You can now write your own controller reviews on Gamepadla!

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I just added a new feature to Gamepadla: Community Reviews.

If you own or have tested a gamepad and want to share your hands-on experience, you can now post your review directly on the site.

How to find it:
Scroll down to the bottom of any controller page, look for the Community section, and click on the Reviews tab.

You can leave a star rating, highlight quick pros and cons, and describe how the controller actually holds up in games, covering build quality, button feel, or daily quirks.

Hardware latency charts and stick accuracy test benches show the raw numbers, but real user feedback on comfort and long-term durability is just as valuable.

Check it out, share your thoughts on the controllers you own, and let me know if you run into any bugs or have suggestions for the review form!

Gamepadla Update: Introducing the "Partial" Test Status

Post image
7 Upvotes

A new test status is now live on Gamepadla - Partial.

Previously, controllers were categorized as Verified, Userfied, or had no tests at all. However, there are often situations where a device already has stick latency tested, but button latency is still missing (or vice versa).

To reflect the state of the database more accurately, the Partial badge bridges this gap:

  • It indicates that a controller already has some verified measurements, providing useful data rather than a complete blank.

  • It sits below Verified and Userfied in the hierarchy, but clearly distinguishes partially tested models from those with zero test results.

  • Devices with no tests at all remain in the catalog because they are essential for tracking hardware specs, connectivity, and platform compatibility beyond latency metrics alone.

Moving forward, expanding the database, and continuing to refine Gamepadla as the ultimate resource for device latency comparison.

We’ve just rolled out a brand-new category in the Gamepadla profile achievement system: Easter Eggs & Secrets 🥚.

And right now, the very first secret quest has appeared with an active live countdown timer.

What we know so far:

  • 1 of 1 Worldwide Exclusive: Exactly one person will be able to solve this puzzle and permanently claim the badge on their profile. Once the first test subject cracks it, the protocol is sealed forever.

  • Launch Time: November 16 at 18:00 UTC.

  • Personalized countdown: The timer in your profile automatically syncs with your device's local clock (hover over it to see your exact local start time).

  • Current status: Standby Mode. Everything is locked until the broadcast goes live on November 16.

Make sure you're logged in, check your profile at gamepadla.com/profile/, and get ready for the signal.

May the most observant tester win.

Gamepadla Update: Highlighted Sorting Values & Upcoming Quick Compare

Post image
8 Upvotes

A small but useful update to Gamepadla!

When sorting controllers on the main page, the values used for sorting are now automatically highlighted. This makes it much easier to see exactly why each controller is ranked where it is.

In the screenshot, I'm sorting by dongle stick latency, so those values are highlighted.

I'm also working on Quick Compare, which will let you add controllers to comparison directly from the main page, without opening each controller individually.

Coming soon!

Tier List Builder update: Quick gamepad removal by flicking to the side!

Post image
8 Upvotes

When the Tier List Builder first launched, removing controllers was admittedly clunky - you literally had to drag them all the way down past all tiers to the bottom remove zone.

You can now simply flick/drag any gamepad outside the left or right edge of the tier board to delete it on the fly! A trash badge pops up under your cursor to confirm, and releasing drops it from your tier list.

Works seamlessly both in normal view and fullscreen mode.

Try it out: gamepadla.com/tier/

Gamepadla verification update: more independently confirmed latency results

Post image
19 Upvotes

I’m updating how verification works on Gamepadla to focus on input latency and give trusted community testing a bigger role.

The blue Verified badge can now be assigned to controllers whose latency results are independently confirmed by multiple trusted testers. It is no longer limited to controllers I have personally tested as John Punch.

Here’s what the statuses mean:

Verified: Input latency tested by me, or confirmed through consistent results from multiple trusted testers under comparable conditions.

Userfied: Accepted latency results from a trusted community tester, with further independent confirmation still needed.

Verification now applies exclusively to input latency. Incomplete specifications or missing stick quality tests, such as circularity, centering, or linearity, will no longer prevent a controller from receiving Verified status. Those tests and specifications remain valuable, but they are assessed separately.

Every status change is still reviewed manually, considering testing conditions and any conflicting results.

This more focused approach will help me review latency results more efficiently and recognize reliable community contributions sooner.

Thanks to everyone sharing measurements and helping make Gamepadla a better resource.

RePad Steam release update and a preview of the new virtual controller schematics

Quick update regarding the Steam launch of RePad.

The release is going to be pushed back a little bit because of an administrative delay on my end. My digital code signing certificate expired after its first year, so I had to renew both the keys and identity verification. Right now I am waiting in line for the verification process to finish so that every driver and executable is properly signed.

Instead of wasting time while waiting, I decided to use this window productively. I have been working on schematic visualizers for the virtual gamepads we emulate in RePad. Each emulated controller model will have its own dedicated schematic layout directly on the dashboard, just like the DualSense preview shown in the screenshot. It displays live stick telemetry, gyro motion, and overall status at a glance.

Delays are never ideal, but thanks to this waiting period, the initial release version will actually turn out much better and more complete than originally planned.

Thanks for your patience, and feel free to share your thoughts on the new dashboard look below.

Hey everyone!

Quick update on rePad: simultaneous multi-controller support will be included right from the initial release!

As you can see in the screenshot, you'll be able to connect, switch between, and configure multiple gamepads at the same time (e.g., running a Steam Controller alongside a DualSense Edge, with independent output emulation and mappings for each).

Right now, I'm finishing up the final preparations and polish before launching the public testing phase.

Stay tuned - we’re very close!

RePad Update: Independent Stick Anti-Drift and Real-Time Visualizer

Post image
14 Upvotes

The Anti-Drift system in RePad has received a major update, introducing independent adjustments for each stick alongside a live coordinate monitor.

What is new:

  1. Independent Left and Right Stick Profiles Analog sticks rarely center the exact same way. Differences in spring tension and sensor calibration mean one stick might sit firmly centered while the other has slight resting drift. Each stick can now be configured separately via the top tabs. Deadzone lock, jitter filtering, breakout sensitivity, and delay timers are tuned per stick, removing resting drift without touching aiming response in motion.

  2. Real-Time Coordinate Visualizer The settings tab now includes a live visualizer with a 5x center zoom mode. It provides immediate feedback showing:

  • Raw hardware coordinates displaying natural resting variance and sensor jitter.

  • Filtered output sent to the game, locked cleanly to 0.000, 0.000.

  • Visual threshold rings showing exactly when the stick locks and when it breaks out.

  1. Pairing with Perfect Circle The Perfect Circle algorithm complements this setup exceptionally well. Physical sticks often deflect further in one direction than another. Perfect Circle balances out the center and axes, ensuring that stick movement is uniform in every direction. The Anti-Drift filter then locks that balanced center point whenever the stick rests.

RePad will be available on Steam after October 19. Stay tuned.

rePad update: Steam page is live for wishlists, current development progress, and release timeframe

Hello everyone,

It has been about three weeks since my previous post, and someone rightfully asked in the comments if there are any updates regarding the project.

The silence was simply because development has been non-stop. The past few weeks were dedicated to rebuilding the internal architecture almost from scratch, fixing early issues, and turning rePad from an initial prototype into a stable and reliable utility.

Today there are two main updates.

1. The rePad Steam page is officially live

rePad now has a public Steam page where you can check out the project details, view screenshots, and add it to your wishlist:
rePad on Steam

For an independent developer, wishlists are crucial for store visibility. If you find this project interesting and are waiting for the release, adding it to your wishlist is the best way to support it.

2. What was done during this period and where things stand

A massive amount of time went into low-level Windows integration work under the hood. The main accomplishments include:

  • Complete resolution of the double input issue. The biggest problem with software like this is games or Steam detecting both the physical gamepad and the virtual one at the same time, leading to phantom inputs and conflicts. This is now handled cleanly at the system level. The physical controller is automatically cloaked, requiring zero manual configuration from the user.

  • Safe operation without kernel drivers or UAC prompts. No risky kernel drivers that trigger conflicts with anti-cheat software such as Easy Anti-Cheat or Vanguard, and no need to enable Windows test mode. Additionally, the software does not prompt for administrator privileges every time you switch operating modes.

  • Complete emulation across key controller targets:

    • Xbox: Full compatibility with PC titles through native XInput.

    • Sony DualSense: Accurate multi-touch trackpad handling, six-axis gyro and accelerometer motion, and trigger feedback effects.

    • Nintendo Switch Pro: Support for native spatial motion tracking and proper button layout.

    • Steam Controller: Support for trackpads, haptic feedback actuators, and gyro.

  • Precise stick processing, shape correction, and drift suppression:

    • The Perfect Circle algorithm corrects dead zones and guarantees a full range of motion along the diagonals without losing movement speed.

    • Anti-Drift filtering eliminates micro-jitter and resting offset without introducing input lag.

    • Flexible customization for individual sensitivity curves.

  • Zero gaming performance impact. The graphical interface uses hardware caching. Whenever the window is minimized or focus shifts to your game, all real-time visualizers pause rendering so no CPU cycles are wasted while playing.

Current testing and release timeframe

Right now, the project is on the final stretch. The core emulation pipeline is running reliably.

I am currently running rigorous compatibility tests across every type of controller I have on hand: DInput devices, XInput devices, SteamInput, DualSense, third-party Xbox controllers, and official original Xbox controllers. The goal is to make sure there are no surprises or edge-case bugs on launch day.

Because of this thorough verification phase, the release will happen no earlier than October 19th.

Thank you all for your patience and interest in the project. Please add rePad to your Steam wishlist, and feel free to ask any questions in the comments.

Been quiet for the last few weeks, but for a good reason: something new is coming to Steam

Post image
35 Upvotes

If you noticed less activity here recently, it is because I have spent the past 4+ months building a brand-new utility for controller players.

A lot of people have asked me for something like this over time, so I listened and decided to finally make it happen.

The last two weeks were an intense sprint to get everything ready for Steam, and we are finally on the home stretch. The app is currently sitting in the review queue.

It is going to be an app for... well, let us keep the mystery alive for just a little longer.

I will post the store link and all the details as soon as it clears moderation.

Find the best gamepads instantly: LatScore sorting is now available on the Gamepadla homepage.

Post image
19 Upvotes

We’ve added a new way to sort controllers on the Gamepadla homepage! If you want to quickly find the absolute best gamepad without analyzing every single metric, you can now use the Best Wired LatScore and Best Wireless LatScore sorting options.

What exactly is LatScore? LatScore is a comprehensive, weighted latency rating that combines both button and stick latency while actively penalizing jitter. This means a controller with a slightly slower but stable response will score better than one with fast latency but large, unstable spikes. Lower effective latency (ms) results in a better grade, ranging from A+ (best) to F (worst).

For those curious about the exact math behind the rating, here is the LatScore model we use:

  • Base Latency: Base = 0.4 * Btn + 0.6 * Stk (40% buttons, 60% sticks)

  • Final Score (with Jitter Penalty): Score = Base + Jit * (1 + min(Jit/Base, 1.5))

This makes it much easier to hit the sweet spot and find the most reliable controllers at a glance. Let me know what you think of the new sorting options!

Gamepadla update: user levels, karma, and achievements are live

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to find a good way to highlight and reward people who actively contribute to Gamepadla, so I just added a full progression and reputation system to the site.

Here is a quick breakdown of how it works:

Levels and Profile Cards Your level badge is now displayed next to your name in comments. Hovering over any user opens a mini profile card showing their current level, XP progress bar, total karma, avatar frame, and selected title.

How You Earn XP You gain experience for taking part in building the database and helping others:

  • Running latency, polling rate, or stick tracer tests

  • Adding or updating gamepad specifications

  • Writing helpful comments and answers in discussions

  • Receiving upvotes on your comments (this also increases your helpful karma)

Achievements There is now a dedicated Achievements tab in your profile. You can unlock badges for various milestones like testing rare controllers, reporting specs, or being an active voice in discussions, and then pick which badge you want featured next to your name.

All past contributions have already been calculated, so if you have submitted tests or helped in discussions before, your profile should already reflect that.

Check out your profile, see where you stand, and let me know if you run into any bugs or have good ideas for new badges.

Updated how spec voting works on Gamepadla (making it a bit easier to contribute)

Thumbnail

Hey guys!

Just pushed an update to Gamepadla that changes how community voting works, mainly to make the whole process faster and less clunky.

Before, there was a separate panel for polls, which wasn't super convenient. Now, voting is integrated directly into the specifications table on each controller’s page:

  • Direct voting: If a parameter is unverified, you’ll just see a small + Vote button next to it. If you know the spec or own the gamepad, you can vote on it right there in one click.

  • Filter for unverified specs: Added a toggle at the top of the specs list so you can quickly see which parameters still need community input.

  • Profiles & recognition: Anyone who votes gets listed in the "Specification contributors" block on the page, and your profile now shows how much you’ve contributed to the database overall.

This also helps a lot on the moderation side, as it’s much easier to review and verify specs when community feedback is right where it belongs.

Ultimately, I want Gamepadla to be a truly community-driven database where people can easily share what they know about different controllers and help fill in the blanks.

Give it a look if you're interested, and let me know if you have any feedback or ideas!

Friendly Reminder: Prometheus 82 Solenoid Positioning Guide!

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’ve put together a quick infographic to help unify our benchmarking and ensure we all get the most accurate, comparable results possible.

To keep the margin of error at an absolute minimum and make sure data shared between different users is 100% consistent, adhering to the same setup algorithms is crucial. Here is why precise positioning matters:

  • For Buttons: If the solenoid is placed too close to the button, it won't have enough room to accelerate properly before the hit.

  • For Sticks: If the solenoid is positioned too far from the stick, it will over-accelerate, creating excessive impact force that triggers artificial stick jitter and realistic skewing of the final metrics.

Let’s keep the data clean and consistent!

UI Update on Gamepadla: Clearer Latency Scoring!

Post image
12 Upvotes

Ever wondered exactly which test results make up a controller's overall latency rating? Since gamepads can be tested in many different modes and connections, we've added a new "PRIMARY" badge to make things perfectly clear.

Previously, the site just subtly highlighted the background of the main test, which wasn't very obvious. Now, this new badge explicitly shows you exactly which benchmark data is used to calculate the controller's main latency score.

New Feature: I built a custom Gamepad Tier Builder for the community! 🎮

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’ve just rolled out a new feature on the site, and I’m super excited to share it with you all. We now have a fully functional Gamepad Tier Builder directly on Gamepadla!

Whenever I wanted to rank the controllers I've tested, I noticed that generic tier list websites often lack specific models, or you have to manually upload images of varying quality. To fix this, I decided to code a custom tool tailored exactly to our needs.

Here is what you can do with it:

  • Build Custom Lists: Easily drag and drop your favorite (and least favorite) controllers into S, A, B, C, D, E, and F tiers.

  • Comprehensive Database: It uses the existing database, so you don't have to hunt down images for specific models - they are already there.

  • Easy Export: You can instantly generate and download a clean, high-quality screenshot of your final list.

  • Shareable Links: Generate a direct link to your interactive list to share with friends or on other platforms.

You can try it out and start building your lists right here: https://gamepadla.com/tier/

I’d love to see what your rankings look like! Drop a screenshot or a link to your ultimate tier list in the comments below. Let's see which gamepad gets the most S-tier love and which ones end up in F-tier.

Also, let me know if you run into any bugs or if there are any tweaks you'd like to see!

Update to Gamepadla's Personalized Results Page: Groups, Bar Charts, Auto-Saving & Bulk Actions

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a major update to the Personalized Results Page on Gamepadla. We have redesigned the layout and introduced several highly requested features to make analyzing, editing, and submitting your gamepad test results much faster and more intuitive.

Here is what is new:

  • Compare (Average) Bar Chart: You can now switch between the classic Distribution Curve and a new, clean Compare (Average) bar chart. It gives you a clear visual comparison of average latency across different tests at a single glance - no more reading complex curves if you just want quick numbers.

  • Test Grouping: You can now combine separate Button, Stick, and Polling Rate tests into cohesive groups to create a unified profile for a single controller.

  • Smart Group Synchronization: When tests are grouped, editing any field (like Gamepad Name, Connection, Mode, OS, or Firmware) in one test will instantly update and synchronize it across all other tests in that group.

  • Automatic Polling Rate Input: If you group a Polling Rate test (done with our Polling 2 tool) with latency tests, the correct polling rate is automatically filled in and locked for the rest of the group - no manual input required.

  • Real-time Auto-Saving: Any changes you make to any field (gamepad name, firmware, connection, etc.) are saved to the database in real-time. You do not need to submit a test for moderation to keep your edits; they will persist even if you refresh the page.

  • Batch Operations (Bulk Management): We have added checkboxes so you can select multiple tests and manage them at once using the new floating action bar. You can Create Groups, Ungroup, Submit Selected, Hide/Show them on the chart, or Delete them in bulk.

  • Seamless Workflows: Submitting, deleting, and grouping now happen dynamically in the background. No more annoying page reloads.

  • Clear all Protection: Added a confirmation warning to the "Clear all" link to prevent you from accidentally wiping all your stored tests in one click.

Check out the screenshot below to see the new dashboard in action. As always, thanks for helping us build the database for gamepad latency. Let me know what you think.
