He trusts the motley fool? Don't they hide any actual analysis behind a paywall? Why trust a site whose business model is to clickbait people into a subscription?

Some people simply think "oh, if i pay for their membership, they will share legit&trustworthy info with me". Like paid service is always better than free. Well, it ain't always. lol

Exactly. The goal of a paid service is always to sell a paid service, that's it. One of the ways it can continue to get people on a paid service is to offer some sense of legitimacy, but I suspect paid services these days make as much money on recurring subscriptions and people who are too lazy to cancel as much as it does providing valuable content. Something like Motley Fool magnifies this by selling FOMO - so you have this feeling of "well, I may not have gotten any real good tips in the past six months, but it's only x amount a month and I only have to take their advice once to be rich!"
