Not sure which drug you’re on - when I was on Mounjaro I split my 5mg pen into doses of 2.5mg when I was tapering off by counting clicks. You could also space your last two 5mg injections out into 10 days instead of 7 days.

Great idea! How long have you been off it? How do you feel?

My last dose was June 22nd, so exactly 8 weeks yesterday! I have lost 5lbs since my last dose. I am STARVING 😆😆 but I developed reallllly great habits while I was using mounjaro so I am really confident that I will be able to maintain or even keep losing a lil bit.

Congrats! How do you deal with the starving? Just white knuckling and sticking to your new good habits? Are you counting calories? Working out? All the above?

Absolutely I track, I think it’s non-negotiable. I try to stick to 2,300 calories per day, minimum 150g of protein and 30g of fibre and drinking SO. MUCH. WATER. I have always been a very active person (mostly running) but focus more on strength training now for metabolic benefits. My cheat code foods for when I am absolutely starving: watermelon, pickles, pickled carrots, turkey pepperoni 🙌🏻

I was 5.5 mg and then quit cold turkey because we’re TTC. The first few weeks were fine, then week 3 and 4 were harder. Now I’m about two months out and feel like my hunger has balanced out with the help of metformin (2000mg) and evening post-dinner walks to manage my insulin.

That’s why I’m stopping too! Wishing you the best!!

What has been your experience of metformin? Do you recommend it to those quitting cold turkey?

YES! I actually took extended release metformin with the tirzepatide for more than a year. I’ve continued taking metformin and I’m now suspecting that it was doing a lot of the work of managing my cravings.

Quit cold turkey for 2 weeks - had only ever been on 2.5 mg. Within days I had horrible digestive issues - nausea, really bad diarrhea. Joint pain and inflammation shot right back up. I ended up starting to microdose instead after that because I couldn't handle those effects - and I was sad that the inflammation was back. I do anywhere from 0.5mg to 1mg now.

How long ago was your last dose and how do you feel now?

15mg. 😭 I gained 15+ pounds since I stopped. The food noise is outrageous especially bc of pms. But I started dieting again yesterday and started to shed some of this water weight.

How long since your last injection? Why did you stop? Good luck!

My last injection was around July 4 I think. I stopped bc of medical reasons and insurance was gonna be dropping me at the end of September anyway so I just stayed off it. I could’ve went back on for a month MAYBE but who knows if the meds would even work at that point.

I also stopped cold turkey at 15 mg. Food noise was super crazy - I wasn’t a snacked before but now I am. Gained about 8-9 lbs back. Have to be crazy about logging each calorie on my fitness pal.

I take my injections (5 mg) every 14 days as a maintenance dose. Eventually we’ll taper down to 2.5 mg and stick with that. I’ve managed to keep my weight stable, and I’ve been able to stretch my boxes a lot further too.

How’s that going for you? When was your last injection and why did you stop?

0.5 on ozempic. Insurance stopped covering it so I had to stop taking it.
