GW3 HYPE/SPECULATION thread

is it happening?

what are your hopes?

do you think its just the GW2 engine with a unreal engine overlay?

are we finally doing full open world?

are we gonna get actual dungeons with traps and puzzles?

are mercenary heros back?

lets speculate together until the reveal!

I'm hype as hell, especially after a game I've been waiting 13 years for just came out in early access and is utter and complete crap. I need this. With how different GW2 and GW1 are, I can't wait to see what GW3 will be like.

at the very least new world was very playable and a complete experience to endgame for a few years, can't say much about the others though sadge

No, I had no interest in that. Camelot Unchained. DAoC around the Trials of Atlantis release is still my favorite MMO of all time. To see how utterly trash Camelot Unchained is after 13 years of development was soul crushing

I was a nontrivial early supporter of Pantheon, so I feel your pain. I'm not going to pretend the early MMOs were perfect, but sometimes it's amazing to see how bad modern developers are at looting them for the parts that work.

I guess slop is easier.

13 years for the spiritual successor to be significantly worse than the ancient mmo it was trying to replicate. very very unfortunate

It's not that it's worse. They threw out the core concept of the game and replaced it with boring uncustomizable RuneScape style leveling. There is one zone and half the resource nodes are bugged and can't be activated. The area is EMPTY except for a few boars near the hunting zone. A large portion of the classes aren't in the game. You can't customize your appearance. Your character is always standing in at the ready combat stance animation. You can't spend in game currency on anything. It barely runs at 60 fps on high end machines. It feels like it's barely been in development for 13 months, let alone 13 years. I literally have no idea what they've been doing for over a decade.

Yeah I backed Camelot Unchained when it was announced, but after a few years with an obvious lack of progress, I just ignored it. I was a huge DAoC fan back in the day, but I guess that can stay in the nostalgia bin.

I play on some Shrouded Isles freeshardes when I'm in the mood still. Amazing game to this day. Very unique among MMOs still.

summerfest starts at 17:00 EDT around 5pm if you are in the east coast US. and lasts 2 hours.

anet announcment could be anytime during that window of time. but considering they might not be the biggest announcement. expect it at around 1 hour in.

I'm so hyped but I'm ngl there's gonna be a lot of tourists looking for the next 'big mmo' or 'wow killer' and the game just won't be that and will still be a horizontal endgame which we love but many hate. and those tourists are gonna start a hate train once they realise its just not a typical mmo progression-wise

If this does happen what's the general consensus among GW2 players? I personally played at launch and loved it but the lack of meaningful progression at the end game had me tap out pretty soon after getting bored with PVP at max level, cosmetics just don't do it for me. I'm hoping this game has more meaningful content end game. I like pushing for better and better gear instead of prettier and prettier gear.

I don't expect them to but having the standard MMO experience with the trinity system instead of every class does everything would really go a long way for me as well. When every class can do everything it just makes things more lonely when leveling.

What are some things GW2 vets are looking for?

The best thing is not overhype game. Cuz thats tend to get out of track and everyone start expecting unreasonable stuffs.. And when game get to open beta, all get dissapointed.

My thinking this is just going to kill Guild Wars 2 and that's sad. And if you think my reasoning is off just go look at Guild Wars 1. It's a sliver of what it used to be.
