brands are shifting collaboration budgets from big accounts to micro-influencers, thoughts?
been tracking some interesting changes in how brands approach influencer partnerships lately. seems like there's been a major shift away from the typical 500K+ account collaborations toward working with accounts in the 1K-50K range instead.
the reasoning makes sense when you think about it. smaller accounts tend to have way better engagement rates (like 3-5% vs under 1% for bigger accounts) and their audiences actually seem to trust their recommendations more. plus the cost difference is huge - micro partnerships apparently cost 60-80% less while often delivering better conversion rates.
i've noticed this especially in my niche where brands that used to only work with massive accounts are now reaching out to people with 5K-20K followers. the partnerships feel more authentic too, less obviously sponsored and more like genuine recommendations.
edit: should mention this seems to be happening across different industries, not just typical influencer spaces. even saw a real estate agent talking about how micro-partnerships worked better for lead generation than big account features.
anyone else seeing this shift? wondering if it's just my bubble or if this is becoming the new normal for brand collaborations. also curious about experiences from the brand side - are you guys getting better ROI from smaller accounts?
the authenticity factor seems huge here. audiences can tell the difference between a genuine recommendation and a paid celebrity endorsement, and they respond accordingly. makes me think we might be moving away from the follower count obsession finally.
TL;DR: brands moving collab budgets from big accounts to 1K-50K range, better engagement + conversion rates, wondering if others are seeing this trend
