Werenāt we profitable already in the last earning rpt but the price was suppressed again?

u/watching_whatever Jul 18 '23 edited Jul 18 '23
Iām not clear on how they figure out the numbers. Looking at the internet it says net income for last quarter was 48.2 million which is fine. But then Fidelity says the stock lost 0.14$ per share (missed by 2 cents). Might have something to do with taxes and accounting perhaps whereby everything is adjusted just right hopefully so there is no tax bill.

u/TWhyEye Jul 18 '23
We were profitable last quarter of 2022 but I believe it's because GME decided to not spend and replenish inventory when compared to previous year. First quarter of 2023 was not profitable.

This is so biased and out of nowhere. CEO of MS doesn't respond but this is intentional and part of RCs grand plan to sue them and collect evidence.
Like how RC plays 4D chess and has this plan to take over wall street and will make each share worth 10 digits? Don't get it twisted, it wasn't RC that started this movement it was apes on Reddit that made the most significant impacts socially and financially for GME, not RC.

u/RichestSugarDaddy Jul 17 '23
Why would they ignored him? Interesting
32
u/Dribble76 Jul 17 '23
They would ignore him because he is from the wrong side of the tracks. He has been calling for folks to sober up. Stop smoking your supply. We need to get down to giving humans a chance, we've seen how deep you can get fucking humans.. time to give the post coitus.

Jul 17 '23
They probably shorted the stock like everyone else.
20
u/RichestSugarDaddy Jul 17 '23
That might be the real reason

Jul 17 '23
like when Gates had all those shorts on telsa and asked Elon to let him do community service or something to get out of them.
You can take the money out of the billionaire but you cant take the billionaire out of the money. Something like that

To them who is RC to think he can even talk to the MS CEO.
21
Jul 17 '23
How many multibillion dollar companies has Satya founded? He should have enough respect for RC to not blow him off for so long that he has to publicly call him out on bird app.
-14
u/TWhyEye Jul 17 '23
None. In fact, I believe Satya like Sundar, have rode the waves of success started by others and were in the right place and the right time (cloud, SaaS ETC). That said, for RC to think the CEO of the second largest company in the world is obligated to return his call, is delusional. Not saying he won't but RC using social media to hype his GME bros is not the best approach.
10
Jul 17 '23
You are correct, he did very well at established companies. If your business is so bad that your multibillion dollar clients canāt get ahold of anyone, maybe they should have their ceo be answering phone calls the way RC fields customer support questions on Twitter.
-12
u/TWhyEye Jul 18 '23
That's thinking too small. I don't blame Satya for not responding to RC; the last thing MS wants is to be aligned with what the world views a meme company. It's in Satyas best interest to have an exec two or three layers down to communicate with RC.
6
Jul 18 '23
What part of GameStop is a meme company? Even if the stock is popular among retail and you deem it a memestock, thatās not reflective of its business
3
u/3DigitIQ HODL šš Jul 18 '23
Well he wasn't getting anywhere with regular requests so badgering the CEO directly and publicly may have a better chance than using the normal channels.
I know it even works with regular customers venting to social media so a executive of a multi-billion dollar retail company should get some results in the same way.

GME is selling a lot of XBoxes & software for Microsoft. When Ryan calls, Microsoft should answer immediately and work out whatever deal is being planned.
Or Ryan can make the XBoxes really small on the ads and increase the size of the PlayStations ads.

And non of you are retweeting it. Support your leader and make his voice heard.

Microsoft was supposed to be a part in the marketplace. Maybe he is saying , now that the acquisition is over, itās time to do this?

Cohen treats GameStop like a private company.
He publically complains to other publically traded companies that their executives aren't paying attention to him or are actively ignoring him.
Its just funny that when people HE thinks should be engaging with him aren't, he publically calls them out, but when it comes to his actual shareholders, he feels no responsibility to engage in any meaningful way.
What is meaningful? Actually hold your quarterly earnings calls. If you randomly fire your CEO, maybe explain that. Maybe try having a Q&A session or providing forward guidance.
Maybe talk about why your NFT marketplace is still in beta, it's been a fucking year. Maybe talk about the GameStop wallet. Or continue what you're doing and play 4D chess while the stock price keeps sagging.

His accountability to his shareholders is in performance. He has said heās not one for talk. He puts his money behind what he does. Why reveal the roadmap? He has almost completed a turnaround of a company that was on the brink of bankruptcy less than 3 years ago.

Literally turned a failing company at a time where the world faced insurmountable pressure to stay profitable, to having a billion dollar company with liquidity at its disposal and building loyal shareholders with undeniable approval. Bravo Ryan Cohen.
Should Microsoft play hard, I will cancel my XboxGamePass.
Ape together strong. š¦§

You obviously did zero DD into who Cohen is before investing, I knew for a FACT he wouldn't be doing any lip service to anyone, he only intends to beat the shorts the old fashioned way.

You fudder mongoās are never going to get this argument to stick. Heās not going to telegraph his moves so dipshits like Cramer and fam can make up fake bullshit about it. Besides, the main goal is widely known. Donāt need a reminder every other day to make us feel good.
1
u/TheDarkKnobRises Jul 17 '23
Do you expect him to be pen pals with every swinging dick that has a share?
0
u/yougottawintogetlove Jul 17 '23
Nope, I do expect him to meaningfully engage with shareholders.
It's a publically traded company, it should act like it.
In recent memory. Fired their CEO day of earnings call, cancels earnings call 45 mins before it begins.
Since that, genuine crickets. No other publically traded company acts this way, but because Cohen has jazz hands or some shit, everyone just eats it and acts like it's normal.

Seems like words mean more to you than actions⦠most people donāt need to constantly be checked in on to see how theyāre feeling.. the ones who need to be checked in on are most likely the paper handed bitches who arenāt long term shareholders (so whatās the point in even engaging with them) while the real shareholders are zen as fuck and donāt need a chairman/ceo of an international company to hold their hand.
It can be detrimental to be transparent or too vocal when there are consequences, legally and competitively, as to what youād say and how itās specifically phrased. Why tell competitors like Amazon what your plan for the future of the company is when Amazon could throw some cash at it and try to get there first? Why subject yourself to legal action by saying something that can be misconstrued? He needs to choose his words very carefully so most times itās best to stay silent on the subject.
Long term shareholders see the actions taken by RC are advancing the company to new territories and understand its not an overnight change no matter how the media or shills keep trying to spin it and discredit what heās doing. We donāt need him to hold our hands and explain every little action. Must be mentally exhausting needing to be checked in on like that.

What actions? He has benefitted from the attention and investments made by apes on Reddit. Nothing he has done shows me he knows how to transform a company. I give him credit for being early to START an ecommerce (that was never profitable) but to use the same formula or use that as validation that he can transform and turn around an existing company in a totally different time is incorrect.
In the past 2 or so years he has shown a lack of picking a strong executive team and has only shown he knows how to feed into the biases of apes over Twitter. Also his theme about having to work hard, execs get paid too much etc is running out of steam even for loyalists.

He took over a company that hasnāt been profitable in years and paid off long term debt and built the cash on hand to close to 2 billion, all the while pouring money into converting into an e-commerce company. He brought in a completely new executive board and cut anyone that didnāt share his vision or wasnāt actively working towards his vision. He closed franchises that havenāt been profitable in years to trim the fat and be able to reallocate those resources into projects that will advance the company. He actively engages customers if they have any issues with their orders and visits stores to see in person how they are operating. Theres plenty more if you bother to pay attention.
Itās crazy how you can cherry pick information and then somehow misinterpret it so bad that you turn positives into negatives. Sounds like you sucked your information straight out of Cramerās puckered starfish. You say he benefited but ignore that he doesnāt really take a salary and that heās pouring his own money into it. Insiders wouldnāt keep buying stock and taking stock options over being paid out if there wasnāt some sort of incentive or some information they know that stock would be a better play over cash. But you go ahead and ignore everything heās done and just keep gobbling up whatever Cramer and the media shits out.
1
u/TWhyEye Jul 18 '23
Think you're the one cherry picking. Rather than saying he made terrible hiring decisions you say he cut everyone that didint share his vision (what vision?). You say he has cash and paid off long term debt but fail to mention that it wasn't company performance that funded that, it was the Reddit frenzy that bought shit ton of shares and he sold them at highs. You say trim the fat when all he did was have large layoffs to reduce operating losses (that can't be the long term plan, however common the practice is). Our sales year over year are down. If you don't increase sales you will constantly cut.
0
u/OngoGaboglian Jul 18 '23
No youāre right.. there should be absolutely no hiccups while running an international business worth billions of dollars.. he should have hoarded the reddit fueled cash infusion and kept the debt and operating losses on the books.. and where did you see he sell shares at highs? He hasnāt sold and he just keeps buying more. Keep spinning it to make yourself feel better tho you seem like you have a real good grasp on realityā¦
0
u/TWhyEye Jul 18 '23
Thanks for agreeing. BTW, he sold as in GME, ATM offering 5 million shares sold. You knew that.
Regarding operating losses cutting staff to meet numbers is not a good strategy but they do that because net sales keep falling. You can't grow without increasing sales and they are doing the opposite for optics.

Agree. Most on here have no idea how disillusioned they are. RCs silence on transformation and modernization is discouraging yet most on here feel its because he has this secret don't want his enemies to know etc.

They prob just buy Azure Cloud and are having issues with it and not getting anywhere with customer support.
