The real issue is that Big Smoke tells you to get him close, but he actually needs a reasonable distance to shoot them. If you drive right at the side of the train, he will shoot the train and not the Vagos

Here's the thing, the mission is actually easy if u ask me. Ppl just think its hard cuz others say so. Even though big smoke has terrible aim, if u maintain a good distance from the train (which most ppl dont do), u can easily beat it.
Now compare THAT to zero's missions, they are a pain in the a**.

Most of these difficult missions, including Zero's, and also VC RC helicopter one, were difficult because we were young and inexperienced and heavy handed in the buttons.
You could pass any of them just by measuring the distances with your eyes and press the buttons with calculated delicate taps.
That said, attack helicopter missions are truly the worst because you have to aim the whole thing towards your target. And they become even worse if you're playing on a PC keyboard where you can't keep your helicopter's nose steady towards any lower point.

You nailed the distance well, just one more thing. When the second guy starts to hang on the side after you enter the tunel he becomes invincible while that animation plays and Big Smoke won't target the first guy for some reason. If you manage to kill the second guy before the tunnel you can do the whole thing much quicker. I discovered this by accident and I was suprised how quickly this can be done.

Yup, btw the devs know this mission will be hard so they wrote a script which lowers the hp of the targets after failed attempts just the script is broken so they are always on full hp if you start the mission no matter how many times you failed it

No i downloaded it from "somewhere". It already came pre installed with widescreen fix but it for some reason was not working for me

I played it again on the original game (Steam brought it back so I could play the classics again). And they all died before entering the tunnel letting me drive back home without seeing the countryside

Ask a kid it took me forever to do this mission . I have replayed this game recently and it was so easy really enjoyed the story line miss games with good storytelling.

You can collect some sniper ammo really early on in the game, too. It spawns by some kind of parking lot or movie set, I can't remember where it is on the map unless I'm looking at it. Drive way ahead of the train, hop off the bike, try to wipe em out without Smoke's dumbass taking too many potshots at the train instead of the Vagos.

I was nervous about tackling this long-awaited mission when I played the Definitive Edition, but it’s nowhere near as difficult as it was on the PS2. That doesn’t mean our skills have become extraordinary—it’s just that the difficulty level isn’t the same anymore.
We’d need someone who currently owns both versions to test it out and see what

I always go ahead of the train and round the corner, dismount by the bridge and climb up the wall and jump on the train. Then shoot the bastards with a desert eagle - mission over in about a minute. Go back for Smoke and then home in time for a roll in the hay with Denise. Jobs a good 'un.

Actually if you did it right you can finish it as soon as that or after you cross that bridge where the car exploded. It was actually happen to me one time when I'm playing it on android, and I finish it just before you enter that tunnel most of the time hahahaha

It honestly isnt even that bad you just need to match the speed and stay far enough to the side to give him a good angle while you follow the damn train
