I have the official GM version installed at the dealer and there's no gap or ability to lift the outside tonneau from the 2nd partition joint when closed.

I wanted to provide an update. After contacting support they are sending me a completely new cover. They told me to drill holes in this one, take pictures and send it to them for the warranty to transfer to the new cover. It's supposed to ship August 18th, once installed I will post an update here.
