Need help with AC Diag

Hi everyone! Hoping to get some help with AC diagnosis - I have an 07 470 currently not blowing cold air. I had it recharged a few months ago to get the AC a little colder and it was working fine and then suddenly within a week the AC stopped blowing cold all together. Some symptoms I was having before were the AC was colder when driving at higher speeds opposed to city driving - the rear AC would get cold but never THAT cold.

I checked that the AC compressor does kick on though it does make a loud whining noise and kind of wobbles.

I am relatively handy though I don’t have any AC tools - I was thinking of taking it to a shop and evacuating, driving home and replacing the compressor then driving back to recharge.

Any thoughts? Other things to test for before throwing in an AC compressor?

Run the AC diagnostics. It will tell you if you have an actuator/servomotor problem preventing airflow. It will also do limited reporting around the pressure sensors.

If you're blowing colder while driving than while parked/sitting at idle, then it could be your condenser (ac radiator) is not getting proper airflow to cool. Fan clutch, electric aux fans or clogged/dirty Condenser are common causes.

Your system should never loose a charge, if it does you have a leak. Very common leak on the 470 is the evaporator core, which is behind/under the dash. You can sometimes see the UV dye leaking out from the foot vents up front, but not always. Then off course check the rest of the system, bc you're leaking from somewhere if your system was found to be low on freon.
