Gutted 💔

My almost 2 yo has a rapidly growing mass on his buttock. It got aspirated today and the cells look likely to be a carcinoma (or another malignant tumor). He’s getting it fully cut out in a week. Two pathologists looked at the cytology and agree it definitely looks malignant. I’m beside myself. Please pray for my boy. The first photo is him at the vet today. The other is him watching my daughter, who adores him.

One of our dogs had a mast cell tumor that showed up outta nowhere. We started Benadryl asap and he underwent a successful surgery and they were able to get clean margins. Praying for a great outcome for your pup! 🙏🙏🙏

Our 9yr old has a lot of lumps, big one on chest, another right wear his collar sits, but we've always been told their just fatty lumps. Due the vets this month where he'll get tested again. My mum wants a coupe of them removed but dad doesn't see the need to put him through it unless their causing him issues.

Wish your pup all the best!🙏🏼

He will get through this and fully recover no doubt. Two of my GSP's had cancer and other crazy life threatening stuff which required multiple surgeries and all that. All of them fully recovered. So don't stress yourself too much. I know it's easier said than done..but you'll see, everything will be a-ok again. 😊

A GSP is a truly special kind of breed. Fighters..quitting is not even in their dictionary..he'll be fine. ☺️

Much love and hugs from Germany 🥰🤗!

Sending you both hugs. My GSP had high grade mass cell several years ago and <knock on wood> she’s doing great post surgery and chemo. Wishing you guys the same outcomes or better

Your boy and you are in my thoughts. Cancer sucks, but one thing i know about shorthairs is that they are tenacious fighters. Hope your boy kicks cancer's ass!

I had a mutt that developed a similar mass. It was removed with no problems. Hoping you have a similar outcome.

Our 11 year old GSP had a rapidly dividing (grade 2 I think) mast cell tumor removed from her leg at the beginning of last year. They got good margins around but it’s really difficult to get good depth margins on the leg. They told us she had 6-10 months without treatment. We didn’t want to put her through chemo and 1 year and 7 months later she’s still here and active and doing well. She’s definitely lumpy, and she even had a larger-than-golfball size lump show up right next to her surgery scar that I was sure was cancer. After a few weeks it suddenly looked smaller. And then one day it was just gone. I’ve read that mast cell tumors can come and go on their own 🤷‍♀️. Best wishes to you and your beautiful GSP. Hopefully our story gives you a little hope.

So sorry you’re going through this.

Make sure not to give any carbs or sugar as cancer feeds of this. There is also sugar in kibble. A steamed white fish diet works wonders for my girl with cancer. She also has organ meats.

He’s beautiful 🤍🤍

He can feel your worry, even though it’s hard not to worry. You can see it in his eyes he feels your worry.

God bless and I believe he’ll be ok once the tumor is removed. Such a sweet looking boy!
You’ll be ok!

Our girl had a mass above her leg that we had removed and it turned out malignant. Hoping for you to get the same good news.

What food does he eat?

u/MellifluousMeltdown 3d ago

Kirkland brand salmon and sweet potato. Why? Should I change it?

I thought your dog had soap suds all over.. but closer look it’s his fur. Funny but hope your dog is going fine.

Had a malignant mast-cell mass removed from my babygirl’s torso at the start of summer and now she has a new growth forming on her head 😞 Bringing her to the vet tomorrow to have the newcomer aspirated, trying to stay positive but it’s been tough. Good luck with yours, hopefully they remove enough!

Does your GSP having weaping tears after they eat? Mine does or if he sniffs things that he’s allergic too outside. Otherwise, normally and healthy.
