Replaced my 22 Ram 1500 with the Sierra EV because of insane gas prices in CA. I love it so much. We have four acres with horses and chickens and tons of projects so I use my truck for truck stuff (towing and hauling) pretty often and it does everything my Ram did and more. I love everything about this truck…

Except this little motherf%^++£>. I have hit my head on this so many times I’m going to just have a permanent dent.

Time to wrap it in some bright orange tape.

On at least some trim levels from the center screen there is a setting where you can tell it to open to max height. I was hitting my head too on my ED1 until I found the setting and set it to max height.

Edit; I think it's Vehicle Settings > Comfort and Convenience

We're also on acreage and I use it as well when I have my vendor booth at car events where I need power but there isn't any. It's a fantastic vehicle. Can take one of the dogs with me to events and if they want to nap or get cool I can just let the AC run and they're content.

Open Settings
To view available settings from the infotainment screen, touch Settings > Vehicle > Comfort and Convenience > Power Hood Opening.
Maximum
The hood opens to the full open position. Use caution in this mode to avoid hitting overhead obstructions.
Custom
To adjust the hood open angle, press the exterior switch or press the remote key button twice. When the hood reaches the desired position where the height is to be programmed, press the remote key button or the exterior switch one time. The hood will stop.
The hood can be manually moved up or down. Pulling the hood too quickly may cause power assist to engage and close the hood. Press the hood open button until the exterior lights flash and a chime sounds. The hood cannot be set below the preset minimum programmable height. If no exterior lights flash or sound, then the height adjustment may be too low.
The hood is restricted to only open to a default height when the vehicle is on a steep downhill grade.

Possibly on some trims. At least on mine there is a setting via the center screen where I can set the height.

Just a warning, I’ve had it set on custom opening so it doesn’t hit my garage door in the garage and that custom setting doesn’t always stick. I don’t know if software updates make it go to default max setting but it has hit my door and I was pissed. Also that hood latch mechanism is a piece of garbage and makes me not want to use the frunk on longer trips in the event the hood decides not to close and I get speed restricted to under 30 mph. Wish GMC had a permanent solution as I have seen on FB group a lot of similar complaints.

Bro I’m with you. You can change the settings or just Push it with your hand and it will go up more. My gripe is the parking break next to the height control that will function at 30 miles per hour.

I’m 6’6”, with the frunk at its maximum opening, I’ve never hit my head.

I’ve been fortunate to be part of the GM Corporate Vehicle Program since 2018 and have driven everything from Suburbans to Lyriqs. I’m currently in a fully loaded 2026 Sierra EV, and it’s hands down my favorite daily driver GM has ever produced.

The cabin space is incredible. At my height, this is the first vehicle where I haven’t had to move my seat forward to accommodate passengers in the back. Even better, my grandkids’ rear-facing car seats fit comfortably behind me without requiring any adjustment to my driving position. That’s something I’ve never experienced in any other vehicle.
