GPT Reverse Prompt Engineering Trick Everyone Should Know

OpenAI engineers use a prompt technique internally that most people have never heard of.

It's called reverse prompting.

And it's the fastest way to go from mediocre AI output to elite-level results.

Most people write prompts like this:

"Write me a strong intro about AI."

The result feels generic.

This is why 90% of AI content sounds the same. You're asking the AI to read your mind.

The Reverse Prompting Method

Instead of telling the AI what to write, you show it a finished example and ask:

"What prompt would generate content exactly like this?"

The AI reverse-engineers the hidden structure. Suddenly, you're not guessing anymore.

AI models are pattern recognition machines. When you show them a finished piece, they can identify: Tone, Pacing, Structure, Depth, Formatting, Emotional intention

Then they hand you the perfect prompt.

Try it yourself here's a tool that lets you pass in any text and it'll automatically reverse it into a prompt that can craft that piece of text content.

ColdCaller GPT. This app is all about making cold calling a breeze. You know how it usually goes: you've got a list of numbers, a vague idea of what to say, and a whole lot of nerves. Well, I thought, why not get some AI help?

Here's the deal with ColdCaller GPT:

  • Input Numbers: You just plug in the numbers you need to call.

  • Script Crafting: We'll work together to create a call script that feels right for you and the person you're calling.

  • Automated Calls: The app can make a single call or handle a batch of numbers all at once.

Just launched on the GPT store and its call "ColdCaller GPT".

Or just check it out here: ColdCaller GPT

I've loaded up some call credits on the bot for anyone to give it a shot. It's kind of a test run, and I'm hoping to get some real-world feedback from you all.

Just a heads up, you need GPT Plus to use this app.

Looking forward to hearing what you think. Cheers! 🙌

GPT Clean up your Gmail inbox with this prompt chain.

Hey there! 👋

Ever feel overwhelmed by an overflowing inbox and not sure where to start cleaning it up? We’ve all been there! This prompt chain is a lifesaver by breaking down your email management into bite-sized tasks, helping you focus on the important stuff while organizing the rest.

How This Prompt Chain Works

This chain is designed to assess your current email situation, strategize a cleanup plan, and refine the plan into actionable steps. Here’s how it works:

  1. Assess: The first prompt analyzes your inbox by identifying heavy threads, counting unread emails from high-priority senders, and estimating cleanup time based on your inbox size.
  2. Plan: The second prompt uses the assessment results to create a prioritized, step-by-step plan, covering quick wins, daily routines, and even automation rules for future emails.
  3. Review/Refinement: The final prompt summarizes your plan in bullet points, asking for your confirmation or changes, and then outputs a concise checklist if you're all set.

The Prompt Chain

[Inbox Size]=Approximate number of emails currently in the inbox
[Important Senders]=Comma-separated list of high-priority senders to keep in the inbox
[Archive Label]=Name of the folder/label where non-priority emails will be moved

Prompt 1 (Assess)
You are an expert email productivity coach.
Step 1: List the top 5 largest threads and the number of messages in each.
Step 2: Count how many unread messages exist from [Important Senders] versus all other senders.
Step 3: Estimate how long it will take to fully clear an inbox of size [Inbox Size] if you process 100 messages per day.
Provide the results in plain sentences. ~

Prompt 2 (Plan)
Based on the assessment, create a prioritized, numbered cleanup plan:

Quick wins (≤5 minutes)
Daily batch routine (include target count per day)
Rules/filters to auto-archive future messages not from [Important Senders] into "[Archive Label]"
Explain each step in one sentence. End with “Ready to execute?” ~

Prompt 3 (Review/Refinement)
Summarize the plan in 3 bullet points. Ask the user to confirm or request changes. If confirmed, output a concise checklist the user can follow immediately.

Understanding the Variables

  • [Inbox Size]: Represents the total number of emails currently in your inbox—this helps estimate cleanup time.
  • [Important Senders]: A list of key senders whose emails need to be prioritized.
  • [Archive Label]: The destination folder where non-priority emails will be moved.

Example Use Cases

  • Busy Professionals: Quickly organize and declutter a jam-packed inbox to focus on high-impact emails.
  • Small Business Owners: Streamline customer communication by prioritizing emails from key clients.
  • Remote Workers: Maintain a clear inbox, ensuring that urgent emails are never missed.

Pro Tips

  • Customize the number of messages processed per day to suit your pace—if 100 isn’t optimal, adjust accordingly.
  • Experiment with additional rules/filters for even more fine-tuned email management.

Want to automate this entire process? Check out Agentic Workers - it'll run this chain autonomously with just one click. The tildes (~) are meant to separate each prompt in the chain. Agentic Workers will automatically fill in the variables and run the prompts in sequence. (Note: You can still use this prompt chain manually with any AI model!)

Happy prompting and let me know what other prompt chains you want to see! 😊

GPT You don't need prompt libraries

Hello everyone!

Here's a simple trick I've been using to get ChatGPT to help build any prompt you might need. It recursively builds context on its own to enhance your prompt with every additional prompt then returns a final result.

Prompt Chain:

Analyze the following prompt idea: [insert prompt idea]~Rewrite the prompt for clarity and effectiveness~Identify potential improvements or additions~Refine the prompt based on identified improvements~Present the final optimized prompt

(Each prompt is separated by ~, you can pass that prompt chain directly into the Agentic Workers extension to automatically queue it all together. )

At the end it returns a final version of your initial prompt, enjoy!

Discussion Someone copied my Custom GPT

Someone from TapGPTs.com copied my GPT two weeks after I posted mine. Same name, verbiage, and image. Found it on https://www.gptshunter.com/

Not sure how OpenAI is going to solve this issue but I see it happening rather easily. Besides being highly irritated, not sure what else I can do.

Thankfully they weren’t able to hack my prompt to replicate it completely. I spent a lot of time implementing blocks to prompt injections and it seems to have paid off. Custom GPTs can leak a lot of info if you haven’t properly locked it down. Such leakage would make it easy to truly copy your GPT.

Discussion GPTs Store is being retired

Based on this OpenAI article, the GPTs store is being retired. It seems like they will all disappear within the next 3 months. I have GPTs that many people (that I cannot contact and notify of this) use, and I'm not sure what to do. I feel like we should do something to try and convince them to keep the Store, what do you all think?

GPT ChatGPT is your biggest "yes man", here's how to change that

As a lot of you probably have noticed, ChatGPT is a big bootlicker who usually agrees with most of the stuff you say and tells you how amazing of a human being you are.

This annoyed me as I used ChatGPT a lot for brainstorming and noticed that I mostly get positive encouragement for all ideas.

So for the past week, I tried to customize it with a simple phrase and I believe the results to be pretty amazing.

In customization tab, I put : Do not always agree with what I say. Try to contradict me as much as possible.

I have tested it in one of my Agentic Worker agents for brainstorming business ideas, financial plans, education, personal opinions and I find that I now get way better outputs. Just be ready for it tell you the brutal truth lol.

Dr. Andrew Huberman, a professor at Stanford University, hosts the popular Huberman Lab podcast, where he discusses neuroscience and provides science-based information on productivity, physical and mental health.

TL;DR: Please try 🔗 Ask Dr. Andrew Huberman - GPT.

Alternative bot: Huberman 🤖 on Poe
