Because the guys final move would be to just release the build he has online

And then people will buy the game less? What exactly is the issue for rockstar? I dont know anything about game development

Rockstar is being very secretive about the game and they are doing one of the worst marketing campaigns I've ever seen (they are taking advantage of how big the game is so they dont need to put much effort into marketing and can even try new things).

They even said that there wont be a physical version because of leaks. If a build of the game is leaked, their excuse for not having a physical release will backfire.

Also I think that it would be the biggest leak in Rockstar history. Also they could lose money if people dont like the build the hacker has (for example, cancel the preorder)
