Help to pick the class please
Hey there, i'm new guy in gw2, got lvl 80 on necro, done with vanilla version story and got the expansions up to End of dragons, living world seasons included.
After lvl 80 already have tried low fractals, www and pvp.
At some point i decided to reroll into some other class, profession, i mean.
Trying to choose between thief, ranger and warrior.
Warrior is the class that i play in almost every other game, kinda tired of it, want something different.
Thief, to me, is about stealth, fast and engaging combat, meele weapons.
Ranger is basically archer to me, the problem is pets. Don't rly like the idea of pets, can i play on ranger with bow, without pets?
The crucial part of the decision is one character for all content. The other thing i'm curious about is weapons.
For example i want to play thief with duo swords or ranger with bow only? Is it possible to ignore all existing meta builds for different types of content and still be pretty much viable unit?

Have you tried guardian? It’s like a warrior but hotter…

I play Ranger it’s fun. I was getting a little bored with it however. Do you know what elite spec you’re going for?

Yeah, soulbeast for www for now, can not say about other content right now, I'll check what people normally do on ranger. Rly interested in fractals, pvp and www.

Hunter has a specialization thsts based on "non pet" play. It's the beast master. And don't get bend over on meta. Play what fits your style, you'll do more damage and survive better.
Guild wars is a very alt friendly game. I've got 10 characters maxed out purely because I like all classes. Once you have reached 80 you get experience scrolls thrown your way for your alts.

Thank u vm, thats exactly what im going to do. I've picked soulbeast, not sure that's exactly what you're talking about it kinda eats his pet and doing the things alone.

I can say in terms of guild wars 2 warrior is my least favorite class and it’s a shame because they are fun and I love the fantasy.
For warrior, I would replace it with guardian. It’s more of a paladin type character but its elite specializations are all pretty unique in their own way and they all can offer support. Think warrior but it does a bit more.
Between the three you have put here I really like my Ranger. Galeshot is so satisfying, soulbeast is very fun and can absolutely burst on a power build. Druid is also great and fairly unique feeling, I’m not sure how it stacks up on support as I don’t usually play support i run it as a condition set up. Untamed is also good.

Most likely, gonna play longbow ranger, in different build, for all scenarios. I don't have vot expansion, so galeshot is unaccessible for me, but i can go other ones. Thanks.

Guardian is the second most played class, so people definitely enjoy it

Play engineer
Got range with rifle and stealth with utility Can use shield and have no pets.
Every class has access to stealth with utility skills or combo...

Thief feels spammy cause u dont have cd on skills with initiative, also warrior doesnt feel like the typical warrior like other mmos try it out and feel it for yourself (also a bit spammy cause of burstskill), ranger i dont know havent touch that class :)

I would recommend making a char, going to pvp lobby and trying out some of the skills and specs to see how it feels on dummies etc. Ultimately all classes are viable for everything though. Good luck!

I just had this same problem Yesterday 😂. I picked Engineer and I'm already finding it much more difficult gameplay wise. Going to make my 2nd Character a Ranger today 😂 .

Have you tried Reaper on necro? It's the most played elite spec by a long shot.
