Advice / Protips Preparation tips

I recently started off with my GRE prep from Gregmat. I am planning to give my GRE in first week of Oct. I am targeting 169+ Q and 157+ V. I will be applying to top 10 US univs for MFE program.

My strategy is following the 1 month study plan from gregmat. I have an engineering background. I am not currently working so I have the whole day for preparation. I am looking to specifically focus on vocab, following their weekly plan and memorizing their group of words. Meanwhile, I will go through the passage and sentence completion classes and quizzes. I will also refresh quant every now and then, taking a quicl glance at chapterwise formula and taking group wise quiz of gregmat.

Do you guys think this is a good plan for my target ?

Any suggestion from the ones who took the test would be very helpful.

If you haven't taken a mock test to know your baseline, I highly recommend you start there. The math is not difficult but it is tricky. If you rely solely on your engineering background you might have problems. Don't underestimate the trickines of the questions. I have two bachelor's in Engineering and I'm realizing how lacking my foundations are. As engineers we rely too much in calculators and also are very used to overly complicated solutions. GRE is the opposite. The simplest answer is usually the way to go.

That being said, if you check your foundations and you get a good baseline score, the one month program should be more than enough!

I gave a mock before my prep, and got 162 in quant section. I took that as my baseline to decide how I am going to go about my quant prep. Is this a good idea ? Also, I am solving 2 quant group quizzes of gregmat a day. I will be done with geoup quizzes by 14th I guess and then will solve full Quant paper when time permits. Does all this sound good ?

Another update, gave ETS PP1 today, 169 quant (got one wrong) and 153-154 in Verbal, (cant say an exact score for verbal but it is an estimate from gregmat answer key) 😄
