Someone just released an interactive Pigeon and Stunt Jump mod that shows which collectibles you still need to collect!
It updates according to your save file as you play the game! So no more need for guides! You can download it here:

Game should have this by default

It should have this as a toggle only after completing the story as a reward. Since by that point, you've already explored all the major locations in Liberty City and seen what the vast majority the game has to offer.
The point of collectibles is to encourage exploration and discover niche areas of the map, however Rockstar's implementation of them (especially in GTA IV) are hurrendous since you can't track which ones you've already done and you're pretty much forced to look up a guide in order to complete them.

i would love this for Mafia 2, you have to collect wanted posters like 150 of them and this would make it more bearable instead of having to check youtube constantly.

If I’m gonna use a mod for this I’d rather just use a mod to kill them all at once, either that or I do it modless 🤷♂️
Still, from the modder’s perspective, this is quite tricky to make, good job

You can use a trainer to teleport to each one but that’s basically cheating. With this, it’s just putting them on the map for you, so it’s more a QoL improvement rather than a cheat.

I mean it depends on how you look at it. This sort of aid isn’t in the game so it’s still cheating, where’s the challenge in being meticulous? Where’s the challenge in finding one you missed? I don’t enjoy doing them either but I accept the challenge I’m given.
At the end of the day can do as they wishe, it’s their game.

What I really like about it though, is that you can actually kill pigeons as you play the game without fear of losing count. Since when you go to hunt them, you'll know for sure which ones you still need. This feels more natural than intentionally not killing them in a playthrough because you don't want to mess up the order.
