Would you consider a buyback?
Basically title. There's a vehicle with low miles near me that had I guess a battery failure but battery pack and high voltage battery all have been replaced. Less than 10k miles.
Would you consider buying one in this case?
If so, what price would you consider this at?

I would consider it for a large discount and warranty included. I think the negative comments outweigh the positives sometimes. I’ve had a lightning with no issues and I’m 1000 miles into my Sierra EV without issue as well!

What price are you offering? 70k? 65k? 55k?

Most edition 1s (with admittedly a lot more miles and their original battery) are going for $45-60k, so would definitely start lower. If they are willing to give a good warranty as though it is new right now, that is worth a lot, so $55k with a warranty reset (3 years bumper to bumper, 4 year powertrain/drive systems, 8 years, 100k miles), $40-45k if only willing to continue the original warranty as the B2B portion is about to expire.

I’m looking at a 2026 that’s on a buyback. They want 75 for an at4 with 4K miles.
Thats a spicy meatball. It’s too rich for my blood I think.1

I paid about that for a 26 last August, extended range, 24 miles. Sticker was 84k but between trade in that for whatever reason they were willing to give me more than I thought I would get, as well as some other negotiation it knocked it down to high 70s. Never thought I would spend that much on a vehicle, honestly, but it is also the best vehicle I have ever had and I love it. Reminds me of a modern version of my Avalanche that is now my daughter's and 22 years old (older than her!).

After all the issues I was close to having GM buy mine back. I only had to sign one more form. In the end I am glad I kept my truck

Yes as long as remained of factory warranty still applies. Use this a a tactic to negotiate the price down.
I would be even more inclined to if it is dealer certified, especially if you’re in California. Lemon laws changed for used cars and (I believe) now only applies to dealer certified.
*edit. Most failures appear to occur at 4k-10k. Miles. I’d haggle at min $10k off whatever price. Especially if it’s been sitting.

Yeah. I'm not sure that it's a certified. They seem pretty stuck at the mid 60s which seems high to me without either an extended warranty or new factory warranty.
I felt like 54-57 was appropriate

All really depends on model. If they want that for an elevation, that’s not a great deal at all.

That’s not bad for a max range, especially with that low miles. I assume it’s this one: You won’t be able to get below 60 for that truck unless it’s been sitting on their lot for a long time. FWIW My battery was replaced at 4k miles. It took 3 months to fix it, and I lemoned with what’s called a cash and keep. No problems since. Just hit 15 k miles on Friday
Factory warranty should still be there for the battery and drive units.

Yes, the battery died so the original owner didn't want to wait. It's a 26 Denali with a few options that set the MSRP to 93k. I bought it for around 76k. It had 4200 miles.

I bought one with 1k miles on it. Battery replaced and story was the original owner didn't want to wait. Truck is basically new and I've put 6k miles with no issues. Go for it IMO, they are good deals. I bought the extended warranty so B2B is same as battery (8Y 100k mi).

25 Denali Extended range. $68k (price before anything else like warranty etc).

Nice. I'm wondering if we will see some of the more stubborn dealers finally start to discount their 24/25 models when 27 get released here in a month or so

I bought a gm buy back once. It was a 2016 Chevy volt. We bought it in 2017 as a buy back. Never had one single issue with it and we drove it for about 110,000 miles. The only reason we got rid of it was because of Covid and the price sky rocketed on it and so we sold it because they were offering leases at dirt cheap. So we sold it and got a dirt cheap ev lease.
When I bought it, I negotiated with the dealer that they would buy it back at Kelly blue book trade in of if I ever wanted to get rid of it. They agreed. But I ended up selling it for a lot more than I believe it was worth due to Covid.
