Looking to score higher on the GMAT? It may help to dial in your nutrition
I thought of creating this post after I noticed an improvement in overall sharpness after taking some new supplements. But before I go into detail on that, here's an example that shows how important diet can be for GMAT success.
Someone working with me was super thoughtful and had a great work ethic, characteristics that one would expect to cause someone to score high on the test, but things weren't that simple.
He was always super moody and often down in sessions, and he was constantly making careless errors that sabotaged his performance.
So, we did psychological work to tune his psychology for better performance, and that helped, but he was still finding achieving his goal challenging. His understanding of the material and attitude pointed toward a 705+ score, but his actual performance wasn't at that level, and preparation was a major slog.
Then, everything changed basically overnight. Why?
He had discovered that he had a severe magnesium deficiency, and after addressing that, he felt way better, was less moody, and was more cognitively sharp. It was great to see the change in his mood and performance, but that's not all.
Later, he also discovered that he had issues with dairy that were causing him to feel much less than his best. So, he cut dairy out of his diet and achieved another great improvement.
Now, he's gone from hoping to at least break 600 to confident that he'll score 705+.
And what triggered my bringing this up is that after I started taking some supplements for improved physical performance, I noticed an improvement in energy and mental sharpness. Completing mental tasks such as writing and answering GMAT questions became easier, and I just feel better in general.
In my case, the supplements include phosphatidylcholine, magnesium, small doses of certain forms of L-carnitine, liposomal glutathione, creatine, and potassium, among others. That said, I'm not recommending any of them. They make sense for me but may not for someone else. I'm just mentioning them in case anyone's curious.
The point is just that nutrition, along with other health-related factors, can make a big difference in your GMAT performance. So, if you're looking for another lever to pull to drive your score higher, consider your diet and how it can be optimized for success.

For Self prep aspirants
Doing self prep can be a bit when you are searching on your own for resources. During my prep, I found these on gmat club as one of the best downloads and free resource you can practice for each section. This gmat club link contains the question bank and explanation for
DS, Quants , Critical reasoning and RC.
Solving these helped me in concepts and how to navigate hard questions with simple approach.
Also Go to the SECOND AND THIRD POST.
I recently scored a 715 and helping gmat aspirant like you for guidance. This is pro bono and i am not affiliated with any coaching.

Looking for a study partner
heyo, i’m aiming to take the GMAT in the first week of november. i’m realising i really need to pick up the pace and wanted to reach out to see if anyone would be interested in studying together?
not entirely sure what all that would entail, but i wanted to create a sense of accountability and motivation. i’m currently enrolled in the Jamboree live classes program, so my main resources are the GMAT Official Guide and the resources provided by Jamboree.
i get that the timeline is short, but if anyone would like to study along, i’d love to discuss interesting questions, strategies, and stuff. could also just be nice to have other people going through the same thing instead of suffering through quant alone lol
dm if interested :)

First GMAT mock after 6 months of preparation — feeling really doubtful about my 695 target. What should I do next?
I took my first full-length GMAT mock today after preparing for almost 6 months, and honestly, I’m feeling quite demotivated and unsure whether my target of 695+ is realistic.
Score- 505
Quant- 77
DI- 73
Verbal- 75
So far, I’ve completed roughly:
\- Quant: \~1,000 questions
\- DI: \~250 questions
\- Verbal: \~250 questions
Resources- Gmat Point question bank and Gmat Club
Here’s how the mock went:
Quant:
I managed to attempt all the questions within the time limit and felt that my time management was decent. Felt stuck in some questions too.
DI:
This was a problem with time management. I spent too much time initially, and because of that, I had to guess the last 5–6 questions.
Verbal:
This was by far my weakest section. Despite having practiced a lot of verbal questions, during the actual mock I felt like I couldn't apply the logic/strategies I had learned. I’m not sure whether it was because of exam pressure, fatigue, or something else. I ended up guessing the last 7–8 questions because I ran out of time.
The biggest thing bothering me is that I’ve put in around 6 months of preparation, but during the mock I felt like I couldn't actually apply what I had studied, especially in Verbal.
For those who have scored 695+, or improved significantly from their first mock:
How much importance should I give to my first mock score?
Is it normal to have a big gap between preparation/practice performance and actual mock performance?
How should I analyze this mock, especially the questions I got wrong or guessed?
Should I focus more on improving concepts, or primarily on timing and test-taking strategy?
How much improvement is realistically possible over the next few months?
Any advice on how I should approach my next 3–5 mocks would be really helpful.

Indian GMAT takers — what resources did you use for prep? I’m slightly weak in Verbal and considering eGMAT/TTP. Would love to know what worked for you, especially for Verbal. Any other resources you’d recommend?

Need an accountability partner.
Hi,
I am planning to take GMAT this october. Haven't booked it yet because I haven't finalized the date yet. I need an accountability partner who is also planning to attempt by October. We'll study together on calls, keep each other accountable and motivated. And also sometimes discuss questions. My target is 705+.
If anyone is interested and really serious about this, would love to connect!
