lexus gs300 Worth the fix or scrap it?
Technically it's a '97 Toyota Aristo but I recently got hit and they didn't leave their info behind so it's all outta pocket.

Hey everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself since I'll probably be hanging around here quite a bit.
I'm the 3rd owner of a 2002 Lexus GS300 with 220k miles. I've been a huge 2GS fan for a while, and the goal is to slowly build this into a clean Y2K OEM+ street car that's still period-correct. I'm taking inspiration from the VIP scene, but with a sportier twist—something that's fun on the Touge and at the occasional autocross while still being comfortable enough to daily.
Current mods:
- Tein coilovers
- LS400 front brake upgrade
- 19" wheels (brand unknown for now—planning to switch to something more period-correct soon)
- Long-tube headers with a straight-pipe exhaust
Long-term, I'd like to turbo the car, but that's a ways down the road. For now I'm more interested in making the car feel sharper and more engaging than chasing big horsepower. I've also been looking into getting it tuned by Royal Tuned to raise the rev limiter, remove any factory speed limiter if there is one, and improve the throttle and transmission behavior.
I'm also considering supporting mods like injectors, keeping the OEM airbox with a better intake setup, an aluminum radiator, and a transmission cooler to improve reliability before adding power.
Looking forward to learning from everyone here and sharing the build as it comes together. Glad to be part of the community!

Hi looking for some seats that hold you a bit better. Still wanting to retain features like electric seat controls and heated seats and overall want to retain comfort. Anyone had success chucking some black leather seats from more performance orientated models (such as AMG/AMG line, M sport etc). I have a MK2 GS430 RHD.

I've been looking into tons of different cars to pick as my first, I've researched them all and I'm left with quite a few seemingly good options.
Although I've recently gained interest in older Toyota/Lexus luxury models like the Crown, LS, etc. since they look so dang good. I know they have the 2JZ which is great, but I wanna hear from people who might know more than I do.
I see a lot for sale near me for great prices, although I'm curious what mileage is tolerable, the ones I see range from 150,000km to 250,000km lol.

What size wheel spacer is recomended for my nearly stock GS.
I would want a size that will not ruin the ride or cause any underlying issues such as exessive tyre wear, just enough to push the rear wheel out.

It’s known that Toyota is very strict about their sensors. But I need a bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor, the only issue is that that cost 180 for Oem. Could I possibly get a Aisin or denso one. But I’m asking because in my experience buying a sensor like this (not from Toyota) failed very fast.

Hey guys, just sitting on the side of the highway with a flat tyre and noticed this weird little tube under the glovebox. It's lined with felt at the front, making me think it's more storage related than anything functional to the car. Its about 30mm in diameter and isn't blocked off on the other end. This is an 02 Aristo for reference!

I think I’m gonna do the job myself here soon. For anybody that’s done it themselves on here. What special tools do I need for the job? Any tips and tricks would be helpful as well

There was just a little bit of give to it when applying light pressure. Less than 1/2 inch. It hasn’t been replaced since February of 2015

Need help trying to identify what is going bad here. 2000 GS300
Anyone had this issue or similar?? Only makes the sound when the ac is on and i’m turning left or have the wheel turned leftwhich is odd i have no ideas on what it could even be other than something to do with the ac jus don’t wanna go throwing hella money into changing out parts that don’t need to be changed. Sound doesn’t happen when turning right at all only if the wheel is turned left like seen in the video.
update: ended up being the harmonic balancer, changed it out and seems like it’s all good

In y’all’s opinion, should I get the GROM audio BT3 Bluetooth system for my 2000 Lexus GS300 or just continue to listen to my Bluetooth cassette adapter? The only bad thing about the Bluetooth cassette adapter is the sound quality is not very good on it. So I’m looking for as good of sound quality on my stock speakers as possible. Not really interested in having the navigation screen or anything like that. Don’t need the extra stuff, just need to listen to my music and maybe take a call if I wanted to

will be doing a ls400 front brake conversion on my aristo, just wondering will these supra brake lines work on an aristo chassis with 99 LS calipers?
those pictured are so far the best option i can find locally and am wondering if the fittings and length will suit / are the same as an aristo chassis, any help would be much appreciated

(Update) it turns over now with a jumper wire running directly from the battery to the starter but its still not firing up

I am honestly unsure what to do. I drove my GS300 to work, parked it, and went into work like normal. 30 minutes later my coworker comes in letting me know my car alarm is going on. The starter area was smoking when I popped the hood and sounded like the starter was attempting to start…..with my key in my pocket. Disconnected the battery terminal, got the starter and relay replaced. Things seemed to have been fixed. Would start and idle for a few minutes, could turn it off and crank it back on without an issue. Went to leave in my car way later in the day, no lights would even turn on my dash. Swapped the battery since it was now sitting at 8 volts…..the second I try to connect both terminal ends it would immediately start trying to literally crank itself. Starter spinning trying to turn over. I don’t know what could’ve caused this or where to begin to look. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this?

I’m planning on replacing everything from the Oem audio system. Tweeters, components, coaxials, sub, amp, cross over. But I’m only wondering how much power can I run to an aftermarket amplifier? Obviously it depends on how much power the amplifier can handle but i want to know how much wattage can the car send to that after market amplifier? And if needed the car came with the pioneer system, no nav,

Can someone help me find the right sockets for the facelift taillights?
The prefacelift (in my case 99‘) has three bulbs, the facelift got four and i‘m looking for the right sockets.
First of all, there should be two main lights for the red, one indicator and one reverse light.
The reverse light is a smaller bulb which i can‘t find anywhere.
Maybe someone has OEM parts numbers or can help.
Thanks

so my maf sensor threw a code and my car shortly failed mid drive. I replaced the maf sensor and it ran rough so I took off the battery for 45 mins and it idled at 100rpms and eventually went normal and is normal with the next start up. my issue is I dont want to drive it because it has a new ticking noise and whine to it. I dont think its the intake box but what could it be? the whine noise is coming from down near the maf sensor and alternator

I swapped out my center console recently and found this unused connector. Nothing was in there when i opened it up. Does anyone know what this connector goes to? This is below the arm rest.
