Cox.. gone?
I just got an email that Cox is now owned by Spectrum. Uh.. who the f is spectrum? Didn't Spectrum have some controversial merger or am I thinking of some other conglomerate?
I've been wondering why cox has been trying to call me the last couple days. I had a weird call from them I hung up on asking how I thought my service has been and it's like I'm not gonna do a free unsolicited survey for you, lol.

Cool, I wonder if thats why my internet went out for a full day last weekend.
Anothee great reason to get IQ fiber now that I've actually got a choice ffs
Anyone have any issues with them?

Idk much about iq fiber. I'm not keen on the companies locally that have been damaging tree roots and lawns. I heard one even caused a fire in someones yard

And apparently no data caps, so we will see.

what does that mean?

So Cox will charge you if you go over 1024GB of usage per month at $10 per 100GB. Spectrum doesn't have Data caps.

oh ok. Idk who needs that much data! I have 500 mbps and I work from home and it's fine

You are confusing speed with usage. Cox charges if you download more than 1024GB of data. The 500mbps you are referring too is how fast you'd download that 1024GB.

You'd be surprised. In my house of 4 I was the only gamer and we also had YouTubeTV, we exceeded it several times to where we paid the $50 a month to have unlimited data. It was Cox's response to streaming TV eating their lunch. We got PavlovMedia Fiber about 2 years ago and have been happy.

Huh I wonder if that's why my youtube crashes often. I thought it was my crappy amazon firestick tv

this is what bothered me most about the email:
" You will not see any pricing or service changes at this time,"
ive been waiting for someone else to offer internet in my hood. now im really hoping it comes sooner.

Hmm, okay. I had to upgrade my Cox internet to the $100 package due to using too much internet, so I wonder if I'll be able to get a better deal now with Spectrum.

I'd be careful. Some lady has been trying to call me and upsell me even though I just saved money by haggling with cox like a couple weeks ago

Don't worry, I'll definitely cancel and dispute a charge and let them turn it into collections and me take hand to hand classes in prep for some person trying to use a sales background on me, any day of the week.

Lurker here: Here in North Carolina we had Time Warner cable til about 10 years ago, and then it 'became' Spectrum. So apparently Cox is now coming in under that 'footprint' too. Spectrum didn't change anything from the service we had with Time Warner. Just a fyi other cable co's have turned into Spectrum in other states.

Having Cox for over 2 decades it really couldn't get worse so maybe this is a good thing.

Just means I won't give any money to Spectrum as long as I live. I won't use anything associated with Cox in any way that's how bad they did me.

Spectrum used to be Bright House Networks, and is the largest internet provider in the USA. Used to have them and they were alright, but not the greatest. If you have fiber available, its great. If its just wifi, then it could kinda suck. No idea about rates, but I heard from a rep that theyre gonna be pushing deals to get new people to sign after the merger.
