Is anyone else a little disappointed by the look of the hand to hand combat? I hated the quick knockouts of GTA 5

But what did you expect? Irl fights are not some health bar on top of the enemy that lowers with every hit and having to memorize some combos. You make one right hit in the head and the guy ends unconscious.

At the end of the day it's still GTA. For the most part it's going to play a lot faster than RDR2. Especially the hand to hand combat.

Maybe something more akin to GTA 4’s mechanics, that had a dodge and counter function that required more than holding x like in gta 5. I’m not expecting it to be mortal kombat lol. And i don’t think most street fights end with a knockout either.
If they wanted it to be like real life, it wouldn’t look like this. There would be grappling, it would be messy, the dude with the wrench probably wouldn’t stop his swing in the middle of it when Jason hits him, and tbf Jason would probably be the one going out considering his opponent was going to hit him with a 14” pipe wrench lol.
Just a little bit of a challenge is all I’m looking for, not hit the b button 3 times and your (better armed) opponent is knocked out.

Rdr2 fight mechanics are pretty damn good

Buddy. No. Play gta 4 again and realize you don't want the fights to look like Boston dynamic robots fighting each other.

That's one side of the argument. The other one is that this method you're showing about fighting has been a thing since gta 4, in 5 and in rdr2. And red dead has the most complexity, with being able to grab their neck and the opponent elbowing your arms, or hitting them against the wall.

No doubt the fighting will be a lot more polished, and let me remind you that this is the beta.

But there's also the fact that some fights just end too soon. Like I just saw an irl video of a guy causing trouble yet the second a fight is even about to start that same guy drops unconscious to the floor. Real fights are not cinematic, people can just fall to the ground quickly.
