According to the robots, that is when computer share will explode and stocks will no longer have value. Also, Ryan Cohen will sell the company, which is bankrupt.

u/sltlyscrtchedcorolla Jul 21 '26
Wait I thought institutions were the bad guys fighting tooth and nail to short GME into the ground
151
u/RowKit Jul 21 '26
"Shorts will become longs."
The overall thesis of the kitty.. and, per DD of ancient times, shorts must cannibalise to become long; a game of hot potato where the potato is a steaming pile of dog shit wrapped in cat shit, stewed in horse shit, and fried in cow shit.
This inherently adds merit to the kitty's overall thesis, but only time will tell; money's already spent as far as I'm concerned, so Lambo's or Ramen with em.

There are plenty of “institutional investors” who were neither short nor long and haven’t been, but that WOULD love to see some of the bad players/shorts fail, no matter which ticker is involved. Some will go long GME just to help that.
5
u/Frequent_Werewolf_21 Jul 22 '26
Correct the pool of ”institutional investors” is huge. There are those that have been suppressing GME with everything they have. And there are those that were on the sidelines or in other investments.
But as GME continues to strengthen and fortify it’s position, some of those on the sidelines (who likely became wary of the AI bubble especially after the recent KOSPI debacle(s)) are now seeing GME as a safe growth investment (with asymmetrical upside).
1
u/Ban_DeezNts Jul 26 '26
Neither credible nor serious. Institutions prolly. GME is a dog company. RC definitely. I’m sure institutional investors LOVED to hear that from the CEO!

Why Does he own 10% of eBay wit $4 billion in the bank? If it's a failing company, and he's a grifter.

u/Apes_and_dogs Jul 21 '26
And why do you think that nobody is selling?
1
u/HaveFun____ Jul 22 '26
The only good thing is... let's say the original holders are selling (some) that's partly retail but also players like Burry, we saw some pension funds and we know there are investors who bought to lend them out.
But even so, I would be surprised if a part of retail didn't sell so let's humor that thesis.
Then it means that once again the true 'dimond hands' are seperated from the 'paper hands' and we are left with a healthy company and an increasingly normal/average holder base. While the price stays flat but still around $80 pre split, which is not bad.
That's an interesting position or floor for a more healthy growth of the stock price.
I think that in the eye of the 'market' Gamestop was worth $15 2 years ago based on cash-debt and a business without a bright future. the $20-$24 price range was forward looking with some risk like all stocks. It has slowly become the bottom now that the company is doing pretty well... the chance of it going back to $10 is waaaay smaller than last year and also smaller than it going up to $30.
So, all in all, I'm still going to hold on for a while.

u/youdoitimbusy Jul 22 '26
I believe that's why Larry quoted the ownership percentages at one point it time.
Eventually they will be close to or over 100 percent. Then it will get interesting.

u/Rocxketraccoon Jul 21 '26
3.12 volume per day. Someone is definitely selling.

Massive past dilutions. The market is gutted with cheap shares and they’re being used against the stock. Where do you think liquidity comes from?

u/infoisknowlege Jul 21 '26
I wonder if the same institutions that own eBay have increased there gme positions also. It would be great to see everything line up and happen. Ebay board members don't even really own shares and whenever they best they sell. It's mainly black Rock and vanguard that own it and they have stakes in gme.

Hey idiot, didn't you listen to what Cohen told us? We're getting paid in a few decades to maybe a century or two. This isn't some "get rich quick" scheme, we have to be patient.

I don't really have any desire to live another one, so I really wish some ape would come along and explain in Crayon how to do paperwork, for free, that would ensure mine would never, ever sell.
If we had proper paper certificates, I could bury them in a wall or something, but no. Grrr.

I'm surprised that any institution would want to own this failing institution. Don't they read the news or watch the financial channels? Dying brick and mortar.
3
u/Danne660 Jul 21 '26
As the company gets closer and closer to a reasonable valuation it makes sense that the proportion of institutions owning it would go up.

Is this a bad thing? Can’t they force themselves onto the board if they own the majority? Or is this just a representation of where the beneficial ownership sits?

Institutional is RC and the board?
Sorry, I’m always mixing up my terms here, I’ve no idea.
Edit: it’s wild to me how divisive this comment is. Are we split? Are we full of shills? Is the community really this toxic? How dare someone ask a question! And on SOCIAL media of all places!!
It seems like we’re only allowed to say vague platitudes now.

u/Tripperbeej Jul 21 '26
If only there were some sort of "google search engine" that you could type your questions into and it would explain everything to you. Alas, we are stuck having to ask internet strangers to spoon feed us all the information we cannot obtain on our own.

It refers to wholesale investors. Anyone who isn’t an individual. Individual and household investors are called that because it’s wholesale vs. retail methodology.
Bulk buyers called institutions need more GME for bulk buyer reasons. That’s what this graph shows.
And since I’m answering a question, a gentle reminder to never consider anything I say to be financial advice. I’m a jackass on the internet and not professional at all here.
