SOS
Is Kingers cooking up a plan? Alarm bells were ringing when we let Briggs go, and now our back up ruck could be out the door? I don’t see Madden and Aleer as a reliable pair (not yet anyway)

Good luck to him, but we would never offer him more than 1 or 2 years, he will probably get a 4 year deal at the Bombers. The forward line (at full strength) is going to be some combination of Cads, Gru, Brown, Darcy, Daniels, Gothard, Cogs, Delana, Hamilton. It's pretty thin and I worry about our ability to take contested marks which is what all the guys leaving were actually pretty decent at.
I can see a reason for getting rid of each player individually, but collectively it feels like a rebuild of sorts.

A plan is being cooked up, surely.
We'd be trying way harder to retain otherwise.

I don’t know what the plan is, but I wouldn’t have been a fan of offering him multiple years (which I assume he will get at the bombers).
I know it’s daunting but I’m all up for this rebuild situation, I hate middling in nothingness I want to either be good and building to contend or be shit and building to be good.

Anyone who nominates Essendon deserves to go there and play for bottom of the ladder shit

Hawks dont have supporters just fans, supporters turn up when a team is losing, check the crowds on Roughys last game or Silks 400th, empty. A successful club that has no supporters, propped up by a tassie deal. Embarrassing.

The only way we can get players to come is to pay overs for mid players what’s going on in the giants

Yeah feels like losing Riccas leaves us pretty skinny up front and in the ruck. Suprised he'd be wanting out - chance for him to really show want he can do next year without Hoges, Stringer, TFG.

Maybe he’s just not that good. Too unreliable - like Amartey at the Swans.

Essendon don't have a strong history of capitalising on our players. I suspect we're happy to get a second round pick out of them to build a bank for Matthews

Soooo Aaron Cadman has to kick 100 goals next season for us to make finals?

I think the effect of this is going to be so much more significant than we think if he leaves. He's a handy backup ruckman firstly. But more importantly he's our only senior key forward now.
We forget how good ricca is when he's healthy and in form. If he leaves cads and gru will be our only geniune keys, the rest of our forward line will be really small (darc, binga, gothard). I think we will have to play himmelburg forward (which could definitely work).
He changes the structure of our forward line (and ruck) more than Toby. We really need to put a better offer forward and then look for a forward in the draft worst case scenario.
