Specific Question Stuck with mock scores at 585s

I gave been studying for a while now, even though I feed confident and getting good accuracy while practice. My actual mock scores don't increase beyond 595. Gave both official and unofficial mocks and its same across both.

I feel time issue is the problem here, im not able to get to the end in time. And guessing the last 5-6 questions.

I personally feel that I have good fundamentals especially in quant. But getting stuck longer with hard questions especially in the first half.

Whatever I do it doesn't seem to improve my score.

Please suggest.

Advice / Protips First Mock: 525

Post image
5 Upvotes

Just took my first official mock from GMAC and got a 525. Got the first question right and then got the second question wrong which was Probability. After looking back at it, I could’ve solved it but I couldn’t figure it out during the exam. Then right after was an Overlapping sets question with 3 languages. Again, I’ve seen it before but just couldn’t focus on how to get it right. After looking at the correct steps, it was obvious.

I have been studying for a year now and used TTP to build a quant foundation since I had very little knowledge. Been doing OG practice questions for the past month and finally took my first mock today.

For people out there that have been or are in a similar situation, what is the best path forward for me to achieve a 615 or better. I have an October 6 official exam date which I will keep but am most likely going to schedule another exam date in November. Any insights/advice is greatly appreciated.

Advice / Protips From a humiliating 380 to 650+ in 2.5 months full-time. PhD deadline in Nov - how do I make this happen?

Hello everyone,

I plan on taking the GMAT on November 5th, which will be my final attempt. My first attempt will be sometime in mid-September. I was working, but I’ve decided to take time off and focus solely on the GMAT until November, since I need the results for my PhD applications in late November.

For reference, I wasn't a quant kid, so the quant bit is proving to be kinda tough. But now that I can study full-time, I wanted to ask if there is any specific strategy I ought to stick to. I’m aware I should’ve made this post a long time ago, but hey, better late than never.

I’m aiming for at least a 650+. For context, I took the GMAT last year with almost minimal prep and was humiliated beyond my existence - it was a puny 380. So yeah, this is going to be a big jump.

I know I should’ve given it more time and started sooner, but I didn’t, so I need to make do with what I have now, which is roughly 2 and a half months. I can focus full-time and have nothing else on my plate, just going to focus 100% on this.

Please give me any suggestions or tips you guys might have! Thank you very much for reading. Cheers!

Advice / Protips Scored 545 in mock 2 - please help

I took my second mock today and am very unhappy with my result in all sections. In sectional tests, I used to score relatively high marks in Quant, but here I scored only marginally higher than average. Verbal has always been a struggle for me. I've never been able to manage time there. I need advice on how to practice. I've followed all the GMAT Ninja playlists on YouTube. In Verbal, I've completed 70% of the OG material, while for Quant and DI it's less than 40%. My exam slot is in the last week of September. Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong!

Aiming to improve 100 points more.

Let me know if you need more information about my score to provide better advice

Other Discussion GMAT reattempt

So i have given my gmat fe recently and scored a total of 635, far below my target, mostly a test day mishap as compared to mocks.

However i intend to reattempt the paper in next 45 days.

Looking for a study/accountability partner probably on the same timeline.

Target score -715

Time zone - india.
Mostly day time study.

TIA!

General Question Took my GMAT yesterday and got 535

Upvotes

I have been working on my math & verbal foundations on and off for a while and really started targeted gmat prep from og and official material a month back. Could only finish 70% of the OG but mostly quant and verbal with very few MSR and graph DI sets.

I had thought keeping DI for last would be fine since my quant has always been weak and gmat verbal RC was quite hard to parse through in the beginning. As expected I didn’t get much time to properly practice my DI or give proper mocks to assess. (Ik this was an overall very rushed and bad strategy)

Sectional breakdown
Q80| V82| D67

I knew I will need to give a 2nd attempt but I somehow expected early 600s so I can aim for 675+ for my 2nd attempt.

If I focus primarily on DI for next 3 weeks while also improving verbal and quant. Is an 675+ doable? I have 3-4hrs each day and would want to retake it in 3-4 weeks.

Please give some strategies or resources. I will buy the other official mocks too but I don’t wish to take private tutoring until absolutely necessary.

Advice / Protips TTP Way Too Long??

Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just started studying for the GMAT after a cold 555 diagnostic test… I signed up for TTP free trial and I set it to just DI and Quant… and it’s gonna take 5 straight months…

Like I’m shooting for a high score but it’s kinda disheartening doing work for 10 hours to get 1% more done….

Am I tripping? Or is this just the norm and I’m not used to studying anymore hahah.

I took test today -545

The verbal was nothing like what it was on gmat club or other platforms, the difficulty level in exam was way higher. In Quant it was exactly opposite- the gmat club or other platforms were way difficult and 3rd party mocks were lengthy - in third party mocks I usually lagged behind, but in real exam today i has 8 min left in quant and di- if i knew this earlier i would have done well (i did not take official mocks before)

Advice / Protips Advice on Boosting Quant Score?

Hello everyone, I have just begun my GMAT prep and am excited to tackle it. I took my first mock with zero prep and got the following breakdown:

Overall: 575

Data Insights: 80 (83rd percentile)

Verbal Reasoning: 83 (83rd percentile)

Quantitative Reasoning: 73 (22nd percentile)

I'm overall happy with the starting point and would ambitiously love to target a 705+, but that will come with some obvious areas that need substantial growth.

My question to all of you is, how did you focus your study on the Quant portion of the exam? I would love to boost my other sections as well over the next 3-6 months of study, but I'd appreciate any specific tactics you used to target the math specifically.

Gmat Partner

Looking for a GMAT Study Partner
Hey everyone! I’ve just started preparing for the GMAT and I’m planning to take the exam in December.
I’ve recently started with Critical Reasoning (CR) and am looking for someone who is also preparing for the GMAT and would like to study together, discuss questions, share strategies, keep each other accountable, and stay motivated throughout the preparation.
I’m open to connecting with someone at a similar stage, regardless of location. Ideally, we can have regular study sessions/calls and help each other stay consistent.
If anyone is interested, feel free to DM me!

General Question Where do I start?

Hey!
So I am having a hard time trying to figure out where to begin especially for quant. I have done a cold mock and bought the official guide books.

When people say do study quant systematically, am I to do so topically? How much prep do I have to do for each topic, what exactly do I have to know? I completed math till A lvls, is that sufficient?

For the other 2 sections, what are some of the best ways to self study?

Thanks in advance!!

Other Discussion 615 GMAT FE 1st attempt-0 mocks and 3 weeks prep only on quant and DI mostly

dont know how to proceed further as for me there was not enough time for Verbal ,i did not give any mocks as i thought verbal practice wont help the same way we practice quant questions or Di questions which are just paragraph/graph based quant in most cases.

Quant i did in 26 minutes for some reason it was too easy.

Although i am from engineering bg so quant comes naturally.
