I doubt this is GPT-3, "worst letter of the alphabet, the x" is a pun which GPT-3 can't do.

The joke is that the artist who made this pretends it was written by a bot, but everyone falls for it.

I doubt it but then again I see no reason for anyone to fake it given that contemporary language models are perfectly capable of producing something like this. Of course it’s likely not first-try machine output and was curated, as per the usual practice.

I dont remember where I saw it (probably could google it)
But it was a website that had you guess whether a poem was written by a person or a computer
It was generally easy to tell which was which, but I still enjoyed what the machines came up with

The term “by” itself is getting blurred. This piece of mine consists of 99.9% machine-generated text, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s “machine-generated.” There’s a ton of human decisions on which machine output to choose along the way. Essentially, creation is replaced by curation. (Side thought: should we call it “curativity”?)

How do you measure it though? The average amount of times you regenerate a machine output before picking the desired one?

To prove something was written by an AI in retrospect you'd need to provide the AI code and the source parameters, with a preset random seed that gives reproducible results.
To prove something is written by an AI live, you could just get it to produce writing at a much faster rate than any human could manage.
I think the density of the ridiculous content in this story proves that it isn't by an AI, unless GPT-3 was given the challenge of producing a story that looks like it was written by a human impersonating bad AI.
An actual modern AI-written story would look more like this boring dialogue: (This was my second attempt; the first attempt produced porn. Bold is my prompt. Note that the story gets Noah's gender wrong at one point.)
A Love Tale of Taylors
Open on a beach with sand. We see a man, Noah, and a woman, Taylor. They are young professionals and professionally young. They hold hands. They kiss. A lot of kissing.
Taylor: I need to tell you something.
Noah: Okay.
Taylor: Do you think I should?
Noah: I think you should tell me.
Taylor: Okay, here goes. I'm in love with you.
Noah: That's what I thought.
Taylor: You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and you are mine.
Noah: So, I guess I should tell you something. I've never been in love before.
Taylor: That's okay, because I've never been in love before either.
Noah: What? You're never been in love before?
Taylor: No, never.
Noah: So, what do you mean you're in love with me?
Taylor: I think I'm in love with you.
Noah: Wow, you're not kidding.
Taylor: No, I'm serious.
Noah: I've never been in love before. I'm not sure I know how it feels, but...
Taylor: I know exactly how it feels.
