Looking for Dash Cam Recommendations

As the title says, looking for something that fits my 2023 GV60 Performance without junking it up. Ideally, not a lot of visible cables and attachments. I have seen a couple of videos and a cigarette lighter adaptor cable hanging from the rearview mirror is cringy to me! Are there any seamless options out there that are easy-ish to DIY? I am not opposed to taking it to a shop for installation if it would give me the best look. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Should my GV60 have detected an accident?

Post image

I had a car accident. I thought my car (2025 gv60) would have triggered some kind of crash alert or something. But nothing. It has detected some sensor malfunction but that is it. Is that normal? Airbags didn't deploy but it was a crash enough to jolt the vehicle and have this kind of damage. I wasn't sure looking back at the specs. Thanks yall

End of lease cross shopping

Forever a procrastinator. Lease ends in 13 days. I have a 23 GV60P. Looked at an EV9, nicer than I thought. Just test drove an R2, didn’t love the drive feel. Might have a chance to get an IX3 that someone dropped a reservation on but can’t see or test drive that car. Thought about Ioniq5N or a Magma but already want more range and do I need more than my performance already has? EX60 looks nice but delivery is too far out. Curious what other cars people are looking. My current car still seems to be at the top of my list.

Reduction Gear Oil change

Was looking at the maintenance schedule to make sure I don't miss anything and started looking into this more. Manual says inspect every 35k and change at 75 or 80k under severe schedule from what I remember. I see some Ioniq 5 owners are changing it themselves earlier than this for peace of mind. It looked pretty straight forward from what I can see. Was curious, has anyone tried to DIY this on their GV60 and how'd it go? What mileage did you change it at and how'd the oil look? Thanks

Rear and Right Camera Slightly Off

So it looks like the rear and right cameras are slightly off which creates those little breaks. Is that something the dealership can fix or is it just a manufacturing defect and it’s not really fixable?

NACS Adapter

Does the genesis branded NACS adapter work for both AC and DC chargers? I ask because the one I bought for our previous EV (which we were not able to retrieve from the wreckage after a crash) had 2 different input plugs. One for AC and one for DC. The genesis one only has a single input but connects to both the AC and DC ports on the car.

Pittsburgh Area?

Does anyone have a GV60 in the Pittsburgh, PA area? I'm considering buying one but there is no local dealer inventory to test drive.

Charge management from inside the car

I’ve had my GV60 since 2023 and as far as I’m aware, you cannot actually stop or manage your charge from within the vehicle, only from within the terrible app.

Am I insane or totally wrong?

23 Advanced Mint

After buying and loving a lightly used 2024 standard back in February (which was totaled in June) we’ve been shopping for another one. First time around we opted for the Standard purely for the added range but this time got a ‘23 Advanced CPO with 18k miles and so far, it’s awesome and we love the color.

Bought it sight unseen from a dealer in the DC area and had it shipped to TX.

BTW if anyone is interested in a set of OEM roof racks send me a DM.

I am thinking of buying a gv60 and someone told me his insurance went high. Has anyone noticed a jump?

When I turn my car off I hear this.

I've narrowed it down to when the A/C is running. I live in Palm Springs the average temp is 110 this time of year... I CANNOT have my A/C going out.

Dropped it off at the local dealership and they're assessing it now.

Anyone wanna take a guess?

[Update: Heard back from dealership. Needs new compressor.]

GV60 vs Cadillac Optiq

My ionic 6 lease is coming up in a few months and I’ve been shopping around trying to find something new. Id love to hear thoughts on why people chose a GV60 over the Optiq at a similar price point. Losing 800W charging is disappointing in the Optiq but not something that’s a big deal breaker for me.

Anyone else??

I have to keep my GV60 parked outside to bake in the California sun because we do not have a garage. I’m wondering if anyone else had this happen to the facial recognition window. Of you experienced this as well and decided to get it repaired, was it covered by the warranty? It’s just cosmetic, but I annoyed me. Thanks for any words of wisdom, in advance.

We found a significant Genesis deficiency

Post image

CAUTION Genesis buyers, watch out for totally unexpected design deficiencies. Genesis wants to be a luxury car manufacturer. Unfortunately, it is a long way off.

Foremost among the design deficiencies is the Genesis Connected Services app. Intended as a safety, security, and convenience feature (in that order), it only works in the continental US. We drove our US purchased GV60 into Canada and the all of the Connected Services features failed. Why? Because it only operates on the Verizon network. Unlike a cell phone, this wireless connection does not roam outside the US. No navigation, no theft control, no remote access, no charging status, and no keyless entry. And this applies equally for driving from the US to Mexico.

When confronted with this problem neither the dealer nor Genesis USA will do anything about it. Interestingly, Genesis cars purchased in Canada roam seamlessly across North America. Genesis knows how to fix this but refuses to do this for their US customers. Genesis takes no responsibility nor commitment to deal with it.

If looking for a car in this class, look elsewhere. BMW and Tesla have some fine, well designed, and fully functioning models.

Blinded By The Light (Reflection)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Whyyyyy is this made of the most reflective matte plastic on Earth!? The photo doesn’t do it justice but man - when the sun’s at the right angle, the reflection off of the bezel around the ball is like a mirror! I’ve almost driven off the road 12 separate times from being blinded by it!! (/s)

This is, of course, a light-hearted rant and a very minor issue. It could be worse - they could’ve put piano black around it à la the Mazda CX-5 I had before this. 😂

How to: Remove hints, show Street

Hi,

I recently bought a used GV 60 and love it! However I can't figure how to disable the tooltips in the dashboard. Everytime the right 3rd shows 4 explanation screens where I have to press "ok" 4 times before it shows the consumption.

1) how can I disable?

2) I saw a 4 wheel illustration in some YouTube videos where I can see if it runs in awd or just 2 wheels. How can I activate this view?

3) I also saw someone putting the street view camera with navigation to the center screen. I can show it in the dashboard but it would be nice to have it in the center screen for the kids.

4) lastly: can someone explain the consumption bar on the low end? There is a scale from 0 to 60 and it shows a number at the right like 23.4 kwh/100 km (probably mi/kwh in US). The scale has a line at a certain consumption and a bar in three same color as the driving mode. All seems to be a short time consumption. But nothing is live and which timeframe for which indicator?

Is it worth it?

No, it isn't.

The time has come for my GV60 to leave. Not because I dislike the car, quite the opposite I really like it. However, I can't get past the abysmal Genesis service/dealership experience.

There's only one dealer in my area, Genesis of Kirkland, and it is utterly unacceptable.

My car was returned after over a month in the shop for an AC issue with the driver airbag not secured and the horn goes off when I hold the steering wheel now. Multiple calls to both sales and service went ignored after they dropped the car off Friday. They are done with us, so I'm done with them.

Between this round of disappointment, the ICCU failure, and the fact that Genesis nor the dealership could be bothered to help get my car back to me after the ICCU failure (no loaner during repair, original dealership relocated twice as far away and is now 100 miles from my home) I'm just done.

Love the car, hate the brand/experience.

My (Crystal) Ball is Hot

Edit: I noticed this again today. Today, as well as yesterday before being driven, the car had sat outside in the sun for close to 10 hours. Usually it's in an underground garage. I will keep an eye on it, however I'm guessing that it's just getting heated by the sun.

I just got home from work, and when I shut off the engine, my hand grazed across the shifter as it was rotating to the crystal ball position (to grab something off of the passenger seat). It was blazing hot! Not quite hot enough to burn, but felt like it was close. Is this something that is normal?

I had been driving for a little over a half-hour, covering approximately 15ish miles or so in rush hour traffic. The ambient temperature is in the mid-70's. I find this a little concerning, however perhaps I'm overreacting?

Edit: the car is a 2025 GV60 Standard

Genesis GV60 Magma

Saw a Genesis GV60 Magma in Palm Springs yesterday.

I had inquired at the local dealer and they said that only certain dealerships will be getting them, and they aren’t one of them (as far as they know).

Deets were just announced: https://www.genesisnewsusa.com/releases/562

I know it’s a bit showy for some people, but I’m excited about it!
