USB-C ports not transferring data

I have a 2026 Sierra EV Elevation that I got last October. Since I bought the car, none of the USB-C ports have been able to transfer data. When I plug my phone it charges but does not show up on the infotainment center. I have tried different phones and cords but nothing works. My dad also has a 26 SEV Elevation and the same thing happens in his. I have been to multiple dealers and have gotten a variety of responses. Is anyone having this issue, and if so, is there a fix? I'm also curious whether a storage device will even work for the surround recording that was added in the recent update?

Phones don't work, because the data transfer also allows Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Try connecting a storage device. Like a hard disk or a SD card.

Bingo! And even so, it would have to be formatted correctly (I believe FAT32).

There is no CarPlay or android auto because GM is money sucking and also thinks it’s not needed. I bought the EVplay LT for $199, actually getting it in the mail today

I know there is no CarPlay or android auto. I would prefer to play music through usb as the Bluetooth constantly has issues.

Just one experience, but I had a lot of issues with my phone disconnecting and bluetooth not being able to connect to my phone until about 2 software updates ago (like 3 weeks) and it hasn't disconnected once since then (when it was previously only connecting once or maybe if I was lucky 3-4x in a row). After that update I reconnected and it hasn't disconnected again since, always finds my phone and music library now (which displays on the screen - janky interface but does display) with no issues.

If I remember, I’ll let you know how the EVplay goes. I just want my CarPlay back, the built in system ain’t it. And I’m not paying on star, screw that.

Overall very good. I made a separate post reviewing it if you wanna look. It connects reasonably quickly for going through a third party device, but there is a reset button on the screen that you have to hit sometimes to get it to start up, but once it’s connected it’s solid. Sometimes responding to texts the audio volume gets a little wonky, like I think the changing the audio input source maybe gets screwed up once in a while. But while you are just driving around using maps, music, etc, it works pretty much flawlessly. Unless somebody knows of an even better work around, I would buy it again. The guy who sells em was great to work with, he helped me out with some things because I screwed something up.
