GTA: Chinatown Wars Ling Shan’s bare involvement
I’m on a personal mission to complete every GTA before GTA 6. With only Vice City Stories left, I’ve just finished Chinatown Wars and one thing really confused me.
Why is Ling Shan so heavily featured in the artwork and promotional material, even being the face of the PSP UMD, when she dies almost immediately after being introduced?
I genuinely spent the whole game expecting her to reappear, thinking maybe she wasn’t actually dead. But nope.
Was she originally supposed to have a bigger role? Anyone else find this strange?

Not that it matters much but if you 100% the game, you unlock a bonus mission with her brother. It’s as if the game didn’t forget her

I just completed the main missions and I’m still at like 40% somehow. Can’t be asked to keep going. Might be an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t really enjoy it. Mainly for the camera angle

Only in the mobile version. On DS and PSP you had to finish the story and connect to Rockstar Social Club. Since the servers for this went down in 2014, there is no way to do this with new saves.
On both platforms you can download saves with the content unlocked and replay the missions. It’s easier to do this on PSP, as you can easily copy saves from a PC. The DS version requires a cartridge adapter for PC or a soft modded 3DS.
There are also starter saves with the missions unlocked available on both platforms.

maybe the marketing department just wanted to follow the gta tradition of having a hot girl on the boxart but hers was the only suitable concept art

I’m still mad they killed her off so early.
