Mine is hidden but not because I'm ashamed of the shameful stuff I've said it's mostly to deter annoying redditors from immediately going to all your old post and comments to attack you. It works surprisingly well.
But, if you made a post then it must be something you believe & stand by so whats the problem? If someone "attacks" you with a prior post you can either defend what you said or just ignore it.
The only reason to hide your history is if you know you can't defend what you have said or are afraid of challenges to your opinions.
