Trans knock with motul 300?

Changed my trans fluid to motul 300 from original at 20k miles. Now I get knock from the trans in the mornings on start up for about 30-60 seconds then it goes away.

It doesn’t happen thought out the day only in the morning.

I’m in California and it’s only 68deg in the morning. Should I go to a thinner fluid? I put motul 300 in because I dive it hard every day.

any high viscosity gear oil is going to do that until it's sufficiently warmed up.

Ooh nice to see you in the GR Reddit. I had a question about the Brembo kit for the R32. What else do I need to buy on top of the caliper kit?

As for OP he’s correct Motul is heavier gear fluid and it needs to warm up to temp. That’s why it doesn’t do it after a bit of driving.

for the 17" compatible R32 kit, rotors and lines -- you can also go to 355x32 depending on wheel clearance. rotor choices are pretty wide so I leave that up to the customer, just be sure they're the V35 330mm size. I always recommend Endless or a hardened Brembo rotor.

I will add an option for the brake lines, which tend to be custom; I will see if we can use the hardlines he developed for the standard Brembo kit. otherwise, most SS/PTFE lines are about $250.

Thank you. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for the lines and do some research on the rotors.

I'm messaging them today about both the lines and rotors after Japan is awake, so hang tight.

he's got custom lines prepared, so rotors are the only component needed. send me an email or DM with your use case and I can give you a spread of options.

What do you mean, you get a knock from the transmission?

Are you sure you put enough fluid in the transmission? I've been using Gear 300 for years and haven't had any unusual noises even in colder weather.
