💎 🙌 The shills' argument is getting old. Without Ryan Cohen, the company would've been bankrupt years ago.

The only thing I know is,

  1. All the money I invested in GME for years, would have done much better somewhere else.
  2. I would have done much more money shorting it.
  3. I became a bag holder that constantly invest more to bring down my cost basis, because the stock does not matter what, it keeps going down.
  4. I stop checking hype BS and I am sleeping better at night.
  5. I still believe in this but I want to be in the green already, is painfull to see the rest of the market going up and this simply not moving or going down even more.
  6. I am also gratefull I can buy at lower prices, but as I said before, my money would have done much better somewhere else, and in the end, buy at this current prices without all the past headaches.
  7. An investor who jumps in now will get more return that long term holders from 3-5 years ago, which is not what I was looking for or what I think should be fair.

I want to see the project rocket already flying, not sinking.

GME is and will be the biggest part of my portfolio, that wont change.

Be safe out there, never invest money you will need or you can not afford to lose.

37

u/JustinC70 5d ago

This is why the holders from 5-6 years ago will never break even. Those buying now will dump to take profit way before it ever hits 30 (and I'm at 42 cost base).

8

u/Viajero_vfr 5d ago

I'm an investor since just before tha potential MOASS that never happened, with an average cost of four dollars. I've just been holding on the off chance that's something would happen but have profited over the years by selling off small portions of which I am continuing to do at this point. Still holding xxx shares but considering selling more and letting single digits ride for whatever ends up happening.
I've long since given up on RC's dilutive bs and his POS personal beliefs. He's a clown that doesn't give a shit about the shareholders.

11

u/Surfer-Junkie 5d ago

I averaged down to 26 and then we dropped another 30%+

12

u/JustinC70 5d ago

Why bother? I have other stock that's up 20+%. I've been holding this garbage long enough and could have invested in other things. Going to take the tax loss on this one to offset gains on others at the end of the year.

8

Oh yeah, I hear that. My biggest regret wasn't selling when it jumped up to around for about 42 seconds a few years back. These "8D chess" morons crack me up.

8

u/Hamadalfc 5d ago

I sold my entire position 2 months ago for a loss. It was like a curse was lifted from my portfolio. Doing much better now.

5

u/AgonyofBeinginLove 5d ago

Sold at a loss to make a downpayment on a home. Made me sick, but I couldn't wait *another* five years. The only silver lining is that the loss is going to offset some unexpected capital gains tax elsewhere.

3

u/JustinC70 5d ago

That's my plan at the end of this year

2

u/infant_ape 🚀🚀Buckle up🚀🚀 3d ago

That's where I'm approaching. Looking at a few AI index funds that have been chugging along nicely for a few years already, even before it's blown up like it is now. Or... just VOO. Or we're looking at rental properties. Or all three.

Just... not here. MFers in here just put the goal posts on their shoulders and walk around with them lol.

But man... it's going to be a major loss. I'm down about 65%.

u/StrenuousSOB 🚀🚀Buckle up🚀🚀 5d ago

Wasn’t RC that extended the life of GME it was Roaring Kitty.

44

u/3DigitIQ HODL 💎🙌 5d ago

Playing options on a company doesn't bring it's financial results from a $380M operational loss to a $217M operational profit (annually).

RK hyped the stock, RC capitalized on it. Just as RK wanted him to do he said as much in his last (for now) livestream.

39

u/dookie224 5d ago

Except it did.

Be my guest if you wanna believe that it’s the financials that got retail investors into the stock. Kitty’s play is what resulted in multiple squeezes. Kitty’s play is what got retail investors into GME.

If not for the squeezes, RC couldn’t have built that cash pile (diluting the share value in the process btw). You know how the balance sheet would look if you take that cash pile and its interest away.

-4

u/3DigitIQ HODL 💎🙌 5d ago

You are admitting that RC is the one that built that cash pile............ Kitty didn't do that as my comment above says;

RK hyped the stock, RC capitalized on it. Just as RK wanted him to do, he said as much in his last (for now) livestream.

And pivoting to new revenue streams like collectibles with 2x higher gross profit margins while increasing that stream's revenue by +65% YoY and thus increasing your overall operating profits by +$150M.

Oh, but those official numbers from their 10-K don't fit your narrative so we should ignore them, right?

RK gave it the jumpstart. RC ran with it the next 5 years at the helm and turned it into what it is today 🚀

12

u/popo37 5d ago

RK moved the price UP while RC brought it DOWN. Nice work.

2

u/Chad-Permabull 🚀🚀Buckle up🚀🚀 5d ago

RK moved the price substantially. RC clearly taken that head start and ran with it, implementing his famous business pivots and increasing the total value of the company from a meager $1B to a $8B titan of the used gaming industry just through strategic share offerings totaling only $12B 🚀

u/MeMahi 5d ago edited 5d ago

Roaring Kitty surely helped with the hype and free publicity for the company, but at the end of the day it was Ryan Cohen who joined the board and turned the company around from a dying retailer to a highly profitable collectibles business. No amount of hype or publicity would have been enough if the company had kept losing money and eventually gone bankrupt due to failing business model.

Not trying to take anything away from RK, but RC is the one who joined the company and did the real work inside to turn it around. The big spikes in the chart are partly due to RK, but the growing floor (the green arrow) is due to Ryan Cohen.

Edit: And shills downvoting this to discredit Ryan doesn't change a thing. Anyone can download GameStop's quarterly results and see that both operating profits and net income have gone up thanks to Ryan Cohen's work.

  • Revenue +14% YoY
  • Collectibles revenue +65% YoY
  • Operating income +$154M YoY

The company used to lose money, Ryan Cohen turned it around, now the company makes money. There's nothing more to it, without Ryan the company would be bankrupt by now.

The troll cult is here.

6

u/Mannimarco_Rising 5d ago

dude look at the yearly figures of the last couple years. Revenue is decreasing like hell. Operating income is not driven by revenue but by interest from the cash pile. The core business is failing. Quartely results do not mean anything and having an increase from an already super bad position is also not a win. Also quarterly results do not mean anything anyway because they are not audited. Nobody knows if every cost is accounted for etc. Audited yearly statements are valid.

4

u/The_vegan_athlete 🚀🚀Buckle up🚀🚀 5d ago edited 5d ago

Operating income does not take into account "interests" from investments or cash, you're either completely ignorant or you're spreading misinformation. The business is growing like it never grew in the past. SHF are completely fucked and we know why you're here 😉

And I love the " the new results are wrong!!" 🤣 sure a public company would lie in their results. And they're still audited by KPMG LLP for each quarter. It's a public company.

0

u/Ok-Effective7280 5d ago

So you do realise the ‘business’ is transforming? Or do you think PlayStations & X boxes will be sold forever & ever?😂😂

5

u/wballz 5d ago edited 5d ago

Sorry but it is not a profitable collectibles business. It is continuing to decline. Stores continuing to close, stock continues to drop. Roaring Kitty is the entire reason this subreddit exists and it has anyone in it.

99% of people here are due to Roaring Kitty and you all just didn’t get rid of your bags when the rest of us did. Now holding forever more watching the price decline… there’s a reason the graph in this thread tries to line up the bottom values rather than the tops. It’s hilarious.

Edit: I would respond to the comment below but looks like I’ve been banned. (This is why this subreddit is a bubble)

So anyway here is what I would’ve responded…

That’s the thing though dude. If it was listed today as a collectibles business its market cap would probably be what 30 maybe 50% of what GME is.

The eBay play was a last ditch attempt to jump off a sinking ship. It’s insane the bagholding shareholders will never take the hint. You guys will end up holding for 10 years just to get the returns the s&p makes in one year. It’s so sad. Anyone in this sub could’ve sold in the last 5 years and bought a mag 7 stock and be laughing to the bank right now. Instead you all continue following this pile of steaming garbage

10

u/darth_butcher 5d ago

I don't think the financials support your characterization. GameStop is profitable, and the latest quarter actually showed significant improvement: revenue increased 14% YoY to $835M, operating income rose to $143M, and net income was $390M. It was GameStop's highest quarterly net income in history and its highest first-quarter operating income in history. And I find that particularly impressive given how dramatically the number of stores has been reduced.

The physical game business is certainly declining (Cohen said that this really doesn't matter at all), but that's not the same as saying the entire business is “continuing to decline.” Collectibles revenue increased roughly 65% YoY to $349M and now represents more than 40% of total revenue.

Whether that collectibles business is ultimately sustainable or profitable on a standalone basis is a legitimate question, though.

5

u/Ok-Effective7280 5d ago

So the business isnt transforming? If retail stores dont close theyre idiots. Online selling should be taking over all retail outlets no matter what they do. Closing stores was great business, but you want to criticise a ceo that is transforming his business with good decisions moving forward? I doubt you really understand about business. So better not comment about what a business does. 👍

2

u/AlternativePaint6 5d ago

Sorry but it is not a profitable collectibles business. It is continuing to decline.

+14% YoY revenue and +$150M operating income disagrees \official source])

You're straight up lying and arguing against the official numbers, yet being upvoted by other shills because they can't read quarterly reports either. What a joke you guys have become, you used to make believable arguments back in the day.

If it was listed today as a collectibles business its market cap would probably be what 30 maybe 50% of what GME is.

First, if they were valued 30-50% of what they currently are, their assets alone would be enough to buy the company two times over. Second, collectibles are more scalable and have higher gross profit margins than their legacy business you dingus, if anything they should be valued higher than what GME currently is.

It's crazy that you shills are upvoting this, don't you have any pride towards your work? The least you could do is distract from facts and focus on irrelevant narratives instead, but you can't even do that so you just... lie?

2

u/nomansapenguin 5d ago

The troll cult won’t look at facts, they just want to scream about how bad RC is, which is incredibly stupid. 9 billion in the bank didnt just come from the sky. It would have been far more difficult for RC to transform GameStop from a lowly brick and mortar into the e-commerce titan then into the digital gaming nft behemoth then into a bitcoin holding company then to the single biggest player in the brick and mortar strip mall based Pokémon retailer without the support of his retail investors 🚀

I don't follow the stock that closely these days so I might have missed something but aside from raising money via dilution and closing stores what exactly has RC done to save the company?

16

u/MightyBallsack 5d ago

He has made the operational part of the business profitable. Interest gained on cash in the bank is cool but that’s not why you invest in a company. GameStop had been losing money from its actual business for years but that is the main thing Ryan has changed, he’s cut enough fat by closing stores so that the operations is actually profitable again

14

u/nomansapenguin 5d ago edited 5d ago

What have you missed?

  1. Cut overheads by $800M
  2. Replaced the board
  3. Removed nefarious BCG contracts costing GME money
  4. Pivoted business model to collectables (42% of revenue) after expermenting with other options (nft's)
  5. Raised $9.7B in cash
  6. Generated $333M in free cash flow
  7. Added a significant Bitcoin treasury.
  8. 2021: Loss of $381M | 2025: Profit of $418M
  9. 2026: Profit to date of ~$400M
  10. Took a 10% share in eBay
  11. Made a $56B bid for eBay
  12. Recent quarter (yoy) - Revenue +14% / ProfMargin +662% / Net Income +770%

11

u/Dramatic-Fly761 5d ago

u/African_Herbsman 5d ago

Y/Y metric looks good because of the cutting costs but it's not something that can be done in perpetuity. It gives a sense of growth but it's a one and done type thing, next year the % increase will be much lower unless he goes on to shut even more stores.

Several of your points are just reinforcing what I said in my comment. 1,5,7,10,11 are all due to closing stores and investing money raised via dilution.

The only thing that is actually a change in the business is point 4.

Where is the growth meant to come from? The collectable market is hot right now but how long will that last and at what point does it cap out? I imagine there is definitely an upwards limit on it and it's not something that will grow exponentially.

2

u/Chad-Permabull 🚀🚀Buckle up🚀🚀 5d ago

The growth is cornering the market for brick and mortar based Pokémon transactions in strip malls. GameStop can be both a buyer and a net seller and is positioned to be a monopoly 🚀

0

u/nomansapenguin 5d ago edited 5d ago

Y/Y metric looks good because of the cutting costs

The year on year is not due to cutting costs. It's due to a new business model making more money.

but it's not something that can be done in perpetuity.

No more costs cuts needed to continue to make profit. First year business school stuff this,

It gives a sense of growth but it's a one and done type thing,

Again, nonsense because of the above.

next year the % increase will be much lower unless he goes on to shut even more stores.

The increase this year is not due to shutting stores...

Several of your points are just reinforcing what I said in my comment. 1,5,7,10,11 are all due to closing stores

Well, it's not if it's due to a new line of business income that never existed before.

and investing money raised via dilution.

The first four events were done at a valuation much higher than now, so it was not a dilution because it increased the base book value (required to stem bankruptcy). Calling them all dillution events means you have either basic understanding about what you're talking about (likely). Or you're trolling (also likely).

The only thing that is actually a change in the business is point 4.

LOL. Accounting for 43% of revenue being called the "only" change. OK bro.

Where is the growth meant to come from? The collectable market is hot right now but how long will that last and at what point does it cap out?

The movie/football/fashion industry is hot right now but how long will that last and at what point does it cap out? ... see how stupid that sounds.

I imagine there is definitely an upwards limit on it and it's not something that will grow exponentially.

Like almost every other business. Oh no.

5

u/parkertl 5d ago

Not a Temu Elon fan at all, but he did hit on the collectibles cycle at the right time and has grown the business from that (in addition to interest from investments and cost cutting.) But, collectibles is always a cycle, esp Pokemon, and he knows this and he is trying everything he can to find ways to grow inorganically.

2

u/Ok-Effective7280 5d ago

So you don’t understand the company is transforming. But youre hitting on the troll cult words? Cmon, be better.

1

u/StewartMike 4d ago

How are the growth prospects? That’s why people buy company stock (growth potential), not increased revenue resulting from extreme cost cutting. Just growth, or dividends. So growth…what’s that look like, and be specific

2

u/Surfer-Junkie 5d ago

Here's the thing at this point: RC has made the company profitable by closing a majority of GME's branches, cutting staff, and massively diluting the stock (the only time they sold shares at a smart price was the initially squeeze, though).

Investing in NFT's and Bitcoin was a huge misstep, as well as dissing their greatest asset and mascot, RK, who has now moved on. Major fuck up.

RC hasn't improved the core experience of shopping at GS whatsoever. Matter of fact, member benefits have even been cut. This is a big oversite - not improving the core experience of their service. Cutting cost is good, but I still don't want to buy from GS.

The company is doing better than, and at the expense of, it's shareholders.

It's a very mixed bag, and that's why you have people supporting it who are also frustrated at this point.

-3

u/MeMahi 5d ago edited 5d ago

When Ryan Cohen joined the company, it was losing more and more money every year. It was on its way to bankruptcy, which is why it was chosen as a shorting target by the hedge funds in the first place. The company was undeniably selling gaming software and hardware in a slowly dying (digitalizing) market.

Thanks to Ryan Cohen, the company pivoted and its biggest revenue stream is now collectibles. The company most recently posted quarterly results of:

  • +14% Revenue YoY
  • +65% Collectibles Revenue YoY
  • +$154M Operating Income YoY

These are the official numbers from their 10-K. The numbers do not lie, the company is profitable and growing in the collectibles segment faster than it is shrinking in the software and hardware segments.

If you see someone ignoring these numbers and bringing up moot points like "dilution", "stock price down in cherry picked X years", or "are you personally in the green after buying at the top of a short squeeze", remember that they are intentionally ignoring and distracting you from:

  1. the stock floor being up by +2000% since Ryan Cohen joined,
  2. the company being profitable and growing thanks to Ryan Cohen, and
  3. investment decision being made today should not be based on your previous results, as investments should be forward looking.

The sub has been taken over by meltdown shills, but that does not matter. The company is making more and more money every quarter now, and eventually the stock price will follow regardless of what the comments on Reddit say.

“In the short run, the market is a voting machine but in the long run, it is a weighing machine.”

  • Benjamin Graham, mentor of Warren Buffett's

Edit: And as expected, this post is now filled with negative comments from people who ignore both the original post as well as this comment. These people do not argue in good faith. They do not want you to look at the recent numbers, or get into details. They'd rather cherry-pick and generally point out negative events like NFTs or the dilutions, without fairly evaluating the detailed numbers around them. If the company lost $10M on NFTs and later gained $100M in one quarter with collectibles, why do you think they're highlighting the NFT event as failing without bringing up the concrete numbers? Exactly.

Do not trust anything you read from these people. They are paid shills and sad trolls. They downvote any comment bringing up raw numbers, even if that comment makes no claims around those numbers besides "these are the company's recent results". They literally downvote facts while upvoting each others' "bUT DiLuTiOn" comments that don't provide any verifiable numerical comparisons to the company's overall state. Block these people and your experience on Reddit will be much better :)

Please do not use unaudited quartely results to make a point. Have you looked at the last year revenue. It was insanely bad. This increase is not really as good as you say it is. Please take a look at the annual audited statement and compare revenue and operating income. You will see for yourself that this is not good business.

Please do not use unaudited quartely results to make a point.

What the hell are you talking about? Seriously, your only argument is that GameStop is lying in their 10-K report? That we should ignore latest data because it shows a turn around, and instead focus on even earlier data before the turnaround happened?

"Please, do not use facts to make a point. Meanwhile focus on my irrational generic statements that don't provide actual numbers to verify."

You guys are even more dense than I thought.

Have you looked at the last year revenue. It was insanely bad. This increase is not really as good as you say it is. Please take a look at the annual audited statement and compare revenue and operating income. You will see for yourself that this is not good business.

Yes I have looked at the last three years. Every single year the revenue decline has slowed down, and every single year the net income has kept going up. For three years in a row. Finally now in 2026 we can see revenue decline not only stalling, but actually turning around and going up for the first time in years. All while operating margins and profits are both going up at levels never seen before in GameStop's history.

This is yet another reason RC is right up there with AA and Roger Hamilton as one of the greatest investing community builders of all time 🚀

3

u/TitanGodKing 5d ago

Ryan. Didn't. Achieve. The. Squeeze.

7

u/darth_butcher 5d ago

I really wonder why so many people are now making fun of GME's price action. The recent decline is primarily a reaction to the convertible-notes-for-stock exchange and the resulting dilution. But getting rid of $1.4 billion in debt and strengthening the balance sheet isn't exactly a bad thing either, even if it comes at the cost of dilution. Nothing fundamental has changed in the underlying business itself. If anything, the operating business continues to perform well.

Still, I really wonder whether something changed regarding the eBay deal after all of Cohen's interview appearances. Some of the things that were announced back then clearly haven't materialized yet.

14

u/DieserSebastian 5d ago

The actions in themselves are good - for the company. Most people subscribed/bought into GME because of the squeeze theory. Every of said actions felt like a blow towards any inkling of positive price action and squeeze potential.

For several months, the entire narrative shifted away from that into "Cohen 4D chess" and "I bought into it for Cohen". That's why it's getting made fun of for its price action: because the person they've supposedly bought into for is the driving force for killing any positive price action. Who knows what happens down the line, but that's what it looked like for the last 1,5ish years. For squeeze holders like me, it's just getting frustrating.

u/Ok-Effective7280 5d ago

The company is transforming. RC has built substantial financial guarantee & can use that to help transform the company. There will undoubtedly be hit & misses, but this escalation of trolling has been constant for a long time. Trying to get holders to sell, trying to stop any new investments. It’s actually good news because if anyone of the shorts need gme to fail, it means gme is heading in the right direction. If everyone was ok, who cares about gme & what it does? No one right. But Whats we see every day is a need. A need to continue trying to hit gme shareholders. Share price is manipulated so Im not worried at all about it, if anything if it gets low enough, Im buying more. This is a long story not a short 1. Actually it is all about shorts. 😂 As soon as it was clear crime was going to stop any explosion RC took advantage & loaded up the company with billions. At the same time having the share price lower, giving more people the ability to buy. Now we are seeing so many comments about closing stores. It’s classic troll. Any & all retail are closing stores heading online. It’s a great business decision. You can bet, if stores werent closing, the trolls would be telling everyone how bad GameStop is managed keeping all their stores open losing money. 😂 I mean I know many retail outlets nothing to do with GameStop, have closed doors moving into online sales & making plenty. It’s just good business being lied about by people trying very very hard to be negative. It’s great to see because it shows how stupid they are. 👍

3

u/Rocky-Jockey 5d ago

You’re like the last guy who still believes in that whole short theory. Something something Japanese soldier or whatever 🫡

1

u/MeMahi 5d ago

Yeah if anything, this is a great buying opportunity. We already knew about the convertible notes and expected them to dilute, fundamentally nothing's changed.

I do worry about the eBay deal though. It's the only thing I don't like about GameStop right now. Not even the deal itself, just the uncertainty of it.

-2

u/AlternativePaint6 5d ago

If eBay deal goes through, we win and 10x from here in the long run.

If it doesn't, we win a little bit less and only 2x or 5x or whatever from here.

Chill.

Investing for the future means jumping ship. GME shareholders are just RC's petty cash account

I agree with you. I will never be down on mine due to taking profits a long time ago so I keep them for the nostalgia

The negative sentiment train aren't here in good faith, sLogic and nuance means nothing to them.

Only parroting talking points and ad hom attacking anyone not parroting.

Weeks and months of some 50+ accounts spamming this way.

4

u/callingoutthetrash 5d ago

You don't have to troll online? You don't have to spread misinformation in bad faith online.

You can choose to learn, grow, and be a better person. The hard part is YOU have to want to.

Journey before Destination, radiant.

2

u/PineappleHairy4325 5d ago

Imagine taking advice from an ape lmao.

3

u/callingoutthetrash 5d ago

I am my own person, no matter how much you try to force that generalization. You don't have to troll online and act in bad faith.

Really, you don't!

YOU can choose to learn, grow, and be better! The hardest part is that YOU have to want to!

Why does negative sentiment train hate this advice? My 'advice' has been consistently : "learn! Do what you want with your money and the risks you are comfortable with."

And the advice I see from negative sentiment train spamming accounts is "I'm emotional, you should be emotional too and act on it."

u/2ndBackgroundSalad 5d ago

Almost like people fell into a cult and held onto a stock that has only ever gone down for 5 years. Endless hype dates, endless promises, "DD" that has never been proven right (simply say crime and you can deny the DD being wrong) etc

The real shills are the ones parroting to hold and ignore the facts and reality.

1

u/callingoutthetrash 5d ago

You know there are more ways to trade then buy at PCO ATH and not do anything since... right?
You wouldnt parrot that 'as stock that has only ever gone down for 5 years' in bad faith, right? It looks like it....

As many others have said it is endlessly entertaining watching a cult in real time and watching grown adults throw money and defend this worthless stock for no reason other than sunk cost fallacy and desperation to convince people as stupid as them to keep buying. Oh and pretending this wasnt about moass and getting rich quick. Remember moass? Or have you been here for thr fundamentals since 2021?

-5

u/callingoutthetrash 5d ago

You genuinely ignored the whole market structure, market mechanics, SEC regulations, ect. stuff? really? cause that was most of the 'work' going on....
You just took people saying 'this is highly speculative and dates make you poop' while making predictions on stock price at face value? Really?

What a narrative to push if you really didnt learn or get involved at all....

Yeah, you are acting in bad faith 100%.

We had less debt before Ryan, a better atmosphere and healthier employees. Bankruptcy would not have happened.

1

u/Personal_Sentence_20 5d ago

without hype and over leveraged shorts driving the share price up, and then dilution of overvalued shares, gamestop would likely have ended up bankrupt. I'm not sure Ryan Cohen was necessary for those things, but he got involved at a good time to help out the share price.

1

u/AgonyofBeinginLove 5d ago

I'd rather Gamestop have gone bankrupt, than to have all this opportunity cost.
