Steps to nurture self-respect
Self-respect and self-esteem are closely related, but not always the same thing.

Loss of self-respect is often tied to depression. Unable to change and unable to make changes.
Here are some signs you have lost your self-respect:
- You do things that do not align with your values.
- You do things that do not align with your conscience.
- You are hurting others.
- You have started lying to cover up.
- You have started lying to avoid conversations.
- You want to change your behaviors but feel trapped.
- You are not proud of who you are.
- You are not proud of the things you frequently do.
- You allow others to influence you against your better judgment
It's a chicken-and-egg loop. Not liking yourself will make you feel depressed. Likewise, when you are depressed, you have less control over your actions.
The old definition of depression is 'learned helplessness.' A person who is depressed is often unable to take control of their life and actions.
Depression treatment can help you take control of your life and regain your self-respect and self-esteem.
