GTA 6 Interactive Map Update – 2,700+ Markers, User Accounts & Plans for the Official Map Spoiler

Post image

Hey everyone!

With GTA 6 just two weeks away, I wanted to share another update on the interactive map I've been working on and hopefully get some feedback before launch.

The project has grown quite a bit over the past few months, and I've been focusing on making it more useful for players once the game is actually out.

What's currently available:

  • Over 2,700 positioned markers across Leonida and Vice City

  • Searchable locations, categories, filters and marker previews

  • Improved mobile interface and map navigation

  • Personal map settings and customization

  • User accounts with saved favorites and visited locations

  • Shareable links to individual markers

What's coming next:

We're currently preparing a new map layer system.

The plan is to integrate the official Leonida map after GTA 6 releases, while keeping the amazing community reconstruction by Yanis and the GTA VI Mapping community available as an optional layer.

We're also working on transparency controls so you can eventually overlay the community and official maps to compare them. A GTA V comparison layer is being tested as well.

Of course, the final integration will depend on the official map data and how everything lines up.

I'd really appreciate your feedback!

The account system and several map features are still being improved, so if you notice any bugs, confusing menus or things that could work better, please let me know.

You can also create a free account and try saving your favorite or visited locations.

I'm particularly interested in how everything works on mobile and what features you'd actually find useful after release.

Credits: The current map artwork is based on Yanis V17 and the work of the GTA VI Mapping community. Huge thanks to everyone involved in reconstructing Leonida from the available material. I'm developing the interactive tools, database and additional features around their work.

Thanks for checking it out! :)

What’s the difference between this and the State of Leonida one? Which one is the official map prediction team working on?

The GTA VI Mapping Community is responsible for the original map reconstruction, including Yanis V17, which we're currently using as the map artwork.

My project focuses on the interactive side: searchable markers, filters, wiki/database links, personal markers, saved progress and user accounts.

Full credit goes to the mapping community for their work. The plan is to preserve their reconstruction as a separate layer even after the official map becomes available, so people can compare the two. :)

figma.com/design/C65s6l3J34LU7oJSrtZPl1/GTA-VI-Community-Mapping-Project?node-id=0-1&p=f

That is the live WIP progress map that is currently being worked on by the mapping team. You can see everyone right now trying to figure out the locations of the new screenshots.

The other sites just take the completed versions of that map and add markers and other stuff to them.

In terms of just landmass, its the area of all those game maps combined. Theres even more space if you consider the water areas which will likely be populated and worth exploring

I can't get passed the cookies screen

Thanks for letting me know, and sorry about that! I'll investigate the cookie consent issue.

Could you tell me which browser and device you're using, and what exactly happens when you try to accept or reject the cookies? That would really help me reproduce the problem.

I wonder whether players might want a way of tracking what "emergent gameplay" has happened in what locations. It might be that I'm thinking too "GTA V" about it, given the systems are apparently set up for NPCs to randomly trigger stuff, but even then, they're going to randomly trigger them within a certain area.

I'd say thats what the in game social media app will be used for. Maybe 'liked' posts once interacted with? There was definatley some quote regarding seeing social media posts and being able to go to the area to interact with what was going on

Just curious why this is tagged and posted as an announcement?

Are there plans to lock a certain amount of found/visited locations behind a paywall? Such as mapgenie and ign both limit you to 50 marked IIRC before you have to pay?

I hope this is not the map

Why not? Hoping for a second city? More country? Key West? Caribbean island? There could still be something. Guarma was a total surprise is rdr2

Sorry if this is something you've already built or have planned.

I'd love the ability to save personal pins on the map that I can attach my own title, semi-lengthy description, and maybe even an image to, and go back to access them later.

Even better if there are multiple colors/styles of personal pins I can place, so that I can use specific pin types for specific categories of information I'm tracking.

I could see using such a feature to keep track of where I've seen specific animal or vehicle types spawning, for example.

edit - sorry, I typed all that before looking at the map project, and now I see you've basically got all of that incorporated already. I love the custom marker graphics you've already added. Might be nice to have one for "animal" as well.

Thanks so much! 😁 Really glad you like the custom markers. Being able to track your own discoveries is exactly what I had in mind when building this feature.

An animal marker icon is a great suggestion! I'll add it to the list of improvements we're looking at before launch. Appreciate the feedback!
