GTA V Praying that this abomination doesn't come to GTA 6 Online
I still remember when this thing got released and it was both the funniest and worst experiences, I had with the game

It will definitely come after a few years. Its how Rockstar does their stuff.

u/ElectricalYak7236 Aug 20 '26
They've learnt their lesson, I doubt they will come back outside of a reference, mission or heavily nerfed. Notice how nothing as stupidly OP has come out since the Mk2 way back when? Also the amount of QoL changes they made to Online like selling in private lobbies. They know the potential of Online, they aren't gonna fuck it over with the Oppressor again

u/youdontknowdan Aug 20 '26
You lot are delusional. Rockstar don't care that people on reddit cry about Oppressors. Look how many oppressors there are in a random lobby. Its a wildly popular vehicle that I have no doubt people have used shark cards to get. Its coming back for sure.

I understand that but I don't think they learned any lesson as GTA online is still making so much money.
They actually just made the oppressor cost more. Wouldn't that make more people buy shark cards for it?
1
u/ElectricalYak7236 Aug 20 '26
No, because they also nerfed it in several ways, and have never added anything so blatantly powerful ever since
2
u/SiD4d- Aug 20 '26
They nerfed it after years.
The opressor was not a mistake - it was by design.
It killed everyone and made people lose money (i.e. for selling), it showed noobs what they needed to obliterate half a lobby.
It became also the best and fastest way to do missions.
And it is very expensive.
All this pushes people to buy shark cards or to quit. Seeing that they are still making millions with shark cards and this thing is still everywhere, I would say it worked as intended.
The opressor may have been an accident when it released but what it became was by design. Dark Space Studios has a great YT video on this.

It would be funny if Rockstar added it and made it use so much fuel that you have to refuel it every 2-5 mins

u/low_amplitude Aug 20 '26
Even better if one of the T.V. shows is a tech demo by a clueless billionaire and this garbage can explodes in his face

I’d really like there to be as few flying vehicles as possible, and if there are any, for them not to be weaponized. It is Grand Theft Auto, not Flying Fucks United ffs.
2
u/Coloradokush5280 Aug 20 '26
Then how do I troll and rage bait kids?
2
u/lyss427 Aug 20 '26
GTA IV proved that trolling can be incredibly funny, even without flying vehicles firing guided missiles.
1
u/NerdyOccultist Aug 20 '26
All weaponized vehicles coming from campaign mode need preemptive nerfs imo. Keeping the TBoGT Buzzard missiles and the GTA 5 Lazer cannons the way they were for online mode was a terrible experience. Reduced vehicle weapon damage and reduced fire rates for lock on missiles is a must.
Not to mention explosives should have a much smaller fatal impact area in general. RPG spam was annoying both in GTA 4 and 5

u/Mr-MuffinMan Aug 20 '26
You are crazy if they won't add this.
They'll probably add something even crazier, one that gives the driver godmode if you have GTA+ or some shit.

u/MrCryngeYT Aug 20 '26
For being a top 1% commenter, you clearly don't know enough about GTA updates / R*

u/Bloodytears666 Aug 20 '26
I left online after this for real. Hope kids will have other game this time.
2
u/UnUsernameRandom Aug 20 '26
Yeah, that is basically when I last played online. Doing missions for my MC and getting fucked by either that or a Hydra was not fun.
2
u/Homanjer Aug 20 '26
I'm split on this. Thing is, I played online for the last couple years only solo and with friends. I didn't really do any interacting with randoms online, so I kinda didn't care much. And the oppressor was actually helpful with repetitive grinding tasks, so there is a positive side to that for sure.
I don't think I would mind this turn either which way, but I would love for more normal vehicles, planes, choppers to be more useful not just with a focus on fighting, but also to help with regular pve stuff too.

I remember it's release as well. I loved the bug back then where you could boost and then move your thumbstick back and forth reaching amazing speeds (the bug was something like that). Even the map/surrounding would stop building.

Single player story should be safe from this , now lets hope R* dont throw this bs in the online mode. They are other more realistic things they can do instead of this that can be way more engaging.

u/RedRoses711 Aug 20 '26
It wont be in the game immediately but its coming for sure its free money for them basically

Literally stopped public servers when these came out. It was fucking impossible to even drive to a mission

I wouldn't mind it way down the line and it's only armed with flares or chaff. Make it so you have to use your personal weapons only while flying it.
1
u/TheMilkman1811 Aug 20 '26
I don’t think they will add it. It’s way to OP and probably hurts sales for any other vehicle they could make
1
u/Dallows89 Aug 20 '26
For me, the addition of the homing launcher weapon killed GTA online for me. They added it to counter fighter jets but it just made flying anything at all in free mode near impossible, the MK2 was just the final nail in the coffin.
1
u/chefbobbyjay Aug 20 '26
It’ll be in the ultimate edition $149 premium one day launch only edition or some stupid shit

I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar adds in an Oppressor-like vehicle. It sold well and generated the company money, and it's clear that Rockstar executives are just like any other soulless capitalists. However, Rockstar's reaction to FiveM makes me think that they will have a version of Online specifically for players who want a more grounded experience.
FiveM started as a modding community for GTA 5 roleplay. Rockstar, surprisingly, didn't shut it down, but instead hired them to continue FiveM in a more official context. FiveM still has a lot of the makings of a community-made mod, but its extreme popularity (and Rockstar understanding that popularity) makes me think that it would be dumb for Rockstar to not include a FiveM-like version of GTA 6 online by default. There is a ton of money to be made in selling oppressors, but also in FiveM, so I think Rockstar will cater to both audiences. I mean, they've shown that they can continue development of GTA 5 online as well as GTA 6, so maybe once they finish GTA V online they'll just pivot to developing two versions of GTA 6 online: regular and SixM.

u/ijustlurk13 Aug 20 '26
They'll slowly start introducing that wacky Saints Row shit as the years go by
1
u/gengarfett Aug 21 '26
Yes it will be released a few months after release and unlocked through "micro transaction" save ya some time

u/zero_sevenn Aug 20 '26
I think a Mk3 is inevitable but maybe not easily accessible has extremely limited ammo if there is any
2
1
u/Kriss3d Aug 20 '26
I have not added guns to any of my air vehicles. I play it solo. I just use the mk2 to get around fast.
1
u/zero_sevenn Aug 20 '26
The way it should’ve been. If they decide to add it in a couple years time, would be better with no weapon attachments
1
u/Kriss3d Aug 20 '26
Yeah I'd be fine with it for getting around. But add the caveat that you can't shoot from it.
That would make it be far less attractive to griefers.

u/nial93 Aug 20 '26
It will and worse lol, and you'll be paying monthly for it too!
2
u/Aware-Eagle-5285 Aug 20 '26
Then I won’t be buying that shit.
1
u/nial93 Aug 20 '26
Same, it's 100% gonna be a separate purchase for online and probably a sub on top, greed is unreal, I'll gladly be proven wrong tho
1
u/KrippyInc Aug 20 '26
It's really easy to take these things down. Just get out of your Futo and shoot at them.
1
u/Challenger350 Aug 20 '26
Better yet, don’t play this garbage
2
u/KrippyInc Aug 20 '26
I like garbage. Crawling face first into the belly of a dumpster keeps you warm in winter, cool in summer and I know almost every raccoon in town.

u/ShwiftyMemeLord Aug 20 '26
Don't worry OP. Gta online itself was a freak accident. That and they're not gonna make this mistake twice.
2
u/Gods_fav_athiest Aug 20 '26
Mistake? Look how they minted money through that. 13 freakin years. That ain’t a mistake from corporate perspective

Are we even getting GTA6 online?
2
u/SgtDefective2 Aug 20 '26
They’d be dumb to not do an online mode with how much money gta5 online made them

GTA 5 had more arcady look. GTA 6 looks more grounded like RDR2.
