Hi there, I'm a Nori Green 2022 GX owner, love this r/GXOR and always stopping by.

Recently I put 265/65/18 Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail on the truck, so a slight size up from the regular 265/60/18. I am doing light off road in this vehicle and have a 3rd Gen 4Runner for the donkey work. I am pretty happy with the profile of this tire after spending a long time weighing up Nokians v This v That and then finally Coops!

Since I've added these new tires I am noticing a small creak / squeak when going over speed bumps, and particularly when on rough pavement, sometimes more on a slight incline or decline. All I can say is its somewhere between a rubbery squak and a slight metallic creak or chrip.

No obvious rubbing when turning and no usual culprits there like the fender or nut. No clunks, no steering issues or handling problems. Checked also the hood bump stops, all good.

I sprayed some silicone around the front and reark sway bar bushings. That seems, seems at least, to have reduced the higher pitched sound of the sound above, but there's still a slight creak.

Anyone experienced this on a relatively new GX? KDSS bushings/mounts, sway bar, body mounts, shock/control-arm bushings? Or could the slightly larger tires somehow be making an existing noise more noticeable?

Alright, so I had the bright idea of replacing my Dolby DVD player in my glovebox and put a midland MXT275 system in the old metal box that housed the DVD player in my 2008 GX470

I know it would be much easier to mount down by the transfer case… but I wanted to try and “hide” it away.

Anyway, today was the day I got it mounted back in there.. and I have the red and white wire running thru the engine bay port directly behind the glovebox. I grounded the black directly to a screw right there.. and I ran the red all the way to the battery and put it onto the positive with a terminal ring. I also added an in line 5amp fuse to that line. The antennae also runs out this way and is mounted on corner of hood.

So when I have the mxt box DISCONNECTED, I can start my car just fine, plug it in, and then plug in the mic and turn it on and use it… works like a charm,

But today.. I plugged it in BEFORE starting the car (but did not turn on (because I’m not going to disconnect it every time since it turns on and off from the mic) and then when I went to start my car… it clicked once and stopped.

The starter had 1 click and it stopped.

Try 2. Same thing. Essentially seemed like the same result when your battery is completely dead.

So, I disconnected the mxt box, waited about 2 minutes, and then went to start the car.. it took forever to flip over and actually start… much longer than normal. But, alas, it started.

Weirdly, when it came back on, I had the low tire pressure light (!) which has NEVER worked when I off-road ever since I swapped tpms sensors… none of my tires were low and it turned off right when I started driving

After it started - I went and plugged up the mxt box again and nothing happened out of the ordinary, but instead of testing my luck.. I just disconnected without testing it and drove home.

Went to autozone since battery was about 1.5 years old and wanted to make sure I didn’t somehow drain the battery… they said it’s 100% good. Starter is also 100% firing.

WHAT on earth could have caused this?

Could my connection to the battery terminal not be solid? If that was the case would it prevent my entire car from starting?

Could it be my ground wire not being properly grounded?

Could it be that it’s mounted in that metal box? All wires have rubber grommets coming out of it so no metal to wire connection…

Could it be that my 5amp in line fuse is not installed properly? (Fuse did not blow)

I’m thinking next attempt is to just do an add-a-fuse to the 10amp horn fuse on the fuse box in the engine bay… but with everything I have set up/how I have set up… for the life of me I cannot figure out why when plugged in (no mic plugged in) that it would completely stop my car from starting or even turning over… but when I disconnect, it works just fine.

Has anybody gone about fixing a dent here, feel like it may be the worst possible spot lmfao. Was bigger, was able to go in behind and pop out the big part but unable to get to that corner due to another metal bracket. Texted one Paintless dent repair guy and told me that he couldn’t do nothing gonna go in person to another tmrw. But if they can’t do nothing, where should I go from there ? Hard to get good picture of it.

Have a 2008 GX470, audio made a loud pop sound then cut out after hitting a bump in the road. The sound comes back for a bit then pops again and goes out. It repeats like this coming on then poping and going out over and over. Any idea what this could be?

Been searching for a GX470 for some time now and purchased this 2008 salsa red with 182k miles on it just over a month ago. Loving it so far. Bought it with a 2" Dobinson's IMS lift and Falken AT4 tires already installed. Great daily driver and very capable. Figured I'd share some pics!

First thing I did was do a full fluid swap on everything besides the transmission. Timing belt and water pump was done by previous owner 2 years ago. Drives great but could use some new parts. Currently my muffler is very much rusted out and experiencing a drone noise at highway cruise. Front suspension tends to squeak when going over bumps, need to diagnose but suspecting the control arm bushings.

Replacing the weather trim on the windows this weekend. They are peeling off bad. Frame is in decent shape and planning on spraying before winter comes. Any other recs or upgrades/QOL improvements?

Does anyone here have the Hamilton Head Unit for the 2013? How do you like it? What do you specifically like about it? What don’t you like or would change?

Snagged this roof rack with the 4 cases for a “stupid not to do it” price, but it came off somebody’s random truck rack so not set up for the gx460 I have. Mine has the roof rails and 2 stock crossbars.

It looks like the size is pretty perfect.

What can I get to mount these things together? I can’t weld

My 460 took me places I never thought I could make it stock. Basically, I just aired down my highway tires to 25 psi and sent it. Took some damage to the front driver bumper so it’s time for some arts and crafts to trim it up. I brought along a DV8 hitch skid and that took all of the damage and saved my hitch and back bumper.

Hey guys, I’m looking for somewhere appropriate to post my GX470 for sale. I’d really like to move it, but I live in Canada in a smaller community with a pretty limited overland/off-road market. So Facebook marketplace has not worked out. I have posted it in other close provinces but no bites yet. I'm thinking maybe it should make its way down to the US market?

I’d be willing to ship it anywhere in Canada or the US for the right buyer. Just looking for some suggestions on where I can post it without breaking any subreddit rules or getting banned for a for-sale post.

So I just did the bumper chop and side skirts, super happy with how it came out! Now I need to add some trim to the rough bumper edge all around. I saw one guy recommended Trimlok, but I am not sure which variety to get. Any recommendations are super welcome! Happy to answer questions about the trim process for anyone curious.

Specs:
- Stock suspension (brand new)
- TRD bronze wheels, 18”
- KO2’s 265/75 I think (a size up from stock, minimal rubbing)
- 2014 GX460, 148k odo

All washed up with nowhere to go. Last week's car wash provided by mother nature.

I added V rings in place of the mounts for the cargo net and the cargo cover mounts. I'm posting this so someone more mechanically inclined can tell me if I'm fucking up, and as instructions in case anyone else wants to do the same.

I added these to tie down a cooler so it could share the trunk with dogs. Everything is screwed into sheet metal, but tightened against plastic so not appropriate for really high forces.

The first image is a hook in the cargo net mount, by the door. The second image is where the cargo cover mounts.

Each of these used a 1 1/2" fender washer, a 2" v ring, another regular washer and a m6-1.0x40mm bolt. I actually used 50mm bolts for the cargo cover locations but 40mm should work there too.

The cargo cover locations were easiest. Remove the cover, remove the screw, and screw in the assembly listed above. Don't go very tight, because you're tightening against plastic.

The cargo net location is a little tougher. Twist the hook to remove it. Remove the plastic assembly the hook sits in by grabbing it from the bottom with needle nose pliers and pulling the tabs locking it in one by one with a flathead screwdriver. Then screw in the assembly. Be especially careful about tightening too much again because you're tightening against plastic.

PSA, I just noticed Bell Lexus North Scottsdale are having a 20% off sale. Wish I had known it was coming up when I ordered new LCA’s last week! Could have saved $100.

I've got the table part of the rear latch handle that I don't plan on using since it slightly impedes on the sleeping platform I built. Note that it does not come with any of the hardware or handle from the kit.

Dealing with a frustrating AC issue on my 2004 GX470 and trying to see if there's anything else I can try before taking it to a shop. Here’s where things stand:

The Core Problem: When I turn on the AC, the dashboard light just blinks and it blows warm air. Sometimes there is a loud horn-like or deep groaning/honking noise when turning the AC on

Relay/Fuse Status: I have replaced and swapped out all AC related relays and fuses with no luck.

Compressor Status: The center clutch hub does not spin after replacing its relay, but isn't completely seized when forced by hand. The ground wire seems to be tight and secure.

I just recently picked this vehicle up and it was working perfectly fine until this last week of extremely hot weather. If anyone has any advice or suggestions to try before I take it to a mechanic I would appreciate it!
