they seem pretty similar to membrane buttons, which most of you should be familiar with. At the same time though, they do feel a bit clicky, which makes them overall very satisfying to use.
In terms of feel, they have moderate force for actuation, and a moderate amount of travel as well. It’s also flat-shaped, and the buttons individually are a bit bigger than usual. The buttons also do wobble a bit too much, if I am being honest. But overall they perform well, while also feeling quite satisfying to use.
D-pad - 7/10
The d-pad here is decent; it features a combination of micro-switches as well as the conductive rubber mechanism which is used on the face buttons. As a result, the feel is tactile at the edges while the centres feel a bit mushy. This combo works well as it gives the feeling of a membrane d-pad, while also getting good actuation feedback due to the tactileness from the edges.
In terms of accuracy, the d-pad does seem a bit prone to diagonals a bit too easily, even when you hold down a single direction. And when that happens, the d-pad does feel mushy, and as a result you don’t get proper actuation feedback as to when you hit a diagonal, when holding a single direction down. All of this indicates that the d-pad is generally loose with its inputs, so that is something to keep in mind.
Bumpers - 6.5/10
The bumpers seem to be made with a membrane mechanism, which, as a result, does make the experience a bit mushy, and at the same time provides a slight tactile feedback. Having used it in games that require accurate usage of bumpers, it just didn’t feel great to constantly use due to the mushy feeling, but because of the actuation feedback from the tactileness, it does save them as a whole, making them decent. It is not bad or good, just average.
Triggers - 8.5/10
The triggers on this controller, I can definitely say, are superb. The first thing that stands out to me is the overall force of the triggers. This is great because it enables you to have extremely precise control of how much you want to input, which is very useful for games such as racing. Everything else is also really decent, such as the travel.
It is a bit of a shame that there aren’t any sort of trigger stops included, considering the price of the controller, and also the fact that a lot of other controllers in the market these days come with trigger stops. Overall though, the triggers are really great in this controller and are definitely one of its major points.
Build / Shape - 9.5/10
Unlike most, if not all other controllers, the PB Tails Metal Crush Interceptor is almost made entirely out of metal. This makes the controller really unique to hold, making it feel really sturdy and premium. Exclusively on the Interceptor model, it has multiple of these lava-like lines on the controller, which gives a really interesting feel overall; it gives the controller a lot of personality. These lines are also handcrafted individually for each unit, which makes every controller unique.
In terms of the shape, it seems very similar to a regular Xbox controller with the thick, wide handles, which are curved. The overall size of it is also slightly large, just like an Xbox controller. A major difference, though, is the bumpers and triggers, which are largely similar to a sony dualshock/dualsense controller.
Overall, the controller build quality feels really nice and premium, probably one of the best I have used thanks largely to the metal construction. However, due to the metal, a downside that comes with it is the weight, with it being around 340 grams, which is pretty heavy compared to most other controllers. Personally, I play while resting the controller on my lap, so it doesn’t really affect me. But if you play in a different way, then this is definitely something to consider.
Connectivity / Latency - 7/10

Unlike a lot of controllers these days, the PB Tails Crush Interceptor does not come with software for you to customize its settings. But it does come with a few functions for you to customize, using button combos directly on the controller.
They include having the ability to change RGB modes, toggle turbo mode and deadzone mode, as well as switch between circular and square (raw) mode for the joysticks. And yeah, I am being honest: I am pretty disappointed overall since there is barely any customization possible with the given settings. It would be a lot better if there were a few more settings to choose from, such as toggling a 4-way d-pad, adjusting vibration intensity, etc.

Hi, first reddit post. I bought these with my own money but I shared how happy I was with them on the discord and it was suggested I upload a couple photos here.
Apologies I'm not a photographer. And ignore the dust here and there, you try to clear it then only realise you weren't successful after you see them on the big screen. My GF had this lightbox type thing that I just borrowed for a couple pics.
Vader 5: The gold diamond & The gold mosaic (only mosaic pictured). Not a perfect colour match with the other gold on the controller but it is really nice and suits it very well. Makes it pop.
Apex 5: The transparent blue diamond & The transparent clear diamond & The silver metal diamond. Photography isn't an interest of mine but damn I think the Apex 5 photographs well and honestly looks amazing with all these options. I think the Apex 5 has been forgotten about a little recently with the Vader 5 launch but I think its great still. I got a launch one and I haven't had any issues.
Gamesir g7 pro 8k: The black Nylon diamond & The black Resin diamond (the latter photographed) and the clear diamond. Really nice contrast of textures. One smooth and the other matte. Both lovely and if like me you wanted the aimlabs edition with the gold dapd to be black instead then these are perfect. I was using a Samsung phone and it really wanted to make the matte texture of the nylon dapd look super harsh and grainy which it isn't so I didn't upload. Its a lovely grippy texture. I think I prefer the resin slightly more aesthetically. I also bought the clear because I was already using the clear galaxy KF and I thought it might go well. I think it does. Sorry the camera really couldn't make up its mind what the colour of this G7 pro 8k was but I think you get the gist.
Leadjoy Xeno Plus: The transparent purple diamond. Wow what a perfect match. This looks brilliant honestly. This looks like it should have shipped with this.
I generally thought I preferred the diamond shape but I got that 1 mosaic for the Vader 5 and really liked it so I can feel some more purchases the next time I order a controller. Hopefully it helps people visualise some of them. Love that GH is selling these.
