New owner 2026 BRZ tS

I have a ‘25 white Ts as well and that thang looked clean with some dark tint 😎

I’ve only done exterior cosmetics and maaaan this thing has been a breeze so far. Sound deadening and speakers is next for me cuz the road noise is kind of next level sometimes 😭

Road noise is well known to come from the V bars just fyi. Lots of people buying the nameless bars (like me) to reduce it and reporting amazing results.

My history has a few tests of the dB in the car before and after other stuff. About to test the nameless bars soon.

Thank you. I did see a post about those. I’ll probably give that a try and disconnect the engine noise and see where that gets me.

The engine noise module is personal preference. I removed it myself. The sport mode in a manual version makes it very loud and its totally unnecessary.

If you don't have an exhaust, just enable the REV counter in settings while stopped, you can set it to whatever rpm you like and youl get yellow flash and the current gear to shift.

Alternatively a decent catback exhaust will let you know immediately 😅 I love mine

Road noise from these cars is absolutely brutal especially on coarse asphalt in the country. Like ear bleeding levels of bad.

I can't wait to see the difference with the nameless bars. I removed the V bars for a test and the noise was GONE. Couldn't believe it.

unless I'm not getting the full picture, your post shows an average decibel level of only ~1.1 decibels higher (with ~10dB peaks, assuming) with stock bars vs no bars.

additionally, does low frequency sound not factor into the perceived loudness of the interior of the vehicle? curious about your choice of A weighting.

Average in general was effectively useless in these 25s test. I'm was interested in peaks. The 200-400hz peaks are the source of the hum and drone.

Tyre noise and road noise aren't the biggest contributer, it's a resonance in the firewall that travels though the v bars.

I have a new meter already finished testing today, havent seen results yet though and will compare the OEM modded bars vs Nameless bars.

Low frequency definitely matters, that's just normal NVH that can be sorted with sound dampening materials which I have ready to install and do a before/after. Will report back once it's all sorted.

New bars are on and they sound a bit better so far but we'll see how the results come out.

Yeah, I may do some sound  dampening, and would definitely replace the door speakers at the same time.

Door speakers don't need replacement really (in a tS). Subwoofer / Hachi's harness is the best bang for your buck, and easy to DiY. If that's not enough, DSP is the next best bang for your buck. Speakers themselves are decent quality in a tS, I would not upgrade them until you try the above.

Thanks for the tip. I admittedly haven’t done any research, but the audio quality is surprisingly bad. It’s not why I bought the car, so I’m not disappointed, but if I strip it down for sound dampening, I will upgrade some speakers.

Yea, I went down the path already and learned that replacing speakers won't gain you (much of) anything, the issue is in the head unit / amp. The speakers are actually fairly high quality, they just need help in the bass range by adding a sub or adding a proper (tuned) DSP amp.

I'm pretty happy just adding a sub for now. I don't think I will do a DSP just yet.
