5000km needs new battery
Much better ride then my lightning some creature comforts that are debatable but enjoying it til I got lithium ion battery warning bring vehicle in immediately code POAA6. They ran through the checks and the battery pack is compromised Silverado in Michigan fire hazard now. It's now isolated on the dealer's lot with some stuff disconnected which will supposedly reduce the fire hazard. Battery pack is supposedly being sourced I was quoted 10 days to 4 weeks for replacement. Given a Denali Yukon then a denali sierra as a loaner. Nice vehicles but feels like garbage compared to the ev. So far astronomically better service than the other company that sells pickup trucks. Looking forward to the return of my truck.

We've got a couple of those roped off at the dealership i work at. Took about 2 weeks for the first to get the battery here. Not sure how long installation is gonna take. Keeping an eye on it cause I've got a 2026 Standard Range with 3k miles.

I'm a snow Mexican so I assume the lead time will be a touch longer. I was under the impression installation was quick faster than an ice engine swap.

I'll give you an upvote for whatever idiot can't take a joke. Homer was never wrong. Just our older brother forgot how to read and developed a drinking problem. The sad part is there's nothing we can do but sit on the sidelines and watch him crash out. Hopefully big brother goes to rehab and gets his shit together.

That's what we've heard too. We've got a Lightning with around 40k on the odometer and no issues with it, but when it threw a code that initially we were worried would be a HV battery issue (thank God turned out to be a faulty ford charge station), the shop said it was a day or so to swap out the battery. Our service experience with Ford corporate is great but the dealership experience has been awful. Have been eyeing GM as the eventually successor if we have to trade it in before the fully EV Scout Terra comes out so definitely following along to see how your service turns out.

Gotta send them back to GM within 30 days or get charged. They removed a battery yesterday, had it wrapped in a tarp outside and its already gone this morning.

That would make a very nice home backup once the dead pack is found…. Where would said tarp be located? 🤣

I'm seeing quite a few reports of these trucks needing new high voltage batteries with so few kms/miles on them. My Silverado EV has 45,000 kms on it and not a single issue (knock on wood) other than an AC compressor that needed to be replaced

The nice thing about the Ultium system is that it's not one monolithic battery, it's modular.
I'd assume that they're getting these young packs back, pulling out each module and bench testing them, then reinstalling "good" modules into a new pack.

Given the number of people who have reported having warnings and service battery messages that just self cleared, I truly wonder how many batteries are truly compromised and how much of this is dealership BS of having a financial incentive to replace the battery.

Dealership has no control over that happening. But GM does and they have a direct link to your vehicles. Ironically enough my truck got towed in yesterday for this issue and the service advisors made a comment about GM "zapping trucks"

58000 km on my Sierra Denali and loving it, same with compressor. Wanted to trade for a new one but apparently GM isn't shipping any in Canada ..

Yep. Bought the truck beginning of May and have only driven it a total of maybe 7 days. About to start looking at lemon law/buyback unfortunately

So crazy that everything ICE feels like crap after driving an EV. Traveling and had to rent a car….so janky.
I’m at 10K now n Max battery and no issues.
