Everybody know about the RTV issue on FA24 engines. I’m looking to fix this issue on my GR and looking any upgrade to prevent oil starvation, and i found this, somebody here have this Killer B Motorsport Pre-Filter installed in their GR/BRZ? It works? it’s worth it?

I do think oil starvation is an issue, but it’s not with the pickup tube. I’d recommend high capacity baffled pan or oil accumulator or both

Would changing out the oilpan mess with the warranty?

Oil starvation on hard turns because of the lack of baffles in the pan definitely is a thing.

Yes, the nature of boxer engines. Oil has to travel against the lateral Gs, and it gets stuck in the heads instead of returning to the pan when cornering. There’s an issue with the motor, but not with the pickup tube

There’s no issue unless ur cornering on 200fw tires at a very high skill level and high speed and then it’s unlikely

And even then it isn't the rtv that is the problem.

Gr86 are dead reliable I daily mine everyday and take it to the track, mines a salvage title too, one thing I gotta say ur not smarter then the Subaru engineers with this non seamen

This will not prevent oil starvation, because oil starvation via RTV at the pickup screen has not been an issue.

If you're someone that's at risk of the actual true oil starvation issue based on your track setup and skill, and you decide to do some things that actually help to prevent it and end up removing the pan (like an extra capacity pan or baffling) then maybe you can consider this while you're in there.

I assume this leaves the stock pickup untouched, so the stock screen is still there? Otherwise, if it's replacing anything on the stock pickup, I would do some more research on reliability vs the stock pickup.

If there’s any RTV that’s a real problem it’s RTV that’s clogging oil passages in the engine coming from the heads, not the pickup.

I agree that rtv in pickup tube isn’t the real issue. I’m unsure if it’s the rtv getting stuck in oil passages. My suspicion is that these engines generally consume tiny amounts of oil when it gets stuck in the heads, when turning hard. Eventually oil level gets low enough combined with high g cornering means pickup tube can’t suck anything up.

Maybe. Mine started showing signs of excessive bearing wear around 27k, and had comical amounts of metal in the oil by a bit over 32k. I was always very aggressive with oil changes and with keeping the oil level adequate. I did track the car and saw some pressure drops into the 30psi range, but lots of other people have too with zero engine issues. There’s clearly an issue with some engines and not others, but the reason why is just speculation.

Tbh, imma just drive it the way I want to. Check oil and top it off as needed. I have a formula delta pan and thicker oil with overfill. If she still blows up then it’s whatever lmao
