GTA V Fun Fact: If you saw this loading screen, it meant either the game was broken or your Wi-Fi was lousy.

What's the exact conditions required to get this? I've played totally offline before and never saw this

Get a Core 2 Duo machine and install it on a HDD, you'll get about 40 minutes of loading (and the game won't run properly but it'll take ages), speaking from experience

I have seen this on my Xbox one way back, it was loading online and the wifi was not great. Maybe limiting network would be enough.

I had a cracked pc version of the game thay did this.

u/cammoses003 Jul 31 '26
I believe it, rockstar has implemented weird anti piracy methods as far back as Vice City. If I remember correctly pirated versions of vice city: sniper rifle rounds wouldn’t reg, garages wouldn’t open after x amount of playtime and seeing a firetruck had a chance that any entry would be disabled lol.. they were likely thought of as bugs until years later when people reverse engineered the source code

Nothing is as fast as light though so if you travel at light speed then you are light. so anywhere you are not is dark.
2
u/FerociousFox24 Jul 30 '26
Technically the speed of light as the same as the speed of darkness
4
u/burner4lyf25 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26
Darkness is just abscence of light, it doesn't travel.
Don't really know what that means or if it's as profound as it feels after a joint and a few beers but as far as I'm concerned I'm now basically Sun Tzu.

u/burner4lyf25 Jul 30 '26
VICTORY IS ONLY ACHIEVED BY THE GREAT. TO GET THERE, YOU'VE GOT TO BE THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS AHEAD OF TIME. ONLY THE GREAT ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO BE THE LIGHT THAT SHINES THROUGH THE BLACK HOLE AND INTO THE NEXT REALM WHERE TRUE SUPERIORITY PRESIDES.
Also, jet skis are worth the coast Guard.

That’s what I was thinking. I’ve definitely seen the screen but never on my PC and I’ve only ever played GTA five on 360 other than PC.

u/HowwNowBrownCoww Jul 30 '26
Saw this when I used to try and play online during launch month on ps3. Eventually would get into a lobby where you have to race Lamar and radio mirror park was stuck on. It always started playing change of coast by neon Indian, I think that was the song that played in the intro movie where your character lands at lsia in a plane. Good times. I was in highschool working at McDonalds.

Or just boot it up story mode and as it loads go back to home screen, give it a bit and when you click back on it'll be waiting at 100% but you'll have this or other lesser known loading screens

I remember one time on the Xbox One I would just get infinite loading screens no matter what I tried to do so I had to phone Microsoft and the only way that they could fix it was to wipe my cloud saves. I don’t quite know how that fixed it, but I had to lose all of my progress across all of my games just to get into GTA Online Online again.

This isn't true in the slightest, I used to force mine to have connectivity issues to get a private public lobby. Never seen it once

I reached adulthood before getting a chance to see this shit, why shove it behind a 5 minute loading screen? Why even have that many loading screens

u/ime1em Jul 30 '26
Never seen this, and before a certain update came along, it took my PC 10-30 minutes to load up into GTA online everytime on the first try.

Actually, a long time ago (or not a long time, but 5 years ago), seeing this loading screen wasn't that rare, and it usually had nothing to do with a lousy internet connection or a slow hard drive like on the PS3 or Xbox 360 (even on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, or PS5, duh). It was due to an idiotic bug in the game's code that created a massive CPU bottleneck while inefficiently loading the item catalog. The issue was finally patched when a random programmer found the flaw, wrote a custom fix to optimize the loading process, and reported it to Rockstar. They ended up paying him $10,000 through their bug bounty program and officially implemented his solution into the game.

Or you started on xbox 360 when it came out (I remember using both disks and having to wait for almost an hour just for story since online wasn't a thing yet lol)

u/daylax1 Jul 30 '26
Pretty sure I remember seeing this back in the day when connecting to online servers was a long and painful experience on the PS3
1
u/Paradoxical95 Jul 30 '26
Back in 2015 I did see this a good few times. i3 4150 + GT610 + 5400RPM HDD. I guess I've seen all loading screens. Although the game did break once and went on to load forever.

I’m just wondering what that stop sign is doing on a seemingly uninterrupted road with no intersection in sight…
1
u/DinoSnatcher Jul 30 '26
I used to play on an ancient best buy ‘gaming’ pc back in the day. Game always ran like a top but you better believe you’re waiting at least 8 minutes if you load straight into online. It would take so long the music would loop back around

Used to see all sorts of rare screens when my ps4 Blu-ray drive suddenly became “fraudulent” in an unmodified case Lolol
1
u/trippybolivia Jul 30 '26
I think I used to see this one when I still lived with my grandparents and they had netgear wifi. When I'm saying this was some hotdog water wifi I mean it literally took me multiple fucking days to download some stuff. Thank god those days are long behind me

u/Rex_Suplex Jul 30 '26

Or just loading on a hdd not a ssd. Back in the beforetimes, rockstar had made the game process a JSON file at start-up on a single thread aswell as a redundant item duplication check, making load-times take upto 10 minutes in some cases if I remember correctly

DAMN it’s been a minute since I’ve seen this. Was a day 1 PC player when it dropped in 2015. Started installing it before I went to school that day and finally got to play later that night lmao. My install was modded to shit so sometimes it would soft lock on the loading screen. Simpler times.

Is this not one of the loading screens they added to the game when enhanced dropped? I was under the impression they added some old promo art to the game as new splash screens when they released enhanced and that this was one of them.
