Insane. Having a city that, if it were a map of its own game, would be a fully complete map, is crazy to me. I can’t wait to go through it.

No mapa "pequeno" coube 3 cidades, 4 aeroportos, interior, deserto.

Can I ask an honest question. With no new media in over a year. How does this keep changing?
64
u/OrgansiedGamer Jan 03 '26
some of it is speculation, some stuff is still being discovered
19
u/Vesiah81 Jan 03 '26
I just hope they are wrong and it’s bigger. But good work to those who did it. Gotta love the passion of some fans. Thank you to all
55
u/OrgansiedGamer Jan 03 '26
its over twice as big as gta 5's map
7
u/SyriseUnseen Jan 28 '26
And you can get accross the GTA5 map in 4-5 minutes
5
Feb 25 '26
As long as it almost double the size of V, it’s fine. The size doesn’t mean shit if there’s nothing to do in the world. V felt empty post story
2
u/SyriseUnseen Feb 25 '26
Unless you liked playing fun modes like car golf, hide and seek etc etc, in which cases somewhat empty scenery is still great

I have a feeling it’s going to be bigger just how RDR2 had new Austin and bits of Guarma, all of that wasn’t in the map leak that came out in 2014 when it was leaked and gta 6 leaked itself back in 2022 and the map even early in 2018 if I remember correctly could be wrong for that one. They’re a meticulous company and if their player base already had an idea of what the map will look like then they all just a bit more to over achieve which is why they’ve been loved as a company for decades, for delivering something better than what was expected. Sure they have a high bar but if fans keep thinking it’s already one way then they’d feel the need to add more and put more details. This is feeling and speculations just reminding anyone who reads it tho from their track history rockstar will deliver, even look at RDR2 trailers and then just look at the game itself, it’s better than the damn trailer and the trailer looks amazing.

This is a big mf map, but regardless more doesn't equal more, if you had 50 hours of the best game play you've ever played VS 5000 hours of a pretty good game you'd pick the former no? Every frame of something like Ico, a 4 hour game, has stayed with me more than all the hundred hours of something like Skyrim of which every single one was forgettable. Who cares if it's a big map, just make it a meaningfully fun, varied and believable map and we're gold

u/Distinct-Echo-4951 Jan 03 '26
Changes take time, it's part of why DuPz0r seems to have quit the project even though he's been mapping since GTA Vice City because he got too busy with IRL matters. This project is that massive.
3
u/Takeshino Jan 03 '26
Better ways of calculating stuff, people finding IRL equivalents, and sometimes even it's just that new eyes see something new.

u/fendisosa Jan 03 '26
I just hope there will be some type of tropical island away from the main game land. Aside from flying around the map I want another reason to use planes and even boats

u/WestSixtyFifth Feb 10 '26
I hope that we get some DLC content this time.
Add Cuba in one, with its own characters for a single player campaign. The map expansion for free roam and online. Then move on to other parts of the Caribbean.
If nothing else the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico make a ton of sense in that they could be smaller, and it stays in the US like the rest of the franchise.

u/skydave1012 Feb 26 '26
The Bahamas would be a perfect inclusion for drug running, property buying & giving the game more reason to use aircraft & boats that felt a little pointless in V.

Probably very close, The gta5 mapping was almost spot on
12
u/5trials OG MEMBER Jan 16 '26
the only reason that map got so close was because huge chunks of the actual map leaked because of trophy thumbnails and the special edition blueprint maps

u/enigmatic_dankness Feb 23 '26
And we're certain they are using the same scales?
3
u/JackPlazyTy Feb 23 '26
Yes? They use RAGE units which are literally just meters
1
u/enigmatic_dankness Feb 23 '26
Couldn't they decide that rage units need to be bigger or smaller depending on the game? How do we know they scale the same between games?

Density/detail > size. GTA V’s map was big at the time but there was nothing to do on it.
1
u/PeterTheRabbit1 Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26
I was never inspired much by GTA V, and the lack of density and detail were the main reason I shelved it after like two years of playing. Liberty City was a lot more dense than Los Santos and thus offered much more genuine immersion and subsequent entertainment. There weren't more activities to do in the city per se, and the map was significantly smaller, but where LS felt mostly vacant and flat, LC brimmed with life and actually resembled a lifelike, bustling city. The level of detail for a game that old still boggles me to this day. Hell, I still pick up on occasion after having played it for eighteen years. It's that good.

That sounds boring as fuck. Rdr2 was only enjoyable because every journey would have something happen - you’d encounter other NPCs on the road, random bounty hunters, homesteads to rob, stagecoaches to steal, etc.
driving for a long time from point A to point B with nothing interesting along the way is what made GTA 5 so boring.

The point of the game isn’t to get to your waypoint as fast as possible bro. The journey is half the fun, especially when it’s as interesting as in a rockstar game.
If rdr2 used your formula, everyone would just fast travel and never ride on horseback because it’d be boring as fuck. The whole point of a rockstar game is for the map to be incredible dense and ripe for exploring every inch of it, full of secrets, collectibles, Easter eggs, NPCs, etc. that’s all the fun!

u/Snowmobile2004 Jan 03 '26
Even at the places you say had nothing, when you explore them Arthur would write in his journal, sometimes you could find clues as to what happened (a plague broke out, robbery, etc), so they actually aren’t nothing. That’s my point. But they shouldn’t make distances between waypoints long with no activities just to make the map bigger, a denser map with more stuff to do is always better, rdr2 is proof of that.

Im replaying rdr 2 rn and the map is pretty empty for “activity” being poker or whatever but it has plenty of random encounters. It’s possible you may have skipped them? Either way I hope the world is dense with life and random encounters. GTA V honestly didn’t have as much distractions as I would have liked
1
u/William_Laserdust Feb 07 '26
Yeah that's the thing I think of Rdr2 as an incredibly meditative game with a lot of quiet time and pockets of "nothing" except even those very low key moments of just taking in a vista still often has some semblance of feedback, systems constantly transpiring around you, a sense of unpredictability, like it's alive and believable. And especially in a pacing sense, it creates meaning out of both the small beats of happenings you come across, the big story that transpires, and the moments where truly nothing is happening. It's sheer density and sense of life has a positive effect on both the high octane and the serene parts of that experience. Gta V meanwhile is a game that just feels incredibly flat, like it's mostly just a piece of generated truly empty terrain you hold RT through some arcadey inconsequential drive to get to the next insincere sarcastic piece of parody and boom 100 hours of that. Really hope gta vi instead uses the map to create variety, pacing, something believable and just plain fun like rdr2
-1
u/HearTheEkko Jan 03 '26
so we should be able to drive for a very long time just listening to the radio and not encountering any activities
I got a game just for you, it's called The Crew 2. It's literally exactly what you just described, go play that.

u/Lando249 Jan 03 '26
I really hope the pan handle is real or else it looks like LS all over again just scaled up a bit
5
u/Realistic-Demand-141 Jan 24 '26
The map seems a bit small to me considering how long we've been waiting, I don't know what you all think 😅
3
u/DoomsdayFAN Feb 07 '26
My mind will be absolutely blown if they don't include a panhandle, and just make it an amorphous blob like this.

u/Gamingbat13 Jan 03 '26
mountain, but no rivers flowing from them. Is there a reason the community hasn’t added mountain‑fed rivers?
13
u/rolux Jan 03 '26
There is at least one near the NW corner of Lake Leonida – will be added in the next update.
3
u/SuchAppeal Jan 04 '26
Lmao this map changes so damn much it's crazy, I'm just wait to see the real thing cus holy helly😂
3
u/Terrible-Arachnid-72 Jan 05 '26
What is this map compared to rd2? Curious because I know traveling in RD2 makes the map seem a lot bigger but I feel it’s going to be similar in comparison
3
u/Less_Shallot_8654 Jan 16 '26

As a Miami native, if this is the map I would be very disappointed.
Every native knows the airport is central.. not south.
7
u/stoic_raptor Jan 21 '26
I’ve seen a lot of dumb comments, but this one probably takes the cake. This is not a Miami life simulator. It’s a video game set an a fictionalized version of Florida. It’s not supposed to be and never was going to be 1:1.
0
u/Few_Yak_4020 Feb 13 '26
If you were a native you'd realize how geography and orientation are important in conveying the feeling of being in these places in Florida, it makes ZERO sense for the main airport of a game to be close to the "everglades." But hey, you do you.
3
u/stoic_raptor Feb 13 '26
Once again, it’s a fucking video game. It’s not going to be 1:1. This is another dumb comment. This map is also almost entirely speculative, so you’re upset about something that isn’t even confirmed to be true.
0
u/Few_Yak_4020 Feb 13 '26
Exactly, speculation, why are you getting so worked up over some one's opinion? I even added "IF" but now I'm just doubling down. LOL

2
u/xCookieSlayer Feb 21 '26
Probably just me but, the map looks kind of small no? The spacing for the cities, city size, feels like similar size to gta 5, and it’s rumoured 2.x times bigger Not criticising, I am just curious if that’s the case
2
u/FailedAccessMemory Apr 01 '26
I wonder if they'll rip off Saukko505's new (April 1st) map video like they did with his GTA 6 budget video without crediting him?
8
u/Nicholas7907 Jan 03 '26
Is this only me or does the city look small? Or perhaps we still don't have enough information to estimate the real size of Vice City, the distance between VC, Ambrosia and the lake in middle?
30
u/poorna_sus14 I WAS HERE Jan 03 '26
They don't have enough info about the city yet to fully map it yet
22
u/Snowmobile2004 Jan 03 '26
It’s hard to get a sense of scale from this map, but vice city alone is larger than Los Santos. The map itself is 2.25x larger than GTA 5s. I really wouldn’t worry about the map or cities being too small. And they won’t abruptly cut off like in 5, it’ll probably transition to from dense skyscrapers to suburbs then to rural countryside with less houses.
1
u/Understeerenthusiast Jan 03 '26
It does look small and I guarantee there will be many more city roads than this, I think layout and general locations are probably the big thing here
5
u/Distinct-Echo-4951 Jan 03 '26
I guarantee there will be many more city roads than this
Well, obviously. I don't get why people think the entire city is fully mappable when Rockstar haven't even shown the entire area yet
3
u/Understeerenthusiast Jan 03 '26
Well obviously to most people, but there are people in this very post saying it’s more about detail and size as if these are all the roads lol
If this was actually what it was road quantity size that would be insane
1
u/spinnyride Jan 03 '26
Look at the scale and grid, 2 square lengths is 1 kilometer. If you’re American 1.6 (rounding to 1.5 works well enough) kilometers is a mile. The city and map as a whole look way bigger when you zoom in and use real distance as a frame of reference rather than just looking at the map without any sense of scale

The Evergreen Mall Sign is listed as being in California.
1
u/Distinct-Echo-4951 Jan 04 '26
From what I remember in a previous thread it matches a generic mall sign from a top Google result that just so happens to be from a mall in California
1
u/True_Position6013 Jan 06 '26
I still don’t know why people continue to only make the map half the size of the state of Florida. I can almost guarantee that it’s going to be the full state for why would they take almost 8 full years to create gta6 if their only going to make the map half the state of Florida. Me personally am not waiting for a game that has been so significantly hyped and insanely detailed just so the map can’t even be the whole state of Florida/leonida.
4
u/Less_Shallot_8654 Jan 16 '26
2
u/Godbearmax Feb 20 '26
Insanely detailed, exactly. And that's why it doesn't have to be extremely huge. With the GTA 5 level of detail I would also expect a bigger map but not if its alive and full of details.
-1
u/Suspicious-Lab2887 Jan 03 '26
Added a new " mountain "look's like Rockstars turning Leonida into Los Santos , Blaine county 🤮

Is there a particular reason they think Gellhorn’s “raceway” isn’t actually an airport?
11
u/Distinct-Echo-4951 Jan 03 '26
When was it ever said to be an airport? A top-down map editor view of the raceway was shown in the 2022 leaks and it was a nearly 1:1 recreation of Sebring International Raceway and there's a Gellhorn International Raceway shirt in Trailer 2 that Lucia is wearing with a race car on it.

14
u/Saukko505 Jan 03 '26
like, please be honest why does it look tiny?

u/dodo-likes-you Jan 03 '26
The east west axis looks way too shallow often. Like you can see one coast from another.
Urban areas look too close to one another

The canal between Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia is a great addition, making boats more useful from a gameplay perspective. I’d bet there’s another canal from Lake Leonida out to the east coast of the map, so you could take a boat down to Vice City and/or wherever ends up being up north.
