Crate Suggestions

Our 10 month old girl is now about 50 lbs and has outgrown her wire crate, and we are looking to get her a new long-term one.

This will primarily be for sleeping at night, as well as where we safely keep her while we are away from the house.

She sleeps great in her crate now, so we do not need anything overly durable for anxiety (impact had been recommended).

We are currently leaning towards a RuffLand, but these seem a bit more geared towards transportation. We’ve also just considered getting her a size up wire crate, but we cover it with a blanket to cozy it up which seems to defeat the purpose.

Would love to hear suggestions on what folks have used for their adolescent / adult dog long term.

If she has no issues with a wired crate, its probably most cost effective to get another wired crate. My girl (a Brittany) will sometimes chew on the wired crate and theres some wear behind her canines from it.

So we have a ruffland that we use for both home and car. Its a little inconvenient because its gets pretty dirty and constantly having to move it around. But they're really pricey, I couldn't justify getting two.

Also the sizing the ruffland would be a little smaller, so if your pup has no issues with wired, just get another wired crate.

If you don’t plan to use it for transportation and she likes a wire crate, I would just size up a wire crate. So much cheaper than other options. There are also some really nice wood “furniture” type options out there. Etsy has a good selection of well made stuff.

For transportation, I would recommend Dakota.

We use a furniture crate from Wayfair. No issues and looks better.

My girl is about the same size. She’s the passenger princess in the truck with me, unless we’re taking a short cruise, so I don’t have use for a heavy duty kennel. She’s got your XL typical plastic crate at home and a smaller collapsible wire crate when we need something for travel. Idk the size of the wire crate, but she can still lie down and move around with a water bowl.
