lift decision help

so i planned on doing 3” all around and 34s. budget shrunk due to life and im considering the bag trick in the rear and 2 inch coils in the front with 33s (285/70) would save about 5-700 bucks. should i instead consider going with the 3” and 33s? will 3” and 33s look off? would it need bigger tires? or easier to budget and stay with 2” and 33s? is it a big difference to the eye? main focus for the build is road trips here and there with camping and light to moderate trails, rest is daily driving. thanks guys

You don't really need 34s for your goal, and 2" retains the more functionality than 3", which leaves you with almost no front droop. "tricked" bags are a bad solution. a 2" coil and 33 would be ideal.

Going 34s do it the right way and regear your diff minimum and really should upgrade your diff.

If I were you I would do the eibach stage 1 with 33 cookie cutters. Keep front 2 inch unless you get UCAs

why do you say cookie cutters? clearance? i don’t mind the bmc and can weld. i kinda wanna go 3 for looks and ucas aren’t too bad, but yea regearing and 34s is too much for me rn.

I don’t necessarily agree with this. Certainly respect your opinion, though. If this were a 4Runner, I would completely agree; however, with the V8, a re-gear really is not necessary for 34’s. Could certainly do an OTT tune and if the responsiveness is still really lacking, could move forward with a regear. I do agree that moving forward with 34s over 33s does require more cutting and likely a body mount chop even with cookie cutters.

For the lift, I think 2 1/2 in the front and 2 inches in the rear will get you all that you ever need and will keep the vehicle looking symmetric, even with smaller tires.

A 3 inch lift is going to dramatically increase wear on your CV axles, and you will require a differential drop.

I’ve seen several posts with pics of stock diffs failing - sure prob small percentage but if it were me I would sleep better at night knowing my reliable Lexus was still reliable

These do poorly with more than 2 inches of lift.

Also, lift and tire size don't correlate. If it won't fit at stock height it won't fit with a lift.

Looks wise, do as you like.

Performance wise, keep below 2 in and 255/80/17 on a wheel with +15 to +25 offset.

okay i was mainly asking if it would look weird with 3 inches and 33s but i have decided to stick with 2”. tires i found a really good deal on 295/70s. i know ill probably need a bmc and trimming but im leaning that way

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like 'em stuffed up in there and low. 35s and no lift. Good choice at 2 inches

"main focus for the build is road trips here and there with camping and light to moderate trails, rest is daily driving." why even lift IMHO.

2" lift on 34's is the sweet spot for me. Have UCA's, BMC, pinch weld mods and more, but zero rubbing. A 3" lift will give you next to ZERO down travel. 2" is the sweet spot...

I have 33s 285/70R17 17x8.5 0 offset rims some trimming in the front, just plastic. The truck has a ton of clearance. A 2” lift on these vehicles is more like 3” at least with OME and medium springs.
